  1. Sox need one more Bregman, Mr. 3 run jack, in the lineup. I'm sure Schwarber could be pried from the Phillies.
  2. Needless to say, Christian Vazquez learned about hitting with RISP during his tenure in Boston. Fitts needs to learn the power of a first pitch strike.
  3. Tor has come back to earth, Yoshi has not left the launch pad, both sub .600 OPS's over a meaningful stretch. Yes, a couple of pitchers could really help but there are no real power hitters except bregman, and sometimes Story and Abreu but both are streaky.
  4. Is Hamilton this year's Dave Roberts ? No, once Mayer gets his wrist loosened up, Hammie is gone again, if not at the TDL
  5. One question as the 2B hole reopens , given Mayer's injury . Did the Sox burn Kristian Campbell mentally by bringing him up too soon, giving him a contract , demoting him to WooSox, trying a new position, and now he is not performing well at all on the hitting side ? Just a ???
  6. Sox need to follow up on the Dodgers series win, and the so-so previous 6 against division leaders with at least 2 W's vs Twins going into the TDL. One key would be to get tonight's win with Richard Fitts pitching. As others have noted Fitts has been having fits getting innings finished with 2 outs . This game counts and the Sox will need a closer for the bottom 9th if they can get the lead. Hicks throws hard but that is the issue, he is a thrower first and fotremost.
  7. Say it again, Sox pitchers never ready for first inning. Will the lineup be ready or 3 and out ?
  8. Making a very wild card call that Connor Wong will get a key hit tonight, tripling his RBIO totals for 2025. Wishing him luck !
  9. Maybe there should be a set of standings for woulda-coulda-shoulda and one set that ignores 1 run games or extra innings. The W-L's are misleading because they don't include dWar and other advanced metrics that only tell you what happened, not what is currently trending .
  10. Dear Max, I was including in the 12 games , the 3 vs the Twins which run July 28-30. That concludes the games prior to the TDL. Sox are off on the 31st . Your lectures are getting very tiring . put me on ignore and I'll do the same for you because i think you are an ugly cheerleader
  11. Sox batters ( there are few hitters) get schooled by an experienced MLB pitcher . The lineup composition had little to do with it BUT it does emphasize that the Red Sox 13 position players are no playoff match for anyone except maybe the Yankees. While it might be a feel good to be the 3rd WC, it matters not in terms of being a good/great team. And this current run of futility is not over, not even halfway through these 12 games that "define the season"
  12. This team is now officially and fully F'ed up . Plenty of opportunity to right the ship over the next 2 months but they are showing all the weaknesses
  13. Certainly not in the first inning. The LH'er Sanchez sits them down on about 12 pitches. Bregman regrettably either can't run well due to his quad or maybe he shouldn't be playing full time. Facing LH'ers messes the youth up
  14. Time to find out how resilient this team may be in the final 62 . The Sox need to make a comeback game vs a very good pitcher. Have they got any gas in the tank tonight ?
  15. I watched the game more closely than usual, avoiding commenting here . But, if you can't see what has happened since the 10 game streak then you can continue to squabble over the fine points. Several players took a massive step back from their disciplines and habits pre-A-S break and the results are showing. Some are playing like it's April and early. These type losses make Breslow's decisions all the harder because short of a quick turnaround the next 8 games will lead to a weak TDL build up of the team.
  16. Add Tanner Houck to the Dobbins-Crawford list of injuries to guys who will not pitch again for Boston this year. Tanner's extended rehab stint has aggravated his flexor strain and sets him back, wayyyyy baaack. The Red Sox apparent surplus of potential starters this year certainly took a nose dive. Up to Breslow to solve this dilemma with 1 or even two acquisitions for the mound core.
  17. Seattle also a loser today, helping the standings . Not quite time for serious scoreboard watching yet , but W-L's are the only stat that matters for a team that wants a chance, however slight, at a WS ring.
  18. Houck is apparently back to ground zero with his pronator strain in the right arm. Usually a precursor to TJ repair . I think Tanner is done for this year, joining Crawford ( what was his off field accident ?) and Dobbins as non factors for 2026. This makes it essential that Brez does get , at minimum, a #3 or better in the next 2 weeks . Pay the price and pull this team into the playoffs.
  19. Rays lose, Yanks and BJ's win. A reasonable outcome for a slow starting team after the break. I want to know how much the Stat Masterson anal-ysts are making out the lineup vs AC and coaches with some baseball sense.? We have 2 more LH'ers coming up ( I think) in Phillie. Put the "A": lineup on and win 2 of 3 there.
  20. Love that comeback and power surge to get on track. Crochet was excellent to hold it at 1-0 until Abreu-Bregman-Abreu gave the BP some relief room.
  21. So eerily similar to early season, one run games, down early, nothing happening, finally a late game big hit and now they need another 9 outs to lock it down. Who has the 9 outs?
  22. Off topic, But I saw Devers in the SF/Toronto game for 2 AB's. 1. He has lost about 20 pounds . 2. He still K's out of zone pitches. 3. He did hit a 325' line drive at 115mph one bounce off the wall for a single. His groin hurts.
  23. 1 run scored in 21 innings now. These team wide slumps are inexplicable . Nobody even crushing the outs .
  24. I won't go all hyperbolic on you, but IMO this is a must win. Stop the lazy slide, our ace/stopper pitching, need keep close to the pace, need to beat better teams on the road , show some ability to figure out a pitcher early and get the oppo bullpen up and down 5 times. Avoid the sweep !
