  1. Credit where due to Hembree for the hold. Good inning with some tough pitches. Cora can only use who he has and Hembree is getting paid to pitch like that. Just do it way more consistently Heath
  2. Still going with Hembree ?
  3. Ironic how the Yankee-Rays game has more interest going on than this pitching duel. Scoreboard watching already.
  4. Walked the #8 .223 hitter and gives the HR to Romine batting 9th
  5. Forget Beeks, he gave up 2 runs in the bottom 5th. Obviously a low talent, low energy type guy, lol
  6. Devers misses middle FB's , but holds on for the BB.
  7. What an awful deal that was. Thank you Dodgers. Carl did not do squat in LA either.
  8. Hasn't developed much in a long time.
  9. Beeks with 3 innings of no hit-no walk , K'ing 7 of 9. The comment about pitching for someone other than Boston or NY is mentally easier may well apply. Of course TB has exactly one hit off Happ in the 5th inning.
  10. Can't have a slow game when both pitchers are efficient and only a few reach base. Prefer this one to stretch out starting in top 7
  11. Moreland scorches it to the deepest part of the warning track
  12. Beeks came in for the 2nd inning and did not give up the 1st inning run to NY. Now he's through the third and hasn't allowed a run nor hit.
  13. Now can Rick settle down and refocus, or blow it up ??
  14. As long as the big lead in the East lasts, I'm sure Cora will give Devers plenty of reps to find himself but he certainly needs to recognize pitches better. Try looking at a few without swinging until the pitcher comes to the strike zone. He's a virtual auto 0-2 coming up right now, without a pitch in the zone.
  15. Yanks up 1-0 in top 3rd
  16. No need for pitchers to throw Devers a strike.
  17. Porcello is very efficient tonight and that is a good sign. Has his curve ball working well, and spotting strikes on the corners
  18. The 10 pitch at bats by Beni are interesting to OB and Eck, but so far all those pitches have accounted for 3 outs out of 9 featuring a K and a DP
  19. Maybe Porcello can DH back in Boston
  20. Take what you get at the plate from Sandy and be happy
  21. The real life Crash Davis getting only a couple cups of coffee over 10 years, but which fan wouldn't trade for that experience . At 31, he has a lot of years left where he can work in the real world.
  22. Based on that interesting assessment from 2012, Ted Williams should have hit cleanup for Boston, not 3rd over those many years. Maybe that 1 victory a year attributed to lineup analysis would have won the AL in '48 and '49 . Ted could have had 3 WS and contributed more to his legend than the 1946 series against the Cardinals. In 1978, one game would have made another big difference. Was Yaz hitting 3rd ??
  23. Thornburg could also be a DL or waiver trade candidate at this point. Hembree certainly is , now that he has become a ROOGY. Telling Velazquez to cool his heels in Pawtucket for 2.5 weeks is most likely unless DD is actively talking to other teams dangling pitchers . The Dodgers just blew 3 games in a row to the Rockies in the 9th with Jansen went on the DL with arrythmia.
  24. I have often thought that putting your worst hitter at #9, especially a slow runner was a wrong tactic.. Why clog the basepaths in front of your quicker, better hitters coming up when the #9 does reach base. Hide your least capable hitter at #8 and work around him.
  25. You finally noticed !! Glad you came over to the dark side. I will give you credit for having the stats, and the biggest one is the 50 games over .500. Someone out there in bullpen land is doing something right.
