  1. I actually would have been fine with EROD as the secondary guy.
  2. I think it's self explanatory the differences between Kluber and Giolito
  3. Right, because developing pitchers is just like beating the s*** out of your girlfriend. Also, you do realize that every team does this? even teams like LA/NY/TX/PHIL bring guys in that they like and think they can fix. Lets wait and see what the opening day 26 man actually looks like. Or better yet, what pitchers are you bringing in to fix the rotation?
  4. At this point in the offseason what are we really mad at? That we didn't sign Ohtani to 700 million? or Yamamoto to 325 million? Which, with what we know now, both those guys were intent on going to LA and using other teams to get the best deal. We would have had to blow them out of the water. So are we angry we didn't sign Ohtani for 900 million and Yamamoto for 400? LOL Next up. Are we complaining about not signing EROD or LUGO? Every other guy in FA/TRADE is still out there. Every other team needing pitching hasn't made a move yet either. Baseballs offseason is slow, boring, and mundane. Lets put our torches and pitchforks away until at least February, deal?????
  5. If you can get him right, he would be one of the best pitchers in this class. And it's not like he's an old washed up Corey Kluber, he looked pretty damn good for the first 2/3 of the season. For 3 years in a row he wasa top 11 candidate for CY YOUNG, and that's only two yers removed, and he looked returned to form for most of last year. Something happened, this is what good teams do, they bring guys like him in and fix him. Sox have just sucked at it lately. Breslow and company might be able to get him back on track.
  6. Made 21 starts to begin the season pitched 121 innings with a 3.71 ERA. is still only 28. If you can get Giolito right, he could be the best signing of the offseason.
  7. see above lol. Wasn't joking that much on my last one, I forgot how deep they were in the outfield.
  8. Teams also use their own internal projection systems. We could only imagine how much they vary from player to player. BTV is a useful tool, but it's not the be all end all, and it certainly can not take into account team needs, and teams internal evaluations. 75% of the time I use it, I'm just effing with people.
  9. Honestly, the more I look into it the less and less I want montgomery. He doesn't miss bats, he doesn't throw that hard, and one wonders if his stuff takes a tick down how hard he's really going to get hit. His contract could get really ugly in just a year or two. Snell carries a lot of risk too, but his pure stuff is just night/day better. I don't think we are in on him, but he would make more sense for Breslow, he likes stuff, and Jordan doesn't have his kind of stuff. We might be picking from the Stroman/Giolito/Lorenzen/Paxton group. And he may or may not go out and trade for a guy, and if he does.....it probably a name we're not talking about (such as Burnes).
  10. Exactly. I think John Henry tried to be the "smartest guy in the room" yet again and wanted to turn the franchise into what the Braves have done. And it failed miserably. He should have been looking at what the LA Dodgers have done, even if you can't match them dime for dime on spending. Yes, they're glutonous pigs, but the still do an outstanding job at scouting players, fixing players, making trades, and despite picking at the end of the first round they do a good job of drafting and developing players. Maybe he has changed his mind, and the ghost of christmas past came to visit him and reminded him of a time when he was a better owner, and the ghost of christmas present showed him all the angst he is causing in Sox nation. The real coup de grace was the ghost of christmas future, who hopefully showed him a bankrupt team with a completely empty stadium. A direct result from his frugalness.
  11. I forgot Weissert had options, so maybe 1-2 depending on how well Slaten performs.
  12. I'm going to go with 2.
  13. This feels like a semantics battle. Moon has clearly laid out that they spend money, they come close to the cap, reset, and every few years blow past it. You have clearly laid out that how they spend the money really really sucks.
  14. I don't think Duran is ever going to bring an ACE in though, not unless he's the second piece. I can see him bringing in a young arm with years of control who may have a ceiling of being a #3 at best, maybe a #4 type.
  15. BTV accepts this trade: Brandon Walter Chase Meidroth Bryan Mata David Hamilton John Schreiber Nick Yorke For Corbin Burnes
  16. Also accepted: Wikelman Duran Romero For Burnes Adames.
  17. BTV accepts Duran for Burnes straight up. Slight overpay for Boston
  18. Nobody is giving the brewers a top 50 prospect for one year. We also have no ideal how Milwaukee values our guys. Are they high on Yorke? Zanetllo? Maybe they really really like Perales. I should probably lower my projection to top 5. For one year of a guy who is going to free agency in a year. 3 years of Chris Sale got you two. 1 year doesn’t get you one. But hey who knows, maybe the Breweries find someone desperate
  19. Probably a bad comp, with Girsham and multiple years of control ultimately effecting the value of that trade.
  20. They wont get more than the return for Soto.
  21. This may be true, but it's not like other teams have games were they score an absurd amount of runs. The offense also slumped all out once down the stretch. Hard to be motivated when you lose. The team could be significanly better by just improving the D and P.
  22. Which is why he's probably not going to cost you even 1 of your top 6 or 8 prospects.
  23. And if he signs tomorrow, Montgomery will be holding up the market. Hey, remember how selfish Ohtani was for not signign earlier? and Yama? what about these guys??????
  24. Who says he's taking a discount, you offer him a contract he finds fair then maybe he does sign an extension. A.) I'm not saying it happens, or even the Sox think he's worth what he wants. B.) that's like a secondary benefit, like the DSL throw in to a trade. I make this trade if I'm not giving up top tier prospects because the thought of him not talking extension and only being a 1 year rental depresses his return.
