  1. Damn Workman is another example of a BP ******* who cannot pitch when he needs to. Thake all those wonderful stats and jam them where the sun doesn't shine. Either you can compete or you can't
  2. Brasier tighter than a cheap watch, cannot command a strike
  3. Still a key inning but trending the wrong way. Sale was weakening, Brasier gets screwed on an oppo hit
  4. This may be the key inning of the ALDS if Chris can keep them off the board. Get the first win at all costs. JDM already showed that Happ is not the answer in a game 5, but let's avoid getting that far down the road
  5. Lance Lynn is a fat F, like his locker mate CC. Pound him Pearce
  6. Chris certainly should get one more inning, then see how much gas is left. With a 5-0 lead I go to Wright in the 6th and hope to get all the way to Kimbrel. Have to get Chris a Playoff win so 5th for sure
  7. Beni been saving that one all year, great time to bring out the bunt basehit and move Mookie along. Happ is now officially hapless. Burn that bullpen Aaron
  8. Sale saves a bunch of pitches with that DP. Now for more runs from the bottom half of the order.
  9. Happ thought JD was batting 3rd, as usual. Nice lineup twist, Alex, paid off big time
  10. F'ing JDM hits Happ where it hurts, in the Monster seats. great start
  11. Let's score first and often for a change on Happ. Sale's 24 pitches might not let him go as deep as we would like. See how his second inning goes.
  12. Of the Red Sox roster, who will show up big and who will have trouble swallowing the clubhouse spread ? It's a given that Betts, JDM and Bogie need to hit and should. Holt may be the surprise bat that wins a game. Not expecting much from the 3 catchers or Moreland. Nunez, Pearce and JBJr will be ok, Devers will K a lot but could also bust one. I'm guessing Benintendi will leave you wondering of these 14 guys. Sale cannot be handicapped until we see the velo by end of 2nd. Price has the big upside to throw a gem. Porcello will give up 2 or 3 shots in Yankee Stadium but Eovaldi will make DD a genius by winning there. Wright will be the bullpen miracle and Joe Kelly may not see much action. Kimbrel will use too many pitches to get his outs and not be available for one of the games. The other releivers are who they are, like light switches, sometimes on and sometimes off. Brasier with a good series could be the positive surprise in must win games.
  13. How much does it mean to win the first game of a 3 of 5 game series ? If you win, you need 2 of the remaining 4, if you lose you need 3 of 4. Plus consider that you did not win with your best pitcher starting, and will likely face the guy that probably beat you if a 5th game becomes necessary. You give up the HFA and your fans go into depression. Now 2004 was the ultimate outlier and shows that all permutations are possible, but why challenge the odds. Winning the first game may also validate Chris Sale as not being limited by his shoulder condition which would be great. Win the first and follow with Price then go to NY for the elimination game.
  14. No, they are using Pom to boost their confidence.
  15. The Athletics didn't even belong in the conversation. Hope they bought round trip tix to Oakland's really swell airport. Maybe they can catch the BART home.
  16. Can't play Friday's game on Wednesday and expect to be there, Mr. Melvin.
  17. You have to like his 2018 AAA numbers though
  18. Keeping him ready for a trade over the winter.
  19. Well, the Cubs sure showed what can happen to a 95 win team with home field advantage when your guys can't hit and score. Generally great pitching by multiple throwers, fans support to the max, but just didn't get them anywhere except a long vacation. As so many here have said, the playoffs do not conform to long or medium term trends and stats. It's strictly what have you done for me today. All for lack of just one more win during the long season. Let's hope the Sox see this and react well. Meanwhile Theo and Joe M. can sit back and watch. Another watcher is the much beloved Buck Showalter, late of the Oriole dynasty who managed to lose more games than any team won. Way to go Bucky, may you never grace a dugout again.
  20. So the reason for the quick outs from the ALDS in '16 and '17 were Mookie Betts failure to understand the urgency of the situation, thinking it was a 9 game series, and Farrell's failure to advise the team to get up and play like there's no tomorrow or dance like no one is watching or laugh like no one is around. Glad to get Mookie reoriented and Cora will do a better job of kicking lazy asses if they don't wake up.
  21. If Kelly or Hembree are included then either Cora or you aren't concerned about winning.
  22. Glad you said it first. Can Wright go deep , like 7 innings, probably not for 3 times through the full lineup. But the question was , who do think is most reliable in the PO's. Wright is reliable. Repeating myself, but Sale, Price, and Porcello all must reverse their career trends and pitch winning baseball in October. Efforts to date 0-11, 6.18 ERA. Not knocking their potential to win, just that they must overcome something they never have in the past done.
  23. Sure enough, Ottavio looking like (nameless RS Reliever) gives up a stolen base to a guy with more SB's than PA's this year and Baez drives him in so it's 1-1 in the 8th. Lester off the hook for breaking Cubs hearts.
  24. Looks like pitching matters in the post season. Who knew. Lester threw a tough 6 innings but is down to a sac fly. Ottovino of the Rockies could be a RS reliever with his scrambled 7th inning effort, but escaped unharmed. Can Theo and Joe's Cubs get it done with 6 outs to go? Probably so.
  25. One thing that I noticed was that the big majority of Beni's swing and misses on good pitches to hit came when his bat dipped under the ball at the point of contact (also a pop-up cause). I believe he dips his left shoulder and loops his bat below the pitch. Also it causes many of his little dribblers rolling towards the pitcher or first base. Possibly trying to get a better angle of attack to hit flyballs/HR's but didn't work. He is so much better slashing to LF.
