  1. Right, because as I clearly just showed, this organization has no ability to set the market. That’s just a cynical take. If anything, maybe the Sox reset this year because they want to go hard after Ohtani. If they seriously wanted him, they can compete for him.
  2. Anything that happened once is possible, and can happen again. I’ve been here for decades. Every time someone says Henry will never zig instead of zagging, he zigs. Not saying it will happen, or even that we are the front runners. But we shouldn’t be very surprised if the Sox make a serious run at Ohtani next year.
  3. Wrong. David Price. Same ownership.
  4. When is the last time the Red Sox set the market for free agent pitchers?
  5. That’s the thing, who are you going to sign? I’d rather roll the Dice with Ohtani next year than have signed a 40 year old Verlander. Trading for an Ace is a viable option, but makes more sense to deplete your farm when the big league club is already strong. Still wish we signed Senga. He provided much more upside than clubber.
  6. It doesn't take much to bring the boo birds out.
  7. Don’t look now but Yoshida is up to .265 with a .789 ops
  8. Wait why is Sale still pitching? Get him out, he ain’t finding it tonight
  9. Sale obviously didn’t have it today. Let’s hope the pen can hold this game
  10. Oh no!!!! We suck again!!!
  11. I think so. Sucks it’s him over Kluber but…..this is the life of a youngster with options sometimes. They should have given Bello 2-3 more starts in the minors anyways
  12. I’ve been saying this for a week and I’m going to continue beating this drum. Casas is going to break out in a big way.
  13. The past week the whole staff has been #1 in strike outs. The Sox are also #1 in home runs allowed. To me, if they can do a better job to keep the ball in the yard they will get much better. A lot of those home runs came in 1st starts
  14. I’m not correcting Rats to Rays. Actually, I think I’m just going to start calling them the rats.
  15. Up until today the Rats had one series against a team that is NOT a last place team right now. The Rays are good, but let’s see how they look at the all star break. They are on pace for 140 wins, I’d be surprised if they won 100. Not completely shocked but surprised.
  16. One thing I've noticed over the years, and this applies to more than just sports. Is it takes people a LOT longer to like someone they've decided in their mind is bad, or not good enough etc etc. than it does to take someone to dislike someone they've decided was good. The people who have made up their minds about Yoshida will probably need two back-to-back MVP seasons for them to say "You know what.....it was a good signing" but even then they won't ever go full in wrong they will say something like "yeah well, a more competent GM would have signed him for less money" conversely if someone's favorite player turns out to be serial child murderer rapist then some will exit ship but others would cling to any piece of information out there if it said other wise...even if it was from Myunclesfriendatthegymtoldmesoitcan'tbefake.com It's amazing how the human mind works.
  17. I’m fine with Chang starting at 1st and Kike starting at 2nD. Sure Duran isn’t great in CF but it makes the infield defense good and his bat has been a huge plus so far. At this point, I think I’d take Chang over Arroyo
  18. RBIs were the most important thing in the world when a Hunter was out there.
  19. Duran becomes a completely different player now if he can hit enough to get on base.
  20. Guys like Chang and Duran are only up because they needed that depth. Same thing with Winck and Crawford. But, the way they are all playing, they need to stay on this team.
  21. That's why I've been hopeful on him. That and because he was walking a ton. Weird thing is in the past 7 days he's been slugging .500 but with only one walk. It's got to be tough, he's new to the MLB, he's never faced any of these pitchers before so they are all new to him, and he's been getting a lot of LHP to start that journey. With more RHP coming up he could be poised for a breakout. I also want to see how he looks when he starts seeing guys again.
  22. Lets Say Yoshida is hot and goes 4 for 4 today. His average would be up to .270 I think a lot less people would be complaining about him if it was a steady 270 all year. But that's literally taking away 4 hits today and sprinkling them out over the last 25 days. Maybe we'd still be concerned by his lack of power, but lately, he's showing a little.
  23. The problem with batting average is it doens't measure walks, and it also doesn't differentiate between a single, a double, a triple, and a HR. Any stat in baseball on it's on doesn't tell a whole story. And.....it's all a SSS at this point. This time of year you can have a good series and raise your stats a lot still.
