Pham Dugo Bogey Devers JD Story Kike Dalbec Plawecki JD stays at DH, while SOX best hitter right now sits on bench. Oh, well. Two things of interest here: 1)does Devers get out of his long slump? and 2) can Wacha get his 10th win? Hoping both can happen. Go SOX!

True. And Dugo hasn't exactly been a 'bust' for the SOX. BA of .290 since he's been here.

Maybe not getting as much for Betts from the Dodgers was the SOX way of thanking them for taking Crawful and A-gone. And also Josh Beckett.

Easy to understand why JH is getting gun-shy of large long-term contracts. Between Price and Sale; what a dumpster fire.

That's what it is until EO returns. Btw, MOON, regarding JBJ; right now he's getting an adjusted league minimum from Toronto. If he re-signs with the Jays next season, will he again receive the league minimum from the Jays(700,000) and the SOX pay the 12 mil?

Correct. JBJ is playing for Toronto, but his 17.5 mil is still considered retained for this year. The same goes for Price's 16 mil. The Dodgers' active adj. payroll is 206 mil. The Yankems' active adj. payroll is 183 mil.

Right now the SOX active adj. payroll totals 117 mil.

No. I checked on some other team's retained salaries: Dodgers--3 mil Mets------24 mil Yankems--11 mil Phils------29 mil Padres----28 mil White Sox--19 mil

For 2022 the SOX have a total retained salary of over 42 mil. Most of it is between JBJ and Price.

Good point. That will be your mission, MOON, if you choose to accept. That would be too much work for me.

The 2022 SOX are 6th in team payroll at 208 mil. However, if one removes Sale's adj. salary of 20 mil and Price's retained salary of 16 mil, that drops the SOX to 11th at 172 mil.

There's still bad teams in the NHL, but not as many as in the 3 other sports.

I do agree with the 'solid floor' concept. Solid ceiling and solid floor; wouldn't live in a house that didn't have both.

I've got no problem how much a player is paid. If the market says he's worth 30mil/yr that's fine by me. What I am against is long-term contracts. This ******** about security puts all the risk on ownership and none on the players. I believe 5 years should be the max years on a contract. Of course, that's never gonna happen. This is just my take.

Unfortunately, a team isn't just dealing with the player(s); a team also has to deal with agents, the Boreasses of the world. I do agree that if a FO negotiates with a player very early in his career, the FO has a better chance of making a favorable long term deal, but at the same time the risk factor also increases.
