  1. Sudden Sale is up to 96. Must be the glove Leon is wearing with its ball attractor/accelerator device
  2. Suddenly the Sale-Leon tandem conquers the first inning like it was 2018.
  3. Then stir the pot and make something happen. Some may not know the game started a bit early
  4. Very quick 3 and out, so now we get to see if Mr. Leon can miraculously cure Mr. Sale's recent deficiencies.
  5. Interesting that about 5 out of 9 Yankee starters are somewhat unrecognizable or previously marginal players.
  6. Even if Beni returns in a few days to a week, I'm thinking the foot will hurt like hell ( a la Mitch Moreland in '17) and affect Beni's approach AB and when running. This could be a problem at lead off where the ability to steal is a real plus .
  7. Vazquez, Bradley, Nunez, Pearce, Pedroia and Holt all hitting below .200 and especially Mookie at .222/.737 OPS are more indicators of guys not helping the cause.
  8. You are right. The time to re-energize this bunch is now , not the end of May. Too bad Swihart had to be the odd man out, but that's high level professional athletics . If it does nothing more than calm the weak minds on the mound, it will be a step in the right direction for a team that quickly lost its way. There may need to be a similar move in the bullpen beyond Walden's demo. Thornburg or Brewer need to check the roster daily going forward.
  9. Hard to argue that. I was tempted to speculate that by mid summer the Sox would make a major move at catcher by-passing Swihart and Leon, but deferred the speculation because it seemed "too early". Now , I'll say look for a different veteran catcher to show up within 60 days.
  10. If Porcello and Sale respond well to the return of Leon, then I say f*** those two. If you can't throw effective pitches, don't tell me the catcher is your problem. Swihart , in fact, did not look especially good behind the plate (blocking pitches in place) and his hitting approach looked bad the last few AB's. So , no real objection to the DFA move, but it better not be in response to possible whining from some half assed throwers who are impersonating a couple of the Sox staff.
  11. 5 games over the next 6 with Yankees and Rays will help clarify where this season may be going. Maybe everyone has the flu (probably from Holt's boy).
  12. This is a beatdown of a lifeless team by an inferior opponent. One addition, JDM never quits.
  13. The scaffolding around the cathedral indicates it was under refurbishment. Maybe hot sparks from a welder sets it off, but that is a disaster for Paris.
  14. Especially with 3 seasons of contract to complete (19-20-21). Forget the lux tax hit but someone will eventually have to tell him he's done. Some of the others like Pearce, Nunez, maybe Porcello won't be so difficult to move on no later than end of this season, if not July 31.
  15. Giving Chris Davis new life this weekend is a rare treat. This Red Sox team needs a do over in FT. Myers for about two weeks. Really about as bad as it can get, including offense, defense, etc.
  16. Ironic that Benintendi was scheduled for a day off Sunday, but with JBJr's flu had to stay in the lineup long enough to bruise his foot on a foul. Bet he misses Monday's game and maybe more. Holt, the super utility guy will need the rest of the week to get medically cleared, then some Pawtucket AB's to try and get to speed. Meanwhile the 13 pitchers are a luxury they may not afford much longer. Some changes are coming, but the overall slow start isn't being helped by the fluctuating lineup over the next week.
  17. Good win, good pitching, key hit.
  18. I would actually hate for that to come true but be expecting a call from the 702
  19. No, I hate to disappoint you , but your fellow UCONN guy, Mattt Barnes, nibbled his way into a leadoff walk after getting the 3 run cushion
  20. What played well in that inning is that with the game on the line the true regulars, Betts-Martinez-Bogaerts, came through big. Pearce and Nunez is in their last Boston seasons, Pedey hasn't got it together yet.
  21. You are in Good Hands, my Progressive Farmer
  22. Bogaerts delivers the goods. Never saw so much power out of what appears to be a one handed swing
  23. Martinez remains amazing. Too bad Mookie wan't on second
  24. Thought Mookie might run when Pearce got to 0-2 to avoid a DP or set up JDM for an rbi single
  25. And some guys hit it back just as hard
