    I think the Sox offense will be better than people think. They have several guys on the roster who have hit 30+ home runs; thought I wouldn’t bet on Story and Contreras doing it again. But I bet those guys are going to hit 20+ and as a matter of fact, if you redid the threshold to 20 almost the entire lineup looks ready to do so, minus maybe Durbin and Narvaez, though Narvy did hit 15 in his rookie season. There are several younger players with plus to plus plus raw power who very well may have that 20-30 power as well. we also haven’t seen the effect of the new ABS system which is said to be pro batter. This team will have 20+ power and tons of doubles power. With more hitters walking and getting on base. They will keep the chains moving. if someone like Roman Anthony takes a major step forward we could even border elite.

    I doubt that, the last 3 years Duran has been a 2.5 6.8 3.9 FWar guy Someone is going to pay him, and it's going to be his only payday. I don't think he's going to get a huge contract......but he's worth a lot more than just some guy who accepts the Q.O. All of this is contingent on how he plays over the next 2 years.

    Duran is the perfect candidate to let play out his team control years and then take the draft pick when he walks. I think he's a great player, and enjoy watching him play, but he's controlled to 31 with his main skill set one that typically doesn't age well. Take the two years and tip your cap to him when he gets paid.

    And at that point you're not really saving on payroll at all. Mine as well hold onto him thru camp at a minimum. I do think a day comes where he is either traded or just DFA'd.

    But why would a team trade away a good bat during spring training? any team that's looking to compete isn't going to trade away a legit MLB piece like that and teams are pretty set heading into camp. It ain't happening....this is our team for the next few months.

    BTV accepts taking on Yoshidas contract if the Sox also throw in first round draft pick #4 ranked Kyson Witherspoon and #9 ranked Marcus Phillips in exchange for taking on Yoshidas contract. We mine as well hold onto to him in case someone gets hurt in camp.

    It's all about the optics my man, do you really think the fans performing all their mental gymnastics really decide to have more sympathy for millionaires because they're not billionares?

    It was an unusual year. There was no Juan Soto, Ohtani, Sasaki, etc. Not anyone close. There a difference between what I think, what other people think, and what the consensus thinks. The way I see it is the players will get blamed, actually It might end up being closer to both sides being equally blamed but I seriously doubt the players will get any sympathy from the general public when teams are spending over 500-600 million in payrolls (high end I know)

    Heyman is reporting that clubs have "never been more united" on wanting a salary cap. Every other sport has a salary cap.

    IDK......I think the players are going to get blamed more for this one. Maybe I'm reading your post wrong, but if not I think you're totally off the mark on this one. I think A LOT of people have a problem having to take a second mortgage to take their family to a game while players get 40 million plus a year. I think a lot of fan bases are also sick and tired of seeing the same two teams soak up almost all the elite free agency talent year after year. The biggest demands from ownership appear to be a cap, and baseball is the only sport without one. I do take this away from your post.......a stoppage is 100% coming. So enjoy this season folks.

    Injuries can change a lot for a lot of teams too. What happens to the Yankees odds if they lose Aaron Judge? If they lost Aaron Judge that would literally drop them 20 places in offense projections. It really makes you realize how much a big season can not just do for a player but for a team. What if Duran has another season like his 2024 and hits for more power? what if Abreu starts hitting LHP and just becomes a monster, what if Roman Anthony looks like guy who was ranked the #1 prospect in all of baseball last year and puts up 8 WAR??? It's easy to be pessimistic, because injuries happen and guys underperform, but 50% of the time the exact opposite is happening, teams stay healthy and guys performances evolve and peak.

    Oh yeah, I wanted it open right up until opening day. I figure it fair for people to change their mind as spring training advances.

    18 90 win teams have missed the playoffs since the wild card was introduced. 210 90 win plus eams have existed since then. So, if you win 90 games you have a 91.5% chance of making the playoffs BUT WAIT! hasn't the wildcard expanded? Yes it has so intuitively the odds of making the playoffs with 90 wins is much higher than 91%

    There you go, that's all you had to say. Bold take.....bold take indeed. Not completely unprecedented......but bold. Like, somewhere at sometime on earth some guy said "hit me" showing 19 and pulled a 2. You could end up being a genius but saying they could win 90 games and miss the playoffs is historically a BAD bet

    That's all nice, but the point continues to be if they win 90 games they're almost certainly making the playoffs. That's what I, and everyone else is saying in here and you keep on ducking, dipping, dunking, and diving over here about that. A 90 win team is a playoff team, heck in the new format most teams winning 88 games are making the playoffs. In the same statement you said they will win 90 games and miss the playoffs. It's just odd to us that someone would have an optimistic take on the win total, seemingly, but then turn around and poo poo the team as not being good enough to make the playoffs. Like.....pick a lane bro.
