  1. Maybe play one tomorrow and PH in the other if his back allows. Last time after the spasms, JD was not swinging the bat well. Effectively you have Nunez subbing for JDM. This is where Chavis's problems hitting are a real problem for the Sox.
  2. Weber choked on a chicken bone today and virtually eliminated himself as any serious participant . Josh Taylor didn't do much either.
  3. To show how worthless the Save stat is, barnes gets one for his 20 pitch 1 run effort. Take the win and runaway.
  4. When did that feeling first manifest itself, Mr. A ?
  5. Barnes is saying, Eat this SS
  6. That was actually a big run to save from the lead off double. Hembree did what was called for.
  7. I like Hembree. You steal 3rd on the mighty me and i'll throw at your batter.
  8. It's always nice to get the one out before giving up the Porcello.
  9. Feel bad for him and the team but once Moreland gets back from his back, Michael needs rest and retraining. He's helping no one, mostly himself at this point.
  10. The issue of Rick's replacement at this stage is misdirection. Making him a QO is similar to Kimbrel, even if you think he won't take it. It can be a negotiating tool to get a little better deal (shorter term/lower AAV) If not taken, the outcome could be very similar to Kimbrel and Keuchel sitting out a few months. The question is what term and cost will Rick assign to himself, compared to how much will it cost to fill 180-200 innings. Who is his replacement if gone ?? Unknown right now, but does someone think there will be no starters on the trade or FA market next winter ? Personally, I think Porcello is a reliable long term starter with little history of arm , shoulder or knee problems. I would make him a fair offer and lock down another part of the rotation to go with Price and Sale. Or, as as I said, if DD has no interest in going forward for other reasons that we don't know, move Rick mid-season and get some value back. Who would replace him this July ?? The same person who would take his turn if he falls down in the shower tomorrow . Steven Wright/Wrong, assuming he can pitch at all, which is questionable. He is reaching his 80 day get out of jail card in a few weeks. Or Darwinzon . Or Sonny Gray for all I know.
  11. On the field and in the clubhouse, the players (hopefully) are in the moment as you say. But there are about 10 other hours a day, aside from bad dreams, for them to think about themselves. These guys have had big egos and strong self images since Little League due to their success. If you don't think media coverage or fan reaction matters to these guys, off the field, you haven't dealt with enough professional athletes, politicians, or CEO's. It does matter and has some influence on them. Different personalities and mental makeups allow some to deal effectively with it and respond with success, and others go hide in their locker. Ryan Leaf comes to mind.
  12. That would be the ultimate sequence. Consider it done.
  13. Can you forward this to Chavis? I think Devers has found similar keys that helped Bogaerts, and he is now a force.
  14. That was all Sandy Leon, no question.
  15. I'd like to see Cora come out after the next (#100) pitch and go to Brewer. Sale would murder him right there
  16. Bad news, SWI... Kimmi will spank you for inferring that any overhand thrown baseball can rise. Only lady softball pitchers use the rise ball. Oh, and maybe submarine pitchers.
  17. You realize Wright should be eligible again before this month is out (80 games). It will be interesting to see if gets used.
  18. Jinxes, like Cliffs, Momentum, Clutch and Lineup Protection are fig newtons of your imagination. The metrics prove it.
  19. The Immaculate left arm of Chris Sale. I think we will see a CG shutout because if Cora tries to lift him, Alex may be singing falsetto in the shower
  20. I'll stick with 4 innings (maybe +), 5 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, 3 K's.
  21. Dialed that number, cold call, using the Las Vegas area code and now have 2 pizzas on the way from about 275 miles away. Should be here by midnight, might need to rewarm a little.
  22. So you say we have a chance ?
  23. Let the bats win a game with less than stellar pitching. That was DD's game plan going into the season.
  24. Pretty fair assessment of Chavis' swing. I would leave the low and away til the last because I see guys like JDM, Betts and Bogey still chasing those. You are right, get the upper zone FB first. To do so he may have to conciously lower the launch angle. The 10 long distance HR's early on helped the team but not Chavis who thought this would go on forever. He really should watch video of Devers from his early days through the current Devers to get a clue.
  25. Swihart's Ghost---No way, LOL.. That was a gutsy screen name for our man here to go with. I give him credit.
