I don't think the Braves trade those two prospects for Betts, besides the Braves were after some established SP, they were on the mix for Greinke, Stroman and MadBum
I never seen anybody (not even Jacko) enjoying Sale's misfortune or possible injury, in fact, I'm on record saying that if a there's a pitcher currently in the league who can survive with a few less MPH, that pitcher is Sale, the guy has at least 4 different pitches above average. At the same time it would be foolish, not to allow him some time to adjust a new pitching style
It's already in the rumors, check this out

That's for sure, if you pick the best nine they will fit in, but as you said they'll have to move them out of position, then it comes to the equation people like Gurriel, JD or Jordan Alvarez (OPS+ 193 with a small sample size)
I agree with you on Betts, but I don't see the Astros picking Devers (bWAR 4.0, OPS+ 133) over Bregman (bWAR 5.3, OPS+ 147) or Bogaerts (bWAR 3.8, OPS+ 141) over Correa (bWAR 2.8, OPS+ 143),
I know it will never happen, but I'm trying to assess, from the Sox fan perspective, how much they think he will be worth? in case they start an early rebuild
In the hypothetical case that the Red Sox deal Mookie to the Yanks, what would be your demand for him?
BTW, keep in mind that Gleyber is off limits and a few others from the first team, everybody in the farm is up for grabs. I know it will never happen but just for fun
I know it's still early for this but I was thinking about his future and since his arbitration years are over, he's set to become a FA
What type of contract he can get as a FA? Taking into consideration that he will be 30 yrs old at opening day.
He's more valuable to the Yankees than to any other team, I see Didi taking a home team discount to stay in NY but, no idea how Cashman will play this, he has some leverage, he can move Gleyber to SS, play DJ at 2B and the combo of Andujar/Urshella to play 3B.
I was thinking something around 5yrs / 90 Millions
I like what Tauchman has delivered, but he one who really impressed me so far is Urshella, GG defense and an excellent bat so far bWAR 2.1 OPS+ 132, he has more than 300PA, I he continues this level of performance, we might be ready to ship Andujar for some SP next year, this coming from a HUGE fan of Andujar
I know he's top 5 in ERA (in the AL), my point was that he was not worth the package they were looking for.
As you said, I will probably think "what if" next October; for now, I'm ok with the decision of not making the trade
I just did a quick lookup, he's not in the top 10 in any important category,
I'm not trying to diminish Stroman's value, but he's not the stud most people thinks he's. He will be a top of the Yanks rotation for sure, but he's not worth what they were asking for him
that alone doesn't make him a top 5 pitcher, nowadays there are several other stats
from the top of my mind I think of Sale, deGrom, Cole, Verlander, Nola, Snell, Buehler, Bauer, Scherzer; I'm not sure if he's even in the top 10
The asking prices were humongous, Detroit and the Mets asked for Gleyber in return for Boyd and Thor. Not sure what the Jays asked for Stroman but yesterday the Mets were asking for Garcia and Florial + some others; the Dbacks were asking for Frazier + 3 others for R. Ray, none of them was worth the asking price (IMO).
There was no 2016 Sale on this year market, certainly good SP but not worth to ship out your best prospects for them
