  1. Take what they give you and beat them any which way. A hit here could totally swing it. Now the BP needs to continue big time with nothing but outs.
  2. Take the one, now get the next one, with a 2 out hit by Bogie.
  3. You just can't help a pitcher like Castro by swinging at out of zone stuff. Walk if you have to, it's a run
  4. Now he can't see Butler's signals. But another 20 pitch effort, with no runs
  5. Drew's 2 out walk was a perfect example of losing his mechanics and not following through. He may be hopeless . Facing a rookie in his first game, although the kid is hitting 1.000 and with a 1.000 OBP
  6. Rafael got a little too excited after taking strike one which he could have murdered , missed a center cut FB and then left 2 on. Too bad a single would have scored two. Youthful enthusiasm.
  7. 3 run HR, Rafi, to tie this one up?
  8. Hate to ask him again, but JDM, can you pick up Moreland and get your 100th ?
  9. EO and Workman both have asked Butler to repeat signals. Not shocking , given a new guy behind the plate, although he and Workman must know each other well at Pawtucket, and Dan has been in ST each year for almost his career.
  10. How do you come back from 8-3 down ?? One run at a time, 5 innings later , the Sox will be winning this game.
  11. Here's the challenge ; See if the hitters lay down and phone it in or can score 9 and still win it. I bet the O's do not score again.
  12. No question that Dan Butler's one night back in the saddle is a bad intro. He also will need to catch one of the games tomorrow, right? Of course, he can't catch balls that are being hit hard
  13. There's the 7 runs on a bunt. How innovative. Although his momentum was carrying Eovaldi to first base side, it looked like there may have been a play at the plate if he turned quickly.
  14. Everybody on the field is getting into the act tonight with sloppy play , near misses and seeing eye hits.
  15. Cora's playoff notebook entry on 8/9 and 8/10: 1. Don't pitch Nate on the road 2. Don't pitch Rick in parks he doesn't like. 3. Don't use Kimbrel for 4 outs.
  16. I don't think it is a panic to be down 4-3 to the Orioles, but Showalter's team is epically bad. Go ahead and pound the lesser teams , and go .500 with the really good teams. Also , only lose on days the Yankees lose, and they are trailing right now, so are the Sox scoreboard watching ?? Probably not.
  17. You knew that was going to be a 2 out screwing by Adam Jones. Losing to the O's and wasting a start .
  18. EO is about to blow a 3 run lead and have 40 pitches with no outs in the second and 2 in scoring position. Interesting
  19. Shaping up as a long night for fans , although we will outhit the O's, but a short night for Nathan at this rate
  20. We will see how Eovaldi handles early prosperity . regrettably it didn't help Porcello last night. One of the concerns there is Rick's inability to put aside any early issues (ump calls, Rogers Centre/Jays hex, a walk) and bear down back into the game. He had 2 shots at it and didn't hold the Jays either time.
  21. Nice work by X to get this game rolling
  22. Was hoping he had a shot at scoring on JDM's double but didn't push it.
  23. Porcello pukes it back up after the low end of the order and JDM get him even.
  24. Complete the thought: If it weren't for Nunez and Holt, the Red Sox would be ....... (Opens up a lot of possibilities)
  25. As rough as Rick's start has been, it may only take 6 or 7 to win it, and JDM's home run opens the door to get closer to Gibbon's bullpen. Keep swinging.
