  1. Barnes, once again, goes over 20 pitches. Can he save himself??
  2. Looks like Gregorius still beating up on Perez with his HR.
  3. To me the summary on DD's reign vs any other GM is that when Sale and Erod went out of commission, and Workman/Hembree were traded, there was not ONE starter at AA or higher , nor a BP reliever who could be brought up and perform even at minimal level. Phillips Valdez suddenly isn't all that, and neither is Josh Taylor/Marcus Walden. The pitching cupboard was truly bare, and the bus went off the cliff .
  4. Your second sentence is much more grounded in reality than the first. Hoping for Sale and Erod to be significant factors in 2021 is just that hope, given that Sale won't be ready until mid-summer. Elsewhere you say that 2021 FA signings or trades need to include some multi-year key players. Absolutely, since 2021 will be highly unpredictable , given the base we are starting from. One given, IMO, is that JDM will not exercise his departure option and will stay in Boston for 2021. Very unlikley the winter market will feature big money and term deals for 33 year old one dimensional guys. JD needs to take his $22million and swing away on 3-0 for Boston.
  5. Agreed, that was the ultimate pipedream which would only have irritated all concerned when he signed with LA anyway. Betts was never staying in Boston.
  6. Peraza and x tighten this pitcher's duel up at 10-8. Just like the 50's and 60's Sox
  7. Given the nature of the season and its outcome for Boston, I certainly agree that Dalbec and others like Arauz, Munoz should be given experience so they will know what to work on and expect from MLB pitching. The results do have meaning for developmental purposes , but should not affect the young guys status going into next Spring or to be throw-ins in an insignificant trade (PTBNL types). Chavis will be given the benefit of the doubt unless part of a trade, but Michael has seen enough action that he needs to begin showing more consistency or he will be passed by after 2021. Devers need to think about that same thing, although doubtless he is staying around. I also think the 2021 season may have a 50-50 chance of not being a normal year either for players or fans as Covid -19 will still be a factor.
  8. Very little comment in the story or the comments on the very simple fact that the red Sox FO/Ownership concluded what should be more obvious to experienced people. Mookie did not want to be in Boston ( you guess why), and was never going to resign with the Sox as an FA after 2020. You can take all the accounting breakdown in the article and jam it. The RS got some value from a guy who was long gone after the worthless 2020 season.
  9. Then Godley gets all mad and s*** when Roenicke tells him that's it. I would cut the asswipe right in the clubhouse to make a point that he is a loser
  10. Can f***ing Godley get anyone out? DFA should be his middle name
  11. At least Gyro Munoz seems to be coming alive. A welcome move.
  12. Why stink up a whole new thread? I'm just watching while getting ready to go out
  13. Digging that early hole once again. Every game feels like Groundhog Day. GD Godley , where do they come from Chaim ??
  14. Robert Stock shows how to shut down Rowdy Tellez. Total command of the baseball
  15. That's the year it is, where a dropped flyball and a roller into the SS/3B hole sink yet another game for the worst performing team in the AL. Every time you think it can't get much worse , it does.
  16. Walden doesn't have enough to overcome the sunglazed dropped flyball
  17. Amen to that. At least, the Sox wouldn't lose by as much. Giving up lots of late runs
  18. That would require a team wanting Beni at $5 million. If the Sox picked up $4.9M , it might not be enough
  19. And I forgot RR had Yairo Munoz as a strike out candidate on the bench. He saw a real pitcher could take 3-0 and make 3 strikes out of it
  20. I agree with you actually. BD is seeing what MLB pitching is all about and what he needs to work on in AAA next year. I don't think he'll be able to make a big move just over a winter unless he goes and plays somewhere that features near MLB pitching. More likely a late season call up in 2021
  21. I'd like to see Dalbec end this with a bomb over the wall
  22. Barnes actually looking much more in command, job well done. Why does Travis Shaw start reminding me of Sam Travis, Swihart, Chavis and now Dalbec. Another AAAA'er just scraping by in the MLB
  23. True story. I once went to a Sox-Rangers game at the old Arlington Ballpark where Ted W. managed at one time. That game went 22 innings before the Sox won.
  24. I play better in a short season. Next up on tonight's comedy card may be Matthew Barnes
  25. Roenicke looks down the bench and sees that he has Arauz and Lin as PH'ers. Turns to Michael Chavis and says, "Go get'em, Tiger!"
