  1. All of the above notes were written before Thornburg's atrocious outing in last night's 9th inning. He really has problems that are not resolved . Cora is giving him plenty of rope to hang himself and TT is is becoming a knot master at it.
  2. Thornburg's ineptitude forces Barnes to spend another fast warm up session unnecessarity. What a shitbird.
  3. 31 games played, almost 20% of the season and the starters still have 3 combined victories. Walden is the A-S candidate with 4 W's ( if TT finishes)
  4. Thornburg may be getting the IL ride soon if he can't do something about his crap throwing
  5. looks like Thornburg is the new closer, errr, holder. See if he can complete a 1-2-3 inning, just once on about 14 pitches.Forget it, Chapman tags his first pitch for a double.
  6. Chapman robs 3 kids of a possible foul ball souvenir. The kids should have bit his arm or dumped cotton candy on his face
  7. Note to JBJr and others. Be like Christian V. Hit the first strike you see very hard and watch it go far away. Great swing by Vaz on a really Dull pitcher
  8. Pearce has made himself highly expendable ( and expensive, not his fault) . He could be very vulnerable once one of the numerous IL 2Bmen do return, or if Lin picks it up by default. One thing to note about Chavis at first is that Moreland vs RH'ers would get the most reps , delaying MC's development . But history tells us MM would be unlikely to play a full season injury free.
  9. Why did you name your boy Tzu instead of Sue /
  10. It won't last for long but for all the trashing and sweeping of the A's this week, their record is 14-18, about to be 14-19. The Sox are at 13-17, about to be 14-17, putting the A's in the rear view mirror for the next 5 months. With this win we will be on our way to .500, then much better , with the White Sox (12-14) for 4 and Orioles(10-20) for 3 coming up on the road.
  11. You may well be right and he is just slumping . In that case trade or DFA him now while he has some residual value ( joke, sarcasm, lol). He will be back, so to speak.
  12. I am telling all concerned that is not the same JDM swinging the bat that we are used too. He may not be complaining but I would bet it all the back is not 100%, or he has let the injury get in his head momentarily.
  13. I think after the initial series in Oakland, many of us would have traded JBJr for Laureano, yet in this series he has been a dog. Beni's short fly was the CF's ball similar to Bradley and Betts confusion several games ago. Oakland really is awful on defense.
  14. Lin cements his future with a leg hit and rbi. Very nice to see the lower end contributing. Now for Beni the bunter to slam one.
  15. Actually a good day at bat for JBJr, working the 3-2 walk and getting a line drive hit, and a hard shot at the fielder
  16. We seem to have missed thanking Marcus Walden for 3 innings of 1 hit ball on 31 pitches, followed by Workman getting his inning with only 12 pitches, indicating command and control by both pitchers. Actually a pretty good bullpen game today
  17. Tyler D and Thunder check post #15 way back early in this thread and tell me what you think of MLB's new idea.
  18. the fact that you have to question whether it was sarcasm is challenging. Not sure Thunder has done that class at UCONN yet
  19. Glad you see how both guys have made monumental shifts in their value to the winning outcome. Extend both now while they are hot
  20. Thank Beni for executing what was needed. And Mookie brought the run in. Excellent team play. Amazing difference when the 7-8-9 hitters get on base (each) just once a game
  21. Tzu Wei Lin's double changes the entire scenario at 2B for the rest of the season. Now he's a contender after Bogey gets his rest.
  22. Is Kimmi TV worthy ? I think NESN should provide a scrolling feed of Talksox game threads so other fans can now what is really going on during these games.
  23. Will he stay on pace to play the whole season (say 140 games ) ? Personally I hope so and have always liked watching him. Pretty much the definition of a professional.
