  1. 3 pitchers today who should still be at Pawsox. Smith, Shawaryn and Taylor. Brewer could use some work there too. Weber is now gone . 23 pitchers have earned stats for the Sox this year . Aside from the 5 original starting pitchers, that is 18 guys out of the pen looking for about 6 reliable relievers.
  2. I'm not seeing a lot of beards on the Rays pitchers. Could be they are not old enough to grow one . Otherwise, I'd suggest our guys start shaving and see if that helps.
  3. Pretty good assessment of this OF. I wish this was Mookie's contract year . He is a real letdown.
  4. Perkins was the perfect actor for that role. Wackier than Piersall himself.
  5. On a serious note, the Rays have had good pitching for about a decade or more with virtually no budget. Some person(s) must have been in charge of the pitching development. Why hasn't John Henry busted out the checkbook and hired away those people? What exactly does Brian Bannister , the Sox VP of Pitching Development, see coming here over the next few years ? It's yet manifested itself on the mound.
  6. You're missing Bad News Bears. Matthau should have been awarded the Oscar for that classic. Who recalls "Fear Strikes Out" ?
  7. SS has made the fatal first reference to "Next year". Mark it down on June 8, 2019. DD really does have some major work cut out for the next off season.
  8. I think that is a good idea Swi. It will only get more frustrating expecting some type of a turnaround. Check back in late July. JBJr may be hotter than the weather by then.
  9. OB says JBJr has cooled off a bit. 3 for 15---that's a .200 average, which, OB, is better than his actual season average of .188. So he's still "hot"
  10. Brewer is a total sack of crap. Another curveballing reliever. Can anyone just throw a tough FB strike?
  11. Nice move by Leon to keep the score close enough to care. Oh and just for the fun of it the f'ing MVP is hitting .238/.744 over the last 30 days.
  12. Using other words, f*** Chavis. Wasn't ready for MLB, got lucky when no one was looking and now sucks 2 ways.
  13. There's a lot you can say about this team right now, but little of it good. $13 million of vet 1Bman on the DL, Your best rbi/power hitter with a bad back, every 5th day, you start a non-entity. your brightest rookie is a mental case with nothing but K's in his future. Then you bring in Brewer to pick up a game that could be, in another universe, winnable and he walks 2 to start his inning. Really bad stuff going on.
  14. Chirinos still with the perfect game ? Perfect
  15. Start the fire---Kiermeier or JBJr??
  16. Sorry Eck, that was not a good throw home from medium LF, but enough to hold the runner with no outs
  17. Playing the shift in a DP situation ? Then cross up with Sandy advances them, drawn in IF. Walk the big guy and go back to DP situation
  18. Lowe a LH hitter takes two shots (2 hits) to LF, left center. Hope somebody is watching for second time through the Sox lineup.
  19. Talk about tipped pitches. If you have 0-2, 1-2 counts Leon will call the high FB, and our pitchers, almost all of them will deliver a FB at about 6' off the ground. What's the point ?
  20. Based on the # of pitches, I'd go with the obvious, center cuts and upper center. Meanwhile Chirinos gets 6 outs on 23 pitches
  21. Got to know your pitcher, Jung, is why I called that on Sandy. Rick used to be a groundball pitcher but in more re recent years, he has become upper zone flyball meister. No worries, 4 bunts and we'll have that run back.
  22. 2018, they jumped the other team and beat them early. This year's impression is we are always playing from behind through 5-6 innings.
  23. Porcello delivers his namesake on a 3-2 change up ?? WTF Sandy
  24. BDR shows up in the first inning, helps prove White Men Can't Jump. Needs a big effort because the BP is on high alert (and missing Weber, LOL) with three game starts in less than 24 hours.
