  1. The new Dr. Seuss book----Walter Gets an Out
  2. Sort of fun to watch the Sox on organizational tryout day. Ship them up from Woo, play new positions, act sound asleep . Just move on to Chicago. Giving back to sub .500 teams .
  3. Casas's reaction time to a hit ball could be measured with an egg timer. Duvall throwing from RF reminds me of Renfroe
  4. As previously stated, the active 26 man roster is a short term mess through this weekend and further . Tayler Scott may not be the answer unless depth refers to how low can you go, Chaim ?
  5. I was looking for someone with a vague physical resemblance to Garza . The ability to spin a baseball was unique to Pedro.
  6. So it is clear that Justin Garza, 29, somewhat short and skinny like Pedro M., cannot pitch anything like Martinez. He has , however, committed the Red Sox Way on pitching to memory. Fall behind early and hope the hitters bail you out.
  7. With Dugo's unfortunate bereavement , McGuire's 10 day IL, and and Yu Chang's virtual permanent bad wrist, the Red Sox bench is very slim and the MLB virgins showing up are not exactly the highest rated in the land. Garza is is not inspiring , so a win today would be stealing this series which is why our 3Bman needs to show up.
  8. Let Devers carry the team on his wallet, er broad back, with 4 for 5, 7 rbi's and 2 HR's. A slump for many is maybe a week or 10 days . Devers last 30 games shows a slash line of .205/.293/.410 (.703 OPS thanks to 6 HR's in his last 117 AB's) . The reality is that the rest of the team has been carrying him for the 6 game win streak. At least he has started walking a bit , helping his OBP.
  9. Nice outline of the team , Bloom's doings or not, that could be 90% of the lineup in 2024-25-26, most under full control for extended periods. By current standards it could also be considered cost effective for a few years, especially after Sale's clock runs out. A couple FA's could supplement the mound corps and the batting lineup for a little mature influence. On March 29, If anyone had told you that the Red Sox would be last in the AL East, without Sale, Story, Duvall for 8 weeks, Paxton just reaching prime, Kluber a failure , Dever's BA in the .240s, Kike at SS almost full time with 14 errors, Schreiber on IL, Houck needing facial surgery , etc. etc., What would have been your Realistic View of 2023 ?? Bet it would not have been 39-35 ! This team does in fact have the potential to be a WC entry.
  10. I think Bloom gets to count them because 1. he didn't trade them away for a journeyman utility player, and 2. they have continued to develop under Chaim's close and personal attention to detail.
  11. Be great to see this lineup mash the Twins once again. That would be a sweep of the first three games but not yet the series. Two more wins would equal the red Sox best string of 8 consecutives this year. But let's not get ahead of the need to win the one your playing, an inning at a time. The totals then take care of themselves. Sonny Gray is having a decent year on a sub .500 Division leader . I'm not expecting runs until about the 5th inning, unless Devers chooses to participate early on. Gray has a 2.37 ERA, 4-1, W-L and a 1.28 WHIP with more K's than innings pitched ( 79/76).
  12. Myers is a good comparison for saying Dalbec has virtually no value , certainly not by himself. In fact, at next to no value, why would Bloom give him away, except if needed to clear a roster spot for some other multi-player trade deal.
  13. While Dalbec himself will not bring a significant player in a heads up trade, he could be the icing on the cake for a starter from a team needing DH or 1B help to finish the season. He is cheap and showing the ability to go on a tear albeit at AAA level. At his age, his only other possibility is a DFA or a non roster ST invite next year....OR what if the Sox unfortunately suffer an injury to Casas or Turner or heaven help us Devers requiring a shuffling of Turner to 3B .
  14. The truth is, Corey should just walk off the mound, wave goodbye and get on with a nice life. The 10 may not be enough
  15. Corey Kluber, Buxton's personal slump buster. It is actually sad that a guy who once had it all together is now a shell of his former self It has to be very embarassing to him and the team. But the checks still hit twice a month
  16. Kike hits into DP just to move the game along, against an eephus pitch
  17. Panda ate a lot of comida
  18. Hah, Kluber throws an 11 pitch/3 out inning after walking the first batter. I guess the wily veteran was just setting up the DP.
  19. Reyes gets Wally Pipped, but that leaves Kike at SS. Can't Arroyo play short ?
  20. Hey Raffy got (a) hit or did he ?
  21. The oppo field bat control by Yoshi, Arroyo and Wong is amazing. Where did these guys come from?
  22. When Yoshi is slashing the ball to the left side , he is a much better hitter than the rollover tops to the right side.
  23. Screw OBER, that was some pretty sloppy throws into Turner. But the bouncing ball 3B man doesn't make him pay.
  24. I meant the royal "We" , TalkSoxers in general. You are too precise to slice and dice a nice guy like Christian A., who does have some ability.
  25. Maybe we disrespect him too much.
