  1. 2 out, 2 run HRs really help in an otherwise tight game. Thanks, Wilyer ! Gio should keep the shutout goin g.
  2. It took awhile but I think Masa just equaled Wong's RBI total
  3. Bres and AC lucky that Yoshi didn't tell them to go suck sushi when they showed him where 1B was located.
  4. No laughing when Masa gets up and cracks an HR. The crowded clubhouse just got a little fuller. Breslow needs to showcase Yoshida, and get some hitting to even begin to discuss trades involving our man Masa
  5. All wins count, but tomorrow's game is the next one ( and only one) to win and go 4 over with the Rays coming in . Need to get 2-2 split with them to roll into the A-S break and then the trade deadline .
  6. Baseball is funny. Rockies slop tossing LH pitcher in Fenway stymies them for 6 innings. Then the manager overmanages and gets the Sox up to 10 runs
  7. Not expecting Bregman to be raking upon his return, but if Story can continue his rampage, then the left side of the infield makes the lineup really stronger. Put Story on 2B and Mayer at SS ( or just leave it as is) and this team can roll Also hold on to Duran just for grins
  8. Banging on trash cans ? Oh, you mean with his incredible hot bat ! You would think he will be a popular name in upcoming trade talks, but he is so far and above guys like Hamilton, Sogard, Eaton that Breslow should keep Romy. No explaining Wong. He cannot even hit a hard ground ball.
  9. Real glad these guys check TalkSox between innings AND can follow directions to start hitting
  10. Time for the hitters to support Bello's 6 inning shutout . He may be able to go 8 with his 71 pitch count.
  11. i know, it's nuts that he can't find one. But then he has trouble catching them too
  12. When did Breslow trade for Brayan Bello's cousin, the strike throwing, highly efficient pitcher ? Amazing performance so far. As O'B and Merloni said, BB has been pretty good in his last 6 outings, but the team only won 5 behind him. If this season finishes 1 or 2 short of playoffs, just recall the 1 run loss record and extra inning games too.
  13. If seeing the names Kelly, I. Campbell and Hendriks in the same posts don't give you heartburn, what will,? 5 chili dogs and a soda ? Makes it very clear ( same as last year), that the BP is where there must be some productive editions. Sims and Garcia were strikeouts in 2024. Hope there is better pickings this time around.
  14. Despite pitching being a #1 priority and scarcity, I think Breslow would have to take advantage of moving Buehler , maybe in a package, to get a real upgrade starter or reliever, especially one with some contractual control.
  15. Barring injury as a cause to miss the 140 IP mark, would Breslow instruct Cora to hold Gio back at any time strictly for contractual purposes ? How would Giolito react to being manipulated, if it comes to that ? Personally, I do not think the FO would do that type of a move, especially if Sox were in contention. If they were out of the WC chase in mid September, then all bets are off .
  16. Recent beat ups of weaker teams has given us some encouragement and forward thinking whether this team can reach the playoffs, much less make a run in them. At 47-45, the Sox have 70 games remaining . Last year the Royals and Tigers made the playoffs with 86 wins. To reach 86 , the Red Sox would need to finish 39-31, 8 games over .500 , a .557 win rate. There are 8 teams currently at or above .557 win rates, and 6 of those are division leaders . The Rays and Yankees have not played to that win rate this year. As others have noted, the series against teams ahead of the Sox , starting with 4 vs the Rays , between now and the deadline will tell you if this team has a chance. Breslow said the team would do better after Dever's departure and the time to back that up is between now and July 31. Then navigate the woeful August-Septembers of the last 3 years.
  17. So, you're saying this game is already won ? Not so fast, my friend. It has to be played between the lines or out of the basepaths to get the true result. Looking for Bello to dominate this one and insure the win.
  18. In response to the thread question , the answer is yes, trading Devers was the right thing to do. The many reasons have been worn out in all the posts above but in a simple way, the commitment of the FO/Ownership to rebuild the MiLB system with young, cost controlled guys over the next 5+- years is now reaching fruition in Rafaela, Anthony, Mayer and Narvaez is a lucky pick bonus by Breslow. Devers marches to his own drummer and chose not to be a factor in the team building. I think the FO considered him a poor example for the other young players. Devers is not exceptional in terms of a complete ballplayer , and while statistically an upper half hitter , he was not going to get better over the coming years. Beyond that I just thought he was an arrogant, lazy prick with great immaturity .
  19. Well with each loss the Rockies shot at getting back to .500 is diminishing. Red Sox on the other hand are guaranteed of being at or over .500 through Wednesday night. Two teams in the same universe but heading away from each other
  20. Duran and Narvaez come through to build a cushion with 6 outs to go. It will be quite a decision for Breslow if he has to decide between Duran and Abreu to get pitching. I know the analytics favor moving the older Duran but he can be exciting and may be a great teammate type. tough choice but the system is full at the MLB and MiLB levels with young, cheap talent. More credit to Breslow's team for finding Narvaez. And for dumping the contract of the former DH.
  21. Mayer can play vs LH'ers when he starts kissing Cora's 2018 WS ring. At least , no Hamilton yet.
  22. Runners on 2B and 3B, 1 out, followed by 2 K's. Better hug that 2 run lead, it was almost gone
  23. Don't know how much Eaton has actually played 3B in MiLB, but he looked like a fool on that sequence.
  24. Anthony is turning out to be the hitter as advertised. He is now whacking LH'ers as well as RH'ers. Not to be overlooked, even if it is the Rockies, that Fitts put up 5.2 innings with no earned run and only 1 unearned, thanks to the inevitable error. Reminds me that AC better ask Trevor Story if he would mind going back to 2B and let Mayer work at SS. Story's arm is not strong. This is a win to now lock down.
  25. It would advance the cause to get to 4 games over vis another sweep before taking on the Rays and moving to A-S game. While it is an honor for Crochet and Chapman , I would be happier if they do not pitch in that game. Let's see if the hitters can stay active at Fenway tonight. Need to get Fitts the backing for a win
