  1. Can Luis throw 40 pitches in the first and be effective for more than 5, not that he's effective now
  2. And now Severino cannot easily come inside hard, or he could get tossed, which is fine
  3. Eat that 'tater, Severino
  4. f***'em, It's war.
  5. With Moreland still sore but available, same for Bogaerts I assume (in an emergency), and Devers/Swihart/Sale/wright/Erod DL'ed, this team could not be in much worse shape for a 4 gamer with the Yankees. Glad we won the first one, so we can sweep.
  6. Dan Butler pops up in Beantown once again
  7. For what it's worth ( approx $18-$19million) , Pablo Sandoval, one of our paid administrative leave two timers, tore his hammie yesterday and will need surgery so misses another 55 games for SF while still being paid. Maybe he and Cc could open a fat clinic somewhere.
  8. Despite last night's RedSox fireworks show , today's game is more likely to be a 2-1 pitcher's duel. Which is fine as long as we have the 2 and the Yankees have the one. If Swihart is out for a day or few massaging his hamstring, I would not want to see Sandy Leon dodging 98mph deep inside pitches. Last night's game exposed a lot of issues on both sides but the dominant, pie-in-your-CC-face was the highlight of the year so far.
  9. Including Thornburg, there are 29 guys on the list for 25 seats. Which 4 go to start the playoffs, based on current record/trends: Pomeranz ; Johnson; Leon/Vazquez is a toss up , preference to Leon; Nunez , although that's kicking a guy who played to his best ability all year. Devers would be a bubble boy also based on results but I'm sure they'll keep him out there.
  10. Get out of Sunday night with a split and leave the Yankees 5+- down with 4 fewer to play. That would be acceptable since we are facing their top 3 pitchers while our hitters couldn't hit the ocean falling off a Wicked Tuna boat right now.
  11. Vazquez, although he may be a lot fresher than Leon at that point. Christian just wasn't having a strong season up to his injury. But I think you can see Leon fading somewhat, along with others, from the heavy workload recently. So it's a definite maybe depending on what happens or various alternatives that may or may not arise.
  12. Drew's post game quote reveals a lot of this guy's mentality as a competitor. Essentially he said that he'd rather walk 4 batters and hit 2 guys, than give up a wall ball double. What he means is that his "stuff" isn't good enough to get guys out by challenging them. That may be the only thing he gets right.
  13. Orioles spanking the Yanks 5-0 in top of second. NYY has plenty of time to comeback but the O's will make them sweat a little, maybe get the blind luck game. This offensive explosion was off none other than Sonny Boy Gray, who truly sucks .
  14. I think that Workman is the one on the yoyo string to PawSox land. When you look at the roster the only other option type names are Brasier and Velazquez. Cora obviously trusts Brasier and Hector , so this is a very tough call. All the more so when E. Rodriguez, C. Sale, and S. Wright decide they are feeling good. Wright can be held back until roster expansion in Sept. Sale needs to be back , if he's 90% or better. Rodriguez probably comes back over top of Johnson. And then there is always the DL, real or imagined.
  15. Guessing that Moreland's knee soreness is part of his acknowledged serious swoon. Maybe that's aggravating his back too. When one of the DL crew is ready to come back, perhaps Mitch should be given a 10 day rest and treatment, let Pearce play first daily, although he has lost his instant impact bat status also.
  16. What a f***ed up game. Take the day off guys.
  17. The game comes down to Brock Holt. You could do worse but I hope Seranthony's arm falls off
  18. Cora shows he is flexible when it counts , but not much chance here
  19. Time for a 3 run HR and end this s*** of no hitting
  20. Damn, there goes X not unlike Judge. On the big knuckles. I hate these f'ing pitchers
  21. Go for broke X, swing at them all
  22. Good point. They are good but not great. beware the playoffs.
  23. Velasquez has been a unicorn this year at 7-0 record and 2.45 ERA Effective and versatile, glad we have him but what do you have long term, a possible starter or career long reliever ?
  24. First run given up by Red Sox BP in a good number of innings (15+ ??). This one is on the hitters
  25. A split here and a split with NYY and we are still 4 up or 3.5 perhaps.
