  1. I think Boone will be a very good manager, just not now. He needed a year or two as a bench coach and then give him the big job, exactly like Cora
  2. With Tulo in the IL that makes 11 players from the 40 man roster
  3. I wouldn't worry about his velocity just yet, if he keeps this velocity in May then it's a different story
  4. Tanaka looking good
  5. the only good thing about all this is the timing, it could be worse if it happens towards the end of the season
  6. This is a freaking disaster, Stanton looks like it's not serious, no word on what is the problem with Andujar
  7. With him talent is not the problem, his ability to stay healthy is the issue. Time will tell if he will replace Ellsbury as the new "american idle"
  8. SAD but I feel the same way
  9. I'm one of those, I usually read most of the posts (rarely post anything no related to the Yankees), you deserve to enjoy your championship and every post against your team is interpreted by some folks as an intent to diminish the accomplishments of the previous season. Today is a new season and I'm ready to rrrrrumble!
  10. Age when he becomes FA Sale will be a FA at 30, deGrom at 32.
  11. Here are some details about the contract (MLBtraderumors.com) "Earlier this year, deGrom agreed to a $17MM arbitration contract for the 2019 season. That effectively remains in place, though it is now restructured as a $10MM signing bonus and $7MM salary, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports on Twitter. What would have been deGrom’s final arbitration season, 2020, will be locked in at $23MM. He’ll then earn $33.5MM in each of the next two seasons and $30.5MM in 2023 — if he does not first opt out. The option-year value is $32.5MM, ESPN.com’s Jeff Passan tweets."
  12. I bet age is a big factor on the final number, I believe he's already 30
  13. I'm happy for him, he deserves this payday. Not so happy for my yankees because they will have to face him for a few years, but good signing for you guys.
  14. This is becoming a nightmare
  15. it's just some insurance in case Sevy can't come back soon and/or Cessa/German are not effective
  16. I'm sure Mookie is very happy about this deal If he keeps performing he will get a lot $$$$$, somewhere between Harper and Trout, how many years???
  17. Neither am I, I'm not talking about his ST numbers which can be misleading based on the competition, I'm just saying that his stuff is playing out good so far and he will have a month to show some results as SP, if not he might be sent to the BP for good
  18. Severino to be miss at least April, terrible news The only good thing is that Cessa is looking great (I know is only ST), but the guy has great stuff, mid 90's FB, a good slider and decent curveball, I always thought he was a minor adjustment away of becoming a regular ML pitcher, I hope he finally turns the corner and helps the Yankees this year, it's a "make or break" opportunity for him.
  19. I tend to agree with you, he was rushed to the majors, he deserves a real shot to make the roster; but he can't be a prospect forever, eventually somebody will need to take the hard decision if he doesn't perform.
  20. Here is a very nice article I read this morning regarding TJS recovery time for infielders (no 1B), still several things to consider, for example Furcal was at the end of his career, Velarde, Molitor and Johnson returned the first day of the season, so their comeback could be longer than needed, etc Here is the list, but I recommend to read the article to understand the dates. SURGERY DATE RETURN DATE DAYS TO RETURN Rafael Furcal March 13th, 2013 June 13th, 2014 409 Randy Velarde April 8th, 1997 May 13th, 1998 400 Paul Molitor May 21st, 1984 April 9th, 1985 323 Kelly Johnson June 1st, 2006 April 2nd, 2007 305 Cesar Izturis Sept. 16th, 2005 June 20th, 2006 277 Mike Aviles July 7th, 2009 April 8th, 2010 275 Ray Olmedo Nov. 9th, 2004 June 28th, 2005 231 Tony Womack Oct. 6th, 2003 April 5th, 2004 182 T.J. Rivera Sept. 14th, 2017 Pending Corey Seager May 4th, 2018 Pending http://riveraveblues.com/2019/02/partial-contract-season-sir-didi-2019-season-preview-184234/
  21. RIP Zac, buddy from the old BDC
  22. this is so sad.... but so true
  23. More details on the extension Severino’s fifth-year option is worth $15MM and comes with a $2.75MM buyout, tweets ESPN’s Jeff Passan. He’ll earn a $2MM signing bonus, a $4MM salary in 2019, $10MM in 2020, $10.25MM in 2021 and $11MM in 2022. In all, Severino can earn up to $52.25MM if the option is exercised.
  24. they usually accept those "team friendly" deals because they have a higher risk of a catastrophic injury Matt Moore with the Rays is a good example he signed a team friendly extension and he got injured, it looked like a still for the team at the beginning
  25. let's get the same structure, assure the cost on his arbitration years plus 1 or 2 club options, then you have him for most of his prime at a controlled cost Player gets insurance and team adds payroll control and can plan on free agents
