  1. Especially in light of the doubleheader with a short game, get the most out of Houck and then go BP. Cora's team had the lead with 9 outs to go, and he like many of us would have looked to Whitlock to shut theY's down. A quick hook was likely to win the game at hand , not to be set up for the nightgame. Total Backfire.
  2. The instant 3 up/down puts more pressure on Cora to make the right call but we are down to 3 outs with no life signs present.
  3. Checking to see if his wallet bounced out
  4. Robles is probably one of the dumbest in a box of rocks but he shut down the .167 hitter. Congrats. And there are still 6 more outs to get, how many walks is that, oh and then, there is another game to play today . Better be a complete game win
  5. I haven't seen Cora pitch yet, but I did seee him bring in his best non-closer reliever who f***ed up followed by his best LH'er who f***ed up , followed by one of his two worst who actually got one out
  6. Definitely with you . Establishing the first pitch strike is so fundamental for a reliever
  7. Except for Whitlock's exceptionally bad command of the strike zone. You know at least one of those walks will score
  8. But did he touch all bases and the plate ?
  9. The so called sinker is actually a 2 seamed fastball , gripped with the fingers running with the seam direction. It" slides' horizontally. A change up sinks because it is released at the point of a fastball but the full palm/finger grip imparts less speed and a slight reverse spin causing it to drop, different action than the 2 seam FB
  10. It is quite obvious that Montgomery's direction is to throw stuff out of the zone and make them chase. The Sox hitters need to make him throw called strike one until he starts coming into range
  11. Game 2 because this one isn't interesting to them
  12. Montgomery threw exactly one strike out of 7 pitches. Kike did change his approach after chasing the first two.
  13. Here it comes, Tanner. Do you feel lucky ? Obviously not. Velasquez was hitting .176 until he met Tanner Houck
  14. Looks to me that his big wide delivery is very inconsistent on release point leading to the ball going all over the place. A form of overthrowing and losing control
  15. If that new guy Schwarber can only DH , which pushes ace defender JDM into the OF, you can only speculate the relative overall gain.
  16. How many soft pops/flies can Vazquez launch in one season. He looks very beefy, probably hampers his base running
  17. Surprised Schwarber didn't repull the hamstring on that strikeout
  18. JDM , back to chasing the low breaking ball. No reason for 2 in a row.
  19. It looked like an opportunity with no one covering third base, and took an excellent throw from Voit and a lucky slap tag to catch Renfroe. Outcome was not good but it wasn't VAZ like
  20. Devers looking like Ozzie Smith at SS in the shift
  21. Change of speeds. A pitcher's best friend, that and a DP
  22. Did not happen. Rays walloped the O's as we did, and the Yankees made the 2-1 first inning score stand up through 9 innings. The Angels are useless.
  23. Angels go up 1-0 in the top first, and immediately give it back on a 2 run HR by Gallo. Rays get the Orioles tonight, hahahahahaha, dropping a 1/2 game right now
  24. Agreed on burning Cole, and if the Angels get a win in NY then I'm buying ice cream sundaes for TalkSox
