  1. I agree, Bogey took an early extension at easy money once, he was never going to do it the second time around. There’s no way him and Boras would have signed an extension unless it was their asking price. If you think the market is going to pay a guy much less than what he’s asking you let him go to free agency. The Sox aren’t wrong for doing that, but they could still be blamed for not resigning him here.
  2. In no particular order, DD’s, Blooms, John Henry, the scouting department, and Lady Luck.
  3. I don’t buy that they’ve severed ties. I’d buy Bogey going to the highest bidder and being ok not returning to Boston….but we knew that the day he opted out.
  4. I think the Sox are comfortable matching any offer as long as it's not insane, they are banking that the Money Boras and Bogey thought would be out there is in fact not out there. If that was materializing to be the case and I was camp Boras, leaking this would make sense.....It feels like a stunt, I officially want to revoke my 8/217 Bogey prediction and downgrade it to 7/190.
  5. I love PG, but he's also kind of old and losing it, especially his online grammar which makes me question if he is even writing his own tweets anymore. That was one of the more coherent ones. I still don't buy it. Even if Bogey ends up signing elsewhere I don't buy it. Unless the Sox are deadset on making a run at Turner, and even then why would you cut ties with the other big SS on the market in case you don't make your man?
  6. the article, tweet whatever. point is, I don't let the media influence my opinions. See what I did there.....ehh ehhh???
  7. I don't think it's a lock Bogey comes back here, heck I'm not even sure it's 50% but I don't buy that article. That's BS, that stinks of Boras, it's got the Scott stench all over it.
  8. If Sale was a healthy pitcher, Duran and Dalbec developed into everyday players (that you hoped they were going to by the end of 2021). You could easily look at the budget and this year's FA class and go, well damn....lets sign a pitcher, Bogey and get this guy Abreu in here to be a DH. We don't have that luxury with so many holes to fill.
  9. You can’t have all 6 of those things but you can have 5. You can do that and extend Devers. Depending on when you reset, you can structure Devers contract to either kick in this year or next.
  10. You can do all that and still extend Devers, either reset this year, or set yourself up to reset next year and have the extension kick in this year to help lower the AAV throughout the life of the contract. Won't be much, but 2 million a year will help.
  11. Brasier is not immune to be DFA’d a few others too if they upgrade. Trades could be made too.
  12. Who says you still can’t get 4?
  13. Paxton doesn’t stop you from getting 2 other pitchers. Actually I think you have too.
  14. Dodgers just signed Shelby Miller, Bloom must of infected the Dodgers somehow.
  15. I don’t mind your scenario and rolling the Dice with Verlander. Still have to resign Devers though, I think they may. Contrary to popular belief.
  16. Are we going for Verlander?
  17. They’re both fine at SS for a few more years, especially if they can hit. But Bogey will eventually have to move to 3B and Swanson to 2b
  18. Swanson has one of the weakest arms of all the short stops in baseball. He’s a second baseman in waiting.
  19. The thing is, they do sign stars, they’ll sign the prize star off the off-season and set the market, they just don’t do that every offseason
  20. Agreed, even the Dodgers don’t sign perineal mvp candidiases to play every position. People have equated the Sox poor financial decisions with a lack of desire to spend. This isn’t Tampa North
  21. Who says they can’t add more pitchers, including two starters?
  22. MVP makes a great point. Last weeks acquisition of Hoy Park illustrates it perfectly. 25 years ago nobody would even be taking about a guy who projects to sit on the AAA bench, but in 2022 there’s an article online about it and fans come foaming at the mouth about how Bloom is dumpster diving and use it to reinforce this belief that he’s turning us into Tampa North. Because Apparently big market teams aren’t supposed to field MiLB rosters
  23. Paxton is getting paid like a bench player, if he’s healthy the bar is insanely low for him to be worth that money. I’m fine that James exercises his option.
  24. I was going by MLBtraderumors projections, which aren’t that bad btw, they got Jose Abreus AAV of $20 spot on. Senga @15 Correa @32 Taillon @14 Brantley @12 I forget the rest, but it’s plausible
  25. That's my realistic wish list. My unrealistic wish list would be for Bogaerts/Judge/Contreras/Verlander/DeGrom Not that Bogaerts is unrealistic. But If I'm being realistically unrealistic then if I can spend big on Contreras/Judge lengthening the lineup elsewhere then I'm signing the homegrown talent to stay in Boston.
