  1. If they succeed in this, you might as well put them in the 2019 World Series--with the Dodgers. But how in god's name can they eat up one more top reliever? What hogs. Are half their relief staff injured or what?
  2. Why me, I'm just quoting today's odds. Are you killing the messenger.
  3. Yea I know. But I guess it's this major underdog sympathy combined with a lifelong antipathy for the Yanks
  4. 2020 current Odds for nba championship 3/1 - LA Clippers 10/3 - LA Lakers 13/2 - Milwaukee Bucks 9/1 - Philadelphia 76ers 12/1 - Golden State Warriors Boston is 25 to 1.
  5. Yup. the 2 teams play on Monday.
  6. Thankfully D'Arnaud bailed the Rays out.
  7. Philly should be one or two. Indy will be better. and Toronto won a lot of games without Leonard this year, sos they might surprise.
  8. I think it may well come down to this. I have a sense that Oakland will lead the wild card, and that we and Cleveland will battle for the second spot. Or, we could lead the way and Oak and Guardians battle it out.
  9. 70 pitches for a relief pitcher. C'mon. What gives?
  10. Why is Devers not on the All-Star team??
  11. One time I saw Gardner smile--and he didn't look so bad. The guy's too intense.
  12. Pannone came into this game with a 5.91 ERA, all in relief. And it looks like he's going to give his team 4 shutout innings. Go figure. What I figured was that this would be a 10-9 game. It may still, but not if they have another Pannone around.
  13. And which the team with the 54 million payroll??
  14. Is this the first 4 of July in which several teams are off? Pretty shocking.
  15. Bogey has been very impressive in an off year (so far). But the truly amazing guy has been Devers. What a glorious season--and at 22, and because it's during this down season, it seems even more spectacular. He's not someone who projects discipline or intensity, but somehow he must have both of these traits. What a pleasant surprise. (Now, if we could just produce one, just one, great pitcher... just one)
  16. Yaz was neither thin or short.. not in anyone's eyes. Mookie looks short and fairly slim in everyone's eyes. I don't believe either his height or his weight. I would love to see Ronald Toreyez stand next to him. Ronnie is like 5-7+ and weighs around 145.
  17. Bradley is listed at 5'10. Mookie seems 2" shorter when next to him. Anyway, I think build more than height has more to do with longevity. So, not a factor with Mookie--although I read that he tries to make himself look fatter than he is (maybe his listed weight is false) We'll see how long Chris Sale goes on. Matt Duffy is 6'2 170.
  18. Methinks this announcement is a little advisement to Sox fans that we're not giving up on the playoffs, but forget any thought of a championship. Because we're plugging in rather than buying. (Eovaldi was a great second closer in the World Series run, but now he will be all alone, won't be second, nor a surprise) It's also a concession to the Yanks who we all know will only be stronger after the trade deadline.
  19. Yeah, I'm not up to date on Eovaldi. I had assumed he would be back by the All-Star break, with a brand new elbow in place.
  20. The team has to NOW be configured for the playoffs. That means quite simply a closer and a big time rotation guy to free up Eovaldi for the BP either during the season or in the playoffs. Even this might be too little for postseason success, but at least we make it there. (If Wright comes around, all the better, but this is hardly something anyone can count on)
  21. I'm surprised he's available for this game. Did he pitch at Pawtucket first?
  22. This may be the last baseball game ever played in London town.
  23. Wright will either give up 6 more runs or shut them down as in 1-2-3 remember that??
  24. Do they serve alcohol in this park? If so, the last remaining fans will be stone drunk.
  25. Can we call up relief pitchers from London for tomorrow???
