  1. Sox hitters response the NYY 3 spot in the 6th is inspiring, or not
  2. Here comes the mistake, letting LLovera pitch to Judge, just a guess Delete this post... Llovera is the man !!! Judge swung at a bad pitch showing no more plate discipline than JDM
  3. Ok, I'll go on the limb and say that since Llovera came out for the 7th, he should get pulled at first baserunner. Hope he goes through them 1-2-3, but no way that will happen
  4. 5 runs may give you a shot, then again sometimes 12 are not enough. It's a variable equation. They need 5 today for sure
  5. F'ing 9 pitch strike out on a ball well outside and low by Rafaella, leaving the LOBsters a highly refined Boston trait
  6. I think the real question will come if Llovera comes back out. Should be Whitlock shooting for 7th & 8th
  7. Should have walked Judge
  8. 6th inning, 3rd time through lineup, what am I smelling out there ? This inning ends down 5-2. How do they lose it so quick when Nick was almost unhittable ?
  9. Forcing Boone into his BP. Great stuff, we have seen too much of this year on our side. Keep it going Pivetta ! A 2 run lead can disappear quick.
  10. Used to be a great excuse for an afternoon meeting out of the office
  11. Masatake pulls a pitch up and away into another chopped ground out to right side , but he did move Casas to 3rd , who then scored on a WP.
  12. Should the Sox keep McGuire for the next 2 years until (maybe) Teel is ready to compete with Wong. Or see if someone else needs him this winter and get a pickup catcher to bridge ? Is Teel the Sox Rutschman ? When reese was hitting in the early season , he looked like a strong asset even if the catching wasn't great. Wong carried the load for almost 2 months. McGuire still is OPS'ing at .716 over his last 30, so not bad for a journeyman catcher. We have seen some poor hitters there in the past decade.
  13. The dfefensive positioning is beyond amazing, especially on balls hit up the middle, not quite a shift but real close. Valdez hits right into it.
  14. Watching Pivetta in several of his starts , he can be dominant for a few innings and then seems to drop off by giving up a HR and then imploding. Would like to see him go 7 today with a shutout. Looking good in the first 2. You would think he could be a #4-#5 in a good rotation if he can be consistent and efficient, only 28 pitches through 2.
  15. Interesting to see Fenway about 2/3rds empty for RS-NYY game in September . Odd circumstances with the day-night doubleheader , and both teams playing +- .500
  16. If LeMahieu is a legitimate 6'-4", the umpire must be 6'-10". How does he call the low pitch. No worries, Sox pitchers prefer to go high in the zone
  17. The goal with Yoshida was to get a good OBP guy to be on base when Devers/Duvall ( or his repl) were hitting. Is that worth the price of a $100MM total cost? Not in 2023 because it achieved nothing in terms of real team success. Yoshi started off at leadoff and since has descended into the lineup mid range . Certainly have to give him his shot in 2024 and await improved results
  18. Trout may have a full year in him at some point but he has played in 36-119-82 games ( so far) over the past 3 seasons. At age 32 his productivity will decline not increase over a reasonable sample size. Now granted, Mike hasn't had the benefit of Cora "rest" days, so there is that possibility. He is under contract through 2030 at $35.5 million/year. If the Angels really wanted to move him, they would have to eat at least 50% of that deal. Still a big price for a DH in waiting. Ohtani wil present some team with a similar dilemma. Arte Moreno , the clueless Angel owner, could have sold this team for about $3Billion a year ago, with Trout and Ohtani under contract. Now he pretty much has a losing team ( 8 years running) and no shot at Ohtani, with Trout wanting to go to a winning team. Trout is an East Coast guy, so the Phillies, Mets, Nationals could be players. Yankees don't want him unless they could get the fool Angels to swap contracts for Stanton.
  19. Really need to get serious and take NYY 3of 4
  20. Winck and Whitlock both had a combined good 3 innings without any trouble. Too bad the Yankees won their 10 inning no-hit game, although in the 13th
  21. You want to think Story will revert to his mean , but Urias and Reyes are only answers to the question---Who is your bench infielder in 2024?
  22. More rain, could be a long night to finish up a Sox win. Brew crew up 3-1 in bottom 12 in NY. Wear out the Yankees. Of course Stanton hits a 2 run HR to tie it up. Good , keep pitching and burn the NY BP
  23. Yankees tie it in 11th with their first hit
  24. Casas delivers big time with a 3 run jack
  25. Neither team could score in the 10th, Yankees still being no-hit
