  1. Speaking of rest, Bogey's bat looks like it weighs about 46 oz. at this point.
  2. Got to rest, SS. Can't play every day in the Park that Ripken built
  3. Amazing how sometimes, it actually looks like a smart baseball team
  4. A smart and well done bunt by Duran. Now he must steal 2nd. Or old style H & R
  5. Much to the players and fans regret. Lucchino was a loser and a prick, both
  6. Huge 2 out pitching scenario here. Nice f'ing work JS and KP There is no one on base, so the worst that can happen is a solo, there's that
  7. Two on, no outs, 2 strikes, show me something Schreiber
  8. Devers totally missed a medium fastball cookie and he knows it. But why doesn't he do something about it ?
  9. The Plawecki-Arroyo-Dugo show carries the team.
  10. You should write a book, "JD and the Old Man" , a collection of witticisms, aphorisms and catechisms displaying Julio David Martinez's philosophy of life No wonder he's not hitting, he's getting older and the birthday tomorrow just confirms that fact
  11. For the arguments that "Red Sox Nation" as a whole has possibly different opinions than a majority of this generally well informed and rational thread, just try reading some of the most idiotic comments on the Sox as a whole, Cora, Bloom and the players on the numerous Red Sox posts on Facebook . The overall universe of most marginal sports followers are supremely reactive and ignorant of any logical processes in business or baseball talent. It is depressing to think that these folks have even the first clue about what they see. Our current group on TalkSox , with a variety of opinions, is far more informative and useful in considering the management and performance of this team.. All of you, keep it up and express whatever you think. It all adds to the fabric of being a Red Sox fan.
  12. You can't say we don't try to boost his morale. In seriousness, I do think today is a critical game and Cora should go with the guys who are hot. Regrettably JD is not, neither is Rafael and X has to be sore from so many fouls off his leg and HBP action. I wouldn't sit Devers but I would have a heart to heart that he can't carry this team by himself and is only making it worse by chasing all out of the zone.
  13. Danny Santana released today. This purge of AAA talent cannot continue if we are going to build back Boston. Danny boy, you will be missed. Maybe JBJr has a spare room to hang out so Fenway at playoff time will be easily accessible.
  14. There is no excuse for starting JDM today . Let him be available off the bench. They cannot get value for Julio now, and he is damaged goods, physically/mentally or both. He actually hurts his own value by batting, rather than claiming a fixable injury
  15. IMO , tonight's game is the one where the Red Sox either win and live to play tomorrow for the series, or if a loss ( forget ugly or otherwise) they are the fully baked, no chance team with a 3 game under .500 result that they have felt like most of the season. It is beyond time to fish or cut bait . The clown show put on by pitchers who had previously been showing a modicum of skill was pathetic emphasizing the utter waste of 10 runs by an offense, not including JDM's sit-out, Bogey's toss out, and Devers oh-for-5. Of course you could be a Yankees fan and watch your butt eating sofa cushions with each new loss. And the Killer Royals took down the TBRays. That's twice this week the Sox failed to gain on those in front of them, three times counting the loss to the O's last night
  16. 75 year old Bill Lee collapsed yesterday while warming up in the bullpen for the Savannah Bananas exhibition game. I guess this precludes his return to the Red Sox as a Loogie, since he has to face 3 batters unless the inning ends Spaceman was helped off the field where he recovered over a couple cold brews and a smoke.
  17. If you do not fall behind at any point in the game, you usually win. Try it, Red Sox, you may like it. With 43 to go and 31 of those vs the AL East, this starter series in Baltimore is truly critical. Have to be 2-1 or 3-0. Losing ground won't help the cause.
  18. Someone else gets the to be the thread starter tomorrow. I went 3-1 but the slider just didn't bite tonight
  19. Davis is just sort of special . Glad Cora runs him in there , indicating a 'give up " game
  20. But they don't have $63 million of unproductive payroll , so you could say the Sox are only spending $145 million to be losing 6-0 to a $66 million team.
  21. 7K's out of 15 outs, but we do have Dugo's single , so there's that. Give Brubaker credit. He is showing up on a night when the Sox may not .
  22. Have to appreciate bringing household items into a study of the psychology of this team
  23. Brubaker is 2-10 , not highly meaningful except that the Pirates lose a lot. But the Slobovian manages to Cy Young the Sox and find time to pop Bogaerts in the arm.
  24. Pham phuqued up. Sox down 4-0.
  25. Cubs already beat the O's today, so you could say that this game in Pittsburg is of some meaning. Hard to tell after two turns at bat.
