  1. That’s right, Mayer helps a lot too.
  2. Sandwiched in there is a .540 OPS for the month of July. Bobby went on a tear in the middle of June. Then he’s had one good week against bad pitching. I like Bobby, but I don’t think he’s completely turned the corner yet. He’s very streaky, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he slumps horribly for the rest of August. Hope Schwarber still has his 1B mitt ready.
  3. A lot of this has to do with the large amount of prospects the Yankees gave up. However, I think some of this is organic. Lots of depth and younger players starting to get some helium.
  4. Yeah, it’s insanely way too early to write of the Sox recent international acquisitions. Like you said the Sox lost two seasons to penalties then after the #2 ranked prospect died they still turn out two top ten prospects from the 2017-2018 class (Gilberto, and Bello). After they you have 16-19 year olds who have missed a full season. And the 2020/21 class looks pretty good. Way way way too early to come to these conclusions.
  5. They had all their top contracts voided in 2016 and were disallowed from signings in 2017. The next year in the 2017-2018. The big prize was Daniel Flores considered by many the top international prospect, he died at 17. However Gilberto Jiminez is a top ten prospect in the Sox system. Your next years class consists of kids that are currently 19 years old and missed a full season. You got three youngsters in the top 30 with some promise. https://soxprospects.com/players/paulino-eddinson.htm https://soxprospects.com/players/gonzalez-wilkelman.htm https://soxprospects.com/players/bonaci-brainer.htm So I wouldn’t say we used to be good at this. Sox are still very good at this.
  6. Yeah, IFA guys have a longer track because they’re being signed at 16/17 Devers was a phenom while reaching the majors at 20 years old had been in the system for 4 seasons prior. Losing money for cheating messed up our class for 2 years and now Covid has delayed guys. If you look at the long term track record, seemingly every year we end with at least one guy who turns into a stud, or a highly ranked prospect at some point. Moncada was the year after Devers, then came the penalty years. https://soxprospects.com/international.htm
  7. What I find encouraging is how well the starting rotation has been lately, and they picked it back up a whole week before Sale got back. The wine didn’t come because seemingly the entire offense was slumping. That appears to be over, yes it was against the Orioles, but we now guys like Xander, JDM, Renfroe, Verdugo are good hitter and we just added Schwarber. If the offense can score more runs and starters can start going 6+ consistently that’s going to rest your pen, and that may give them enough juice down the stretch. Big series coming up.
  8. But this has been Dalbec all season, you can actually look at his game logs and see the pattern. Goes on a tear for 1-2 weeks then disappears for 3-4. His defense has been subpar too. Last night was slightly different because for the first time all year he looked good vs RHP.
  9. Actually, you do. Sox bullpen is overstretched, and that's A HUGE HUGE factor into this team's struggles lately. Why burn through some arms in a game that you have in bag? you don't.
  10. No, you can't sell when you're in first place, you have to go for it. What I don't agree with though, is emptying out your entire farm, unloading all your cannons, and competing in an inflated market when you have fewer assets than everyone else. In a year in which you're obviously over-acheiving, you don't blow up your future for a chance at a smaller regression. They got a big-name bat who will be here soon (people keep saying we made no big deals), and we have Chris Sale coming back. In a year like this, you have to strike a balance. I'm sure some will never like that, but that's just smart business baseball.
  11. LOL if we are clamoring for Yairo Munoz to come up and save us then we should just throw the towel in on the season now.
  12. When you’re popular you literally have to pay to take ads off your site, their traffic is way up. For prospect loving folks, Sox fans have something in Soxprospects no other organization has. Literally…no one.
  13. Good news. The Boston Red Sox will not lose a baseball game today.
  14. 2 game winning streak let’s go!
  15. In Bloom/Cora we trust!!!!!!!
  16. Up until the deadline the Yankees system was MUCH deeper than the Sox. They had to give up almost 1/3 of their top 20. They simply had more bullets than us. The Sox are obviously looking to reset the luxury tax next year too so Bloom took the route he did. Still time to get guys back into gear and win this thing and if they don’t I would except a big offseason
  17. Lol, if there’s one caveat to my favorite team skidding hard it’s watching the softy fans implode. Edit: I’m about 1-2 weeks out from joining the rest of you.
  18. His career OPS puts him in the Devers/Bogaerts/JDM tier in Boston, this year, he’s 2nd. That’s a significant upgrade a team that is struggling mightily on offense. Spot on for Casas, you seem to have more sense about him than the Bozos on WEEI planting delusions in some that Casas will be up in Boston.
  19. There’s about a zero chance Casas gets a cup of coffee at the end of the year. They’re not going to waste the 40 msn spot for someone who is still developing.
  20. I think they do. I think teams care deeply about developing guys on a proper timeline, and they have a set plan for what they need to see before they're ready for the next level. Do they slightly hold back and accelerate these timelines to fit the team needs in terms of improving performance and controlling payroll? absolutely. But we're talking about going from 9-10 when people in here expect 5-10. (number scale completely invented for obvious reasons)
  21. Dalbec played his 2018 season in AA and put up a .836 OPS, I think Casas will be a better player in the future, but he's not ready and the Sox traded for Schwarber to play 1B.
  22. It's just ridiculous to even talk about Casas coming up right now. Lets see what he's doing next spring.
  23. Because there’s a danger is screwing a guy up if you rush him. E.G. Blake Swihart
  24. I think he spends the year in Portland. He's still very young for the level and skipped high A. And while he didn't exactly struggle this year he's been a little lackluster. His 6 HR's in 192 PA's aren't horrible but not exactly lighting the world on fire for a guy who's a bat first 1B profile. Some of those have come recently, and I feel the Sox are going to want to give a young guy sustained success even if he starts lighting AA on fire this year. I think Casas is in WOO next year.
