  1. Third inning with men on base, time to cash in but we are looking to Brock to do so. That wasn't the plan. Oh yes, missing Devers
  2. Must be the rabbit's foot in his pocket that gets him a hit on a popup.
  3. As Splendid mentioned a day or two ago, this team has played the fewest home games in AL, but on the 34 they have played, they are only 17-17 and trying to go under tonight.
  4. Of course, and as usual, run support for Sale leaves little room for errors, physical or mental
  5. You knew the Porcello was coming. A FB/slider pitcher relying on changeups . Is this Leon's calling or Sale's slop ?
  6. Ahh, the LOB and 0 for RISP line is forming to your right. Mookie did get some bad calls but then chased without actually swinging. 2 for last 21 w/RISP.
  7. The Sox have some wicked popper-uppers
  8. Nunez is incredible , wish we had more of his family
  9. Sogard making me think of Gardner Now he'll be trying to take second base
  10. Brock, have to be swinging it with 2 strikes and men on.
  11. Interested to see if the Betts-Beni-Bogaerts-JDM quartet has a response to level up this game
  12. 2 walks, 2strike 2out hit, but finally ends it with OB's dream , a K
  13. The only thrower worse than Beni is Sale tonight.
  14. There's a Porcello coming , watch out.
  15. I think he'll be safe because not conclusive
  16. 11 pitch single by Sogard. That's why he's hitting over .300.
  17. You have to think that Beni & the Betts can only improve from here. Disappointing to see Vazquez sliding back towards Leon country. Chavis is still learning to find his zone and pitch type then drive it. Put the ball in play, son, and wonderful things may happen.
  18. Notin, agree with you on this one. The mystery is more why there are no big time OF prospects at the AAA level . On one hand the Betts/Bradley/Benintendi emergences over the last 4 years have blocked any need for organizational growth here but that doesn't stop talented young players from advancing themselves , right up to the point where DD would be inclined to trade them .
  19. I think the thing bothering some observers are the pitches that JDM chases recently. He used to be very disciplined. If anything back pain or limitations would tend to discourage swinging the bat in favor of letting more pitches go by. The other mystery is that you can clearly see the "book" of a low away slider/curve is out on the street with respect to getting JD out, chasing. He should know that coming up and recognize the pitch a bit earlier . He needs to force the pitcher to go to his FB with a 2-0 or 3-1 count. He may have physical issues, but he is also having some mental lapses as well.
  20. This should not even be a contest. Devers brings more to the party right now than Beni.
  21. Benintendi's name should certainly come up in discussions for obvious reasons : low age, club control , cost. Questions I have is whether Beni has a lot of true upside as a LH hitting , power OF'er in Fenway. Has he tried to contour his hitting approach to the Wall due to the deep RF dimensions, at the expense of his natural abilities? Can he be a .290/.850 hitter with 20-25 HR's/80-90 rbi hitter for the next 5 years or is he a .275 and lower BA, .775 OPS defensive guy with a short arm ? Would I trade him for a #3/#4 veteran starter just to get through 2019 and into the WC play-in? Probably not, and I am not Andrew's biggest fan.
  22. Picture the difference if the FO drafted and developed one future starter every 2 years. 40% of the rotation would be under a $1MM per year and under team control for a good while. See : Rays, Tampa Bay (and possible Montreal Ex-Rays)
  23. Betts, Benintendi and JDM one cause of the lack of early scoring in support of our starters. Maybe it's just an impression but we don't tend to jump the opposing pitcher early on.
  24. Pretty much agree with you guys. I doubt too many have a real appreciation for the number of moving parts and personalities involved in making short term decisions directly affecting the outcome in a W or L, day after day for about 9 months a year.
