  1. Martinez is inexplicable at this point.
  2. The Sox do have a stronger bench/PH group today with Hosmer, Refsnyder, and Kike available. Oh , and Plawecki too
  3. Off to another sharp start, falling immediately behind after a poor 3 up/3 down top of first.
  4. The results, ultimately a championship, are the only reason for a professional team to exist. Professional players can have a different outlook because they are first interested in making big money, then with earning non-cash accolades.
  5. Note that this was Eovaldi's start but his trapezius tightened up, so Winckowski gets to go. It seems Kike's condition was not just a hip flexor but a much more serious condition, including internal bleeding, that did affect him from ST into June. Certainly would be a gain if he can come around now. Nate may just be getting "old' and stiff, but we still need him for his share of the next 44 games.
  6. Bring your brooms for the sweep up of the Pirates. Josh Winckowski trying to get his own record above .500 (5-5) vs J. Brubaker bravely sporting a 2-10 record with 4.45 ERA, slightly better than Winky's 4.69. With Boston's win yesterday the entire AL East is back to .500++ once again. There is no division where almost half your schedule ( 76 games) is played against this level of competition. When you add in out of division games , over 50% of your games will be vs winning record teams. Red Sox, don't take today's game for granted while looking forward to the Orioles this weekend. Win today and travel to Baltimore for a showdown.
  7. It finally is no longer "early" . Those 9 games should be a make or break situation. 6-3 won't win it but will close it up enough to make a serious run.
  8. 8-7 in the last 15 (since 8/1) Feels like a lot more but baby steps and 1 game at a time. Orioles finally lose a game to the Jays, so it is tightening up , with Rays-Yankees tied in the 9th. May they both burn up their bullpens
  9. On the Yankee websites. Arroyo is welcome here , hitting like crazy
  10. Familia finished it, sort of, but i was having dreams of Robles while watching him.
  11. Kike can go 1 for 5 and maintain his position just above Mendoza's line
  12. Killer Plawecki ! Sign him up for 3 years at $6MM/per . On the other hand, DON't
  13. Proving it with 8 LOBs so far and it is only the 9th inning
  14. And Sawamura gets 2 clean innings on 19 pitches ? Oh to be in the NL Central, or even the AL Central.
  15. I just can't warm up to Kike in 2022. Poor start, maybe physically compromised all season, missed 3 months . I guess Duran will make one appreciate him in CF.
  16. After the two prior outside ones, i was afraid he would call that
  17. Got to appreciate Refsnyder's plate discipline after watch some of the chasers.
  18. Maybe that will be the trigger that makes them admit JDM's back is truly limiting. Not good in a contract year but it will let him spin the "i'm healed" over the winter
  19. Amazing and nice recovery after the first 2 guys whacked him. Finally the Sox have a pitcher who confounds and frustrates MLB (?) hitters with ultimate junk. Usually they work against us.
  20. Hosmer, 6 for 32 , .188/.559 and 3 rbi's with the Sox. His contract situation is potentially very valuable to the Sox, but wondering if the bat is going to show up to the .250/.730 level ?
  21. Verdugo, once again smoking a double, and X running hard
  22. For any lack of offense the Sox have experienced in segments of the season, I'm not sure I've seen a scoring slump like the Yankees are drowning in. Too bad for them.. The regular Yankee trolls are very quiet but that's a good thing too.
  23. Devers still leads in RBI's at 62, finally passing Trevor Story who doesn't play too much at 58. But DUGO is pressing both these guys at 55 rbis
  24. Kike gets a bleeder that works, scoring a run. Sox takes lead , a good thing
  25. Arroyo, now that he is playing regularly may be challenging him. Hosmer needs to see if he can get a hit once in awhile
