Keep in mind that Neto is coming from a smal market team. LAA is not Los Angeles. He has never played for a winning team. He is relatively young and has some talent but I would be very reluctant to bring him to Boston

Tonight's lineup was not smart and the Sox let a young pitcher befuddle them. Then Tracy let Bennett go a new inning too long based on pitch count

13 innings vs a weak team , and all the Sox runs came on one swing of the bat with a caught ball that fell out of the glove on a tough play.

Not the best lineup mostly because Romy G no longer hits anything, and Abreu in a slump. Gonzalez shows it by leaving a leadoff double by Jones at 2nd. Abreu rolls into a DP.

I like the optimism, but the Sox final regular season game is September 27, just less than 2 months ( call it 9 weeks) . The bone healing period will be minimum 6 weeks, and rehab of the idled arm/wrist will be at least 3 more. At best, Mead could be considered for the playoffs, but very rusty.

Breslow must be the one unluckiest SOB in the league ! Had he not made a deal "early" Mead would not have been out there last night. Had Tracy not juggled the lineup moving Rafaela down to 5th, Mead would have been OK, but Cedanne's Grand Slam would not have happened. So I will take what happened and the win, but I will never stand near Breslow if a thunderstorm is predicted.

I notice that Aroldis is getting near his 40 inning trigger for the auto contract clause giving him a $13 MM guarantee for 2027 . Chapman is at 34.2 innings , so 6 more appearances should get it. He also has some incentive bonuses ranging from $100K to $1 million depending on his voting position (5-1) in 2 different reliever of the Year tallies. Cot's is showing that the '27 deal is a mutual option with a $300K buyout , so, if true, Aroldis could teat the market potentially. If the Sox had continued their pre June 25 losing pace, Aroldis would be a great trade candidate but given the current standings I doubt there is anyway Brez would move him , same for Sonny Gray.

When you look at their full stat lines, Abreu and Rafaela are having very similar seasons , including the most important stat: AVAILABILTY Cedanne has played in 101 of 105 games and Wilyer in 103 . Contrares has racked up 98 games, despite his 5 day vacay, and Duran also has 98 games played. Predictably, these 4 guys are the RBI leaders in the clubhouse .

Apparently there may be some hope for Campbell based on recent hitting at WooSox. Maybe he can have a strong August and reintroduce himself to his employers in a useful capacity. With the TDL just around the corner would you include him in a package deal trade now to a team willing to take a chance, perhaps for a RP/SP ? I would not hesitate to move him with others for a reasonable return. The past 12 months of Campbell shows some fundamental issue , though that may be that he was just mentally unready for big time baseball and the pressure Boston brings. Emotionally/mentally immature ?? -
If the story is accurate and Mead is in a wrist cast for 6 weeks, his arm will wither and atrophy leaving him out of action for the rest of the season and playoffs. He will need 6-8 weeks to heal the bone and 3 weeks to reload the arm/wrist and then he will modify his swing to accomodate residual soreness and never get a basehit for Boston . I am only hoping he doesn't get to meet Mr. Anthony and compare pain levels

Anxious to get the accurate story on this incident and its outcome . Mead had plenty of arm and hand armor on to prevent this but the pitch hit where they aint ( wasn't) It was noted in the game thread that a broken/chipped bone was likely and Mead would become another Red Sox footnote needing a resting period to avoid messing up his swing. Sad turn of events Let's note that in his short career as a RS, Mead did have a .500 OBP, but a -0- slugging %, -0- BA and a 100% K rate. Auspicious beginning. And sure enough , Mead was mentioned as a below par fielder but it was his replacement, Seigler, who butchered a potential game ending DP , making Chapman throw a lot more pitches. Still need a pro 2Bman, and SS though I like Monasterio's bat recently

The Sox middle infield through the 15 game streak and now after makes you wonder why it is the key to a great defense. It has been a AAAA'er effort for a month

I will be watching Chapman to see if walks or gives hit to leadoff batter. Shut this down and get the win on a night with only 1 hit that mattered
