  1. Yet another DP because we have a great fielding 1Bman and a $6.25 million back up for him. Don't worry, I'm sure Pearce will be needed at some point.
  2. Never a clean inning. Here comes murderer's row with Smoak up and Galvis on
  3. Time for Betts to step up and tie this game or at least move the line.
  4. EO gets 3 DPs tonight or else the score could be 10-3. No control or command and could be at 100 pitches through 5 innings. The load on the BP has been high, but overall they have dealt well wwith it.
  5. Devers joins Bradley and Price with an rbi. Maybe this can still be a turnaround win. pedey gets his 1 in a lot less AB's than the other guys
  6. 13 games in, 1 great performance by the BP with Velasquez as starter, one decent start (no win) by Sale, and 11 other pure crap
  7. JDM is the still the best rbi hitter I have seen in awhile, or since Ortiz retired
  8. All that hardware to carry home must have kept Mookie from going hard to second on the Jays outfield muff. There is something wrong with these guys and comes from inside.
  9. Even the Bruins give up a shorthanded goal via a penalty shot vs. Toronto
  10. Took a few innings but the walks caught up to Eovaldi and with 2 outs the Jays deliver a 3 run home run. Fortunately the Sox had not scored when they had the chance so Nate didn't give up a lead.
  11. While a loty of focus goes to the Sox starting pitching, that reality is that guys like Devers and Bradley have combined for a 1 rbi to date, matching David Price's total. Bogaerts has 3.
  12. Poor AB's by Bogaerts and Devers cost the Sox a big first inning bases loaded chance.
  13. Luck must be changing to get a difficult deflection DP. Good to see Bogey and Pedroia turn that, plus Mitch's stretch.
  14. When do people think the 1-2 combo of Beni and Betts will kick in, regardless of which one leads off ? Their low OBP's of .314 and .321 are lowest among the top 6 hitters in the lineup. Vazquez, Bradley , Nunez are significantly lower among those with 10 or more AB's so far.
  15. After April 30, the Sox will have played 31 games (barring rainouts). If they want to be 15-16 at that point, they need to go 12-7 (.631 pace) . 16-15 obviously takes 13-6 record(.684 pace) from here on. The 108-54 season was a .667, and the 11-3 playoffs/WS was a .785. This is essentially the same team, discounting Leon, Kimbrel, Kelly , so they could get just below or above .500 with results mimicking 2018's season pace. Easier said than done , but then they did go 17-2 in the same timeframe last year.
  16. Regarding Pedroia, noticing Dustin blocking the base with his left foot on one of the BJ's steals in game 1 of this series , and as noted by Perez, he may be begging for another knee injury That may be Pedey's style and tough play but at this stage caution may be the better part of valor.
  17. In the spirit of the Bad News Bears, Jackie should adopt the nickname, Bad Luck Bradley. Would be nice for him to break out.
  18. Sarcasm, one more service provided for free.
  19. This bulletin just in from Pawtucket : (Caution-SSS) Sandy Leon is hitting .133 ; OPS .321 with 2 singles in 15 SB's. Juan Centeno in very limited action is 4 for 6 , all singles. So nothing much to indicate a turnaround by millionaire Leon. FWIW, (not much) Bryce Brentz is also 1 for 12 putting little pressure on Beni or Betts to get hot. On the other hand Mike Miller at SS is cranking up the volume at 7 for 18 (.389), with 2 doubles and a HR. What's that you say, we just signed a SS to a long extension ? Oh well another flameout at the AAA level. Honestly, a young developing prospect at Pawtucket has got to be discouraged when they look at the MLB team openings. I don't think Tzu Wei Lin will be the long term answer at second, and Sam Travis has not shown any breakthrough ability at first. Be nice to get a starting pitcher , Mike Sharwyn is 1-0 with a 3.18 ERA over 11 innings and a 1.06 WHIP
  20. I would also pay the price of a trade off, but don't think it will be necessary. The old reversion to the mean (barring injury) will kick in at some point. Look at it again at the end of May , when 2/3rds of the season +- remain. There are certainly some position players/hitters who are asleep right now compared to their talent levels. These guys need to come around. The starting pitching is inexplicable but the bullpen hasn't imploded. Having said that Brewer gave up the winning run on 3 hits in the 9th in AZ, yesterday's performance in tough conditions was not good allowing runs following the Sox scores. Catching ? Who knows if it is a factor. Hopefully AC does.
  21. 2 solo HR's and 1 for 9 W/RISP.
  22. Beni, Blake and Betts .
  23. now time for Beni to show up. Blake needs an unbroken bat next time
  24. Very glad to see some discipline and patience by JBJr. There is hope yet if Blake can get a hit
  25. Nice hit by Pedey. Glad for him and hope it gets the team rolling in the 9th
