  1. This is the day........this is the day we will look back on and realized it all turned around.
  2. Id prefer the Yankees either do not get the wildcard or they're tied for the second wildcard spot. Facing Cole in a one-game elimination series would be a tough hill to climb.
  3. The Sox are pitching Sale tomorrow and Erod to follow.
  4. You can offer any player a qualifying offer as long as they were not traded that year. So for example, Anthony Rizzo and Joey Gallo can’t be given qualifying offers, but Eduardo Rodriguez and JD Martinez can.
  5. Any year you reset the luxury tax with the plan of going over the next year, they next year is the most ideal time to overpay on short term contracts. If you’re planning on going over anyways then hypothetically you’re going to be trying to get back under in several years. Leaving the upside of a 1 year deal with anyone with upside like JDM well worth a QO. If JD opts out you take offer the QO and you don’t blink. He turns it down then you get a pick to waste by signing a FA who presumably is going to put you on the hook for big bucks several years down the line. He exercise his option.
  6. The Sox hold a $10 million dollar option on Richards. I think they exercise it, and like you said keep him in this role which I think replaces Whitlock if they still plan on moving him to the rotation.
  7. Why not offer him a QO then? Thats a gross overpay but next year might be the year to do it. the Sox are probably planning on going over the cap next year and you don’t blow it up long term with one year. He can fit that role Whitlock provided this year when the other Garrett moves to the rotation. If or when Barnes/Ottavino struggle or get injured he might end up SAVING a season for us as an elite late reliever. And this may be one of my dumbest posts yet. In my attempt to justify the gross overpay for one year deal I completely forgot Richards contract grants the Sox a club option for $10 million next year. This is why you get under the cap and reset, you can spend big next year and having shorter deals only makes it easier.
  8. Richards to me is just screaming, I could prolong my career and reinvent myself as a reliever. It’s only a 13.1 IP sample size this year but he’s been great I’m shorter stints.
  9. I mean, if you want to ruin the kid and the team why not.
  10. Not to toot my own horn here, well who am I kidding of course I am, my perspective of Schwarber staying in the OF so Bobby can stay at 1b is starting to look really good. Of course, one could say he should just be DHing with his atrocious defense but I don't think you take a guy like JDM out of the lineup just because he's been cold.
  11. If we had to split, I'd rather take the last two games than the first two. Leave on a high note against the best AL team and hopefully start a little tailspin for them. A boost of confidence for us going in against a decent team in Cleveland. It would be the most 2021 thing ever if this Covidsquad team started to right the ship for the Sox.
  12. I also remember he was absolutely obsessed with bashing players he thought were "soft" and for the longest time Jacoby Ellsbury was his primary target. We had to dump Jacoby and trade for Matt Kemp.
  13. Yeah, he’s not a very good defender in CF. This was the big knock on him throughout the minors coming up. Despite his elite speed, he gets no added range in the OF because he gets late reads on balls. I don’t care how great you look running full speed for a catch, if took your first step a second too late that should have been a routine play. To me this makes Duran a better fit for LF, which puts more pressure on his bat.
  14. I remember there was an alternative site when Boston.com went down, a few went there, a few more came here and I think eventually mostly everyone game here. I just went over, they're still posting over there.....all 1 guy.
  15. Well, Sale seemed to be the big mid-season starting addition.....the only thing that is left was bullpen help. Honestly, if the offense didn't go away our bullpen might be a little less taxed and in better shape at this point.
  16. I came over with all you Boston.com good folks many years ago and took a several-year hiatus from posting. I do remember encountering he who shall not be named back then and he reminded me of a guy we had over at the other site called SOFTLAW. I know Moon would remember that guy. Everyone loves to argue, but some people just can't seem to do so without being insulting to other people. If I'm going back and forth with someone in here with an argument, odds are I like that poster value their opinions and enjoy the discourse. I just don't have any patience for people who are blatantly looking for trouble.
  17. A 2023 ETA is really pushing it, that's very Mookie-esq....BUT when you're regarded as the #1 prospect in the draft with Mayers talent level that's the type of trajectory you can dream on. I too....am a dreamer. I use the term dream loosley as I do think it's a real possibility, but it's just that if he develops a little slower and isn't in the big leagues until 2025 that's fine, he still could be a very good player.
  18. Already done, now I can get back to normal healthy productive fun disagreements.
  19. I wouldn't rule out Barnes back in the spot at some point. He was good for so long this season and it really feels that he's just tired and overworked.
  20. Yorke is definitely starting 2022 in Greenville but he'll be on the fast track to AA, if he's absolutely racking he won't be held down more than 1-2 months.
  21. It all comes down to what you want. Do you let a guy develop or trade him? Not everyone is ready to be a productive everyday player right away. Nothing wrong with trading Duran, nothing wrong with him as the 4th OFer. With the way, Cora rotates guys someone could still get 400 PA's like that. And he might be a much better player if he can adjust. And of course, he could be trade bait too.
  22. I mean it's kind of hard to come after a KING after all LOL!!! I had my say, now I'm putting that loser on block.
  23. Oh without a doubt the pitching has caught up the last 2-3 weeks but prior to that the skid had been almost all on the offense.
  24. quick to sling mud, calling moon a douche-bag unsolicited and now I'm a jerk? Oh no..I bet you were the guy who tried stealing kids lunch menu and shoved them in lockers back in highschool. Stop acting like a bully. If Anyone is a D-Bag my money is on the guy who quotes himself and self proclaims himself the king of an internet chat forum. Loser. Don't talk to me.
  25. Absolutely, but for the most part of the Sox skid it had been the paltry offense that has hurt us, and that has been from guys already in the lineup who had been productive most of the year. Honestly, if we could subtract relief pitching momentarily from the equation bloom gets an A for the deadline deals.
