  1. What is obvious to me is that McGuire is a better hitter than Wong, but probably inferior on defense. The O's base stealing seemed to be on the pitchers I think. At least Wong has stopped that to a large degree, or the pitchers introducing variability in pitch delivery timing
  2. If the Sox sub.200 hitters ( all 5) simply never swung at McC, then half of them would walk tonight
  3. Dalbec actually beats a semi-shift ( SS in the hole) with a rocket. Good work
  4. We are sort of forced into seeing too much of Wong AB's because Cora obviously believes the C position is a R-L platoon. I think we have 6 more LH's scheduled vs Red Sox over the next 7 days. Getting to know you , Connor, but do appreciate cutting down the runners
  5. 5 guys in this weak lineup below .200, one of them below .100, a combined 2.500 ( 5 batters) if you prefer OPS. Bloom has more work to do , and it's ok if it is early. It is mathematically possible to leave TB 8 games out after not quite 2 weeks of baseball. It is also possible to win tonight and the next 2 to turn the AL East around. Possible, but unlikely
  6. Whitlock vs LH McClanahan . All you right hand batters get loose and ready to swing. McC is already 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA, like most Rays pitchers. Whitlock will get his season debut after a full rehab from hip surgery.
  7. Allegedly, Sox will face 7 left handed starters in their next 8 games. Rays, Angels , and Twins.
  8. I was sooooo drunk
  9. 10 games into the season, and only 5 games out behind Tampa.
  10. F'ing Turner takes it down the middle. Tired of these guys guessing pitching. See ball, Hit ball
  11. We beat him a few times last year . Trying to be encouraging in the face of a 1-0 loss, when Mighty Raffy K'ed looking with the sacks full.
  12. Shades of Bucky F. dent. Foul it off your foot , lay down like a wounded dog, and then put it out.
  13. If Fairbanks comes in for the 9th, we will beat him.
  14. How does Devers take that pitch ??
  15. Dalbec red hot red socker
  16. King of the Pops, still popping up but deeper this time
  17. Another person who needs to step it up is friend Bloom. It was a marginal roster to start with , players located out of their best positions. Now his only performing addition of the off season is gone, maybe because he was unluckily in CF ? Chaim needs to fix this and it's not Dalbec by himself.
  18. Read Ian Browne's interview with Brian Abraham, Sox Director of Player Development on MLB.com. Makes you wonder a bit about the Sox young guys. I guess Abraham did not want them to get complacent.
  19. With Turner's flyball out, this lineup now features 5 hitters at the Mendoza line or way below. The range is Turner at .200 down to Kike at .100. Oh but you say, check the OPS's , a better gauge. Ok, Casas does lead them at .690 (not terrible), getting down to the bottom of the curve with a .420 by Wong. I know, I know, it's early and nothing a couple HR's couldn't cure. Casas and Kike do have 2 each , none of the Turner-Wong-Arroyo crowd have any in 84 AB's
  20. P:ivetta giving the batters a chance to make something happen in the form of a lead
  21. Among others who need to step up their game in the absence of Duvall, Turner comes to mind. Kike is a no doubter who needs to come around. Casas and now Dalbec need to contribute. Wong catching more than McGuire or is that an illusion created by not watching every game ? Arroyo, what do you expect from a bench player ? Taking 2 of 3 from Rays would be a great boost and these dudes need to get in gear against some tough pitching
  22. MVP, Brasier is no option, by definition
  23. OK, I'll just say it. f*** Kike Hernandez at SS. Not even his fault, it is actually on Bloom and whoever is pulling his strings
  24. Bra-Man showing the way with a 14-2 lead , issuing the obligatory 2 out walk and HBP, followed by a hit
  25. You guys tear up Kaleb Ort like he's an IRS notification of audit . He puts in a nice inning despite a mishap in the field behind him which stretched the inning and pitch count. Now, DO NOT send him back out for the 9th
