  1. Poor throw by Swihart gets past Nunez into CF where JBJr should have had a pickup and throw to 3rd to nail Semian but Mr. Defense can't pick up the ball cleanlyThen Hol;t and Moreland combine to make a tough play, throw and stretch to get the third out with the run scoring. Barnes looking pretty strong.
  2. Benintendi is inexplicable. Betts is in the midst of a package shrinking slump that extends back into last year. JBJr has never changed, always was a chaser with no plate discipline. Beni, Holt, Nunez and Bradley hitting a combined .384. Throw in Mookie and you get to .584
  3. Time for the horseshit hitters to wake up. The pitching was no problem but no one can get a key hit. Complacency, slow Spring progressions, WS hangover, whatever. Show some spark and attitude before getting your extension done. Sale, as last year , deserved a win here.
  4. Sure wish he could hit a baseball. i have to laugh at all the electrons wasted on talkng about his next contract or extension.
  5. ack to back shutouts ?? 4 losses in a row ? Hope they pull it out in the 9th or this is a major failure by a number of guys who think they are big time.
  6. At the risk of small sample disease, there is the chance that Mookie's slump through his 62 AB's in the 2018 post season is still in effect(.210/.623, 1 HR/4rbi's) His stats after last year's All-Star game were certainly not bad, (.329/.995, 9HR/29 rbis)but couldn't compare favorably with his pre A-S numbers which were excellent (.359/1.139, 23HR/59rbis). Even ST showed a .238/.661 , 1 HR effort in 42 AB's Don't know if fatigue last year, or something technical in his swing this year is holding him back, but the Sox need him back to his prior excellence.
  7. Last year this very similar team never lost more than 3 games consecutively. This current hot mess can keep that string going with a much needed win tonight . Still looking for 5-6 road trip. This opening schedule really was brutal after spending over 2 months in Ft. Myers to go west for 11 consecutive games . The guys haven't been in their own place for 3 months.
  8. When I think of the hitter I'd like to see at bat in a game on the line situation, it's JDM, not Mookie. In the OF, there's little question who can play the best. I'd want 3 players for Mookie . 2 MLB'er's about 24 years old, and a AAA prospect ready to play next year. An OF'er and 2 pitchers.
  9. A total of 21 innings by starters , out of 41 pitched, allowing 11 HR's. That is why we are generally playing from behind .
  10. 2 out walks by Price. Play with fire and pitch longer. Turns that walk into another two run homer by Oakland. Wastes an otherwise good outing, now just another POS starter
  11. JBJr just loves to swing at pitches (on 3-2) that otherwise would hit him. Nothing new here Could have been a lead off walk, but flies out foul to left, having missed a few fastball with fouls And Vazquez is clueless behind him Betts gets no result except to have outmaker Beni lead off next inning.
  12. If the offense had scored 3 or more, Price would be getting credit for a great start through 5.
  13. Price striking out 8 of 13 shows something going right, but overshadowed by the 2 HR's in the face of no offense
  14. Interesting that Keuchel and Kimbrel still haven't found teams willing to pay their price.
  15. Same as last year. Eduardo has the vote of Cora for no good reason. Eddie did have a 2 rbi hit yesterday when others couldn't touch the ball in a key situation
  16. 2 out walks, and 3-2 singles with 2 outs will stretch the pitch count, as you can see. Price was pretty efficient until the last 12 pitches
  17. Top 4 in the lineup posting an 0-8 effort through 4. But it's early, 15 outs to go.
  18. Like the foul pole, which is actually in fair territory, are the A's 2 blasts, Home Runs or Run Homes (with no chance of being out) ? Price looked good for 2 except for the big hits, which our hitters haven't matched yet.
  19. Well Davis must have hit it 4.5 miles. The HR derby vs our starters continues
  20. It didn't occur to Moreland to take second on the throw and tag at home?
  21. I believe you have figured correctly. Mookie likely feels he can command money somewhere between Harper and Trout, and owes himself that potential shot.
  22. Wasn't implying it was Pedey's fault. Just that the dead money contracts, for whatever reason, come with a considerable penalty if you still have to replace the time on the field. I hope we get an effective Pedroia for another 2 -3 years . Actually more concerned about Sale's longevity , even with his favorable AAV.
  23. Being on the West Coast, I can watch these games in a normal timeframe but really love the home or any Eastern time game which end early enough to still have some summer activities in the evening. The penalty is living in California (or Oregon/Washington for that matter) and paying more for anything/everything when taxes and fees are included, especially gasoline. Anyway, I'll text everyone the outcome with a special beep to wake you up when Price finally gets them a starters win.
  24. Here's what can't be afforded . Players who can't stay on the field and play at the level that earned their compensation in the first place. Pedroia is #1 ???? in the current parade . Sale needs to keep his shoulder and arm attached despite his fairly unorthodox throwing motion for another 5 years. David Price needs to stay upright for more than a few years. The Moreland, Pearce, Nunez days will come to a natural end, to be filled by MLB minimum salary type guys if they can graduate MiLB. JDM's limited time in the field could prolong his DH career , and Bogaerts hasn't been an injury problem, except when hit by a pitch. Porcello may need to go for salary sakes and maybe , finally, the Sox can develop D. Hernandez to be a starter, better than Erod. Mookie Betts will be an interesting test case for FA superstars . Just don't see the Red Sox closing that loop and keeping him long term. I think the players taking the extensions and possibly forgoing a mega FA contract are making smart moves because all of them are in the $100 million++ range which is generational money for them and their families .
  25. At least the surging Orioles are leading NYY 7-4 in the 8th.
