    Bello vs Civalle , a good matchup of pitchers. Boston gets to go visit the team that its ownership and front office wishes it played more like. Not this year. Sox are winning at a .667 clip in September, much better than August's dive. Just stay ahead of NYY and keep winning series. Maybe a 18-10 month for the Sox.

    Jansen pitching in the 7-1 ninth inning gives up hits/runs, exceeds 20 pitches and renders himself useless for the Rays tomorrow. Sale going only 5 on 100 pitches led to another run on the BP. But a win is a win, and took the series too.

    You encourage me to look fairly at actual performances by talented but underperforming players. The Red Sox needed many things post A-S break , mostly starting effective pitching, but also a big game changing bat. As the current holder of a "futures mega-contract" starting next year, Devers has been a serious disappointment in the second half

    The Red Sox get to the 70 win threshhold behind their determined lineup and starting pitcher, complemented by stellar relief . At least it was runs early and 5 full innings from Houck. Today's streak extending win will be featured by Chris F'ing Sale's dynamic sliders and the hitting of ????? . Sox hitters should jump on Taylor Clarke , a journeyman 30 year old RH'er with a 5.44 ERA and 1.61 Whip. Let's start the climb to 80+ wins .

    Houck exceeds his peers by getting 15 outs on 96 pitches, but leaves the 6th with no outs, bases loaded and an 8 run lead. Good luck Winck. But Winck immediately gives up a hit on his 1st pitch, as have several Sox relievers when called on. Immediately gives up a 2nd hit and run Then walks in a run , after a pop out. So 9-4 with bases loaded and 1 out.

    It would be bad juju to break the string of consecutive game threads, so although it is the 6th inning of a WINNING Sox effort so far , here's the thread. Now we can't be blamed for costing the Sox a shot at the WC.
