  1. He won’t be working from home anymore here
  2. They're not starting all of Rafaela, Duran and Abreu, I'd be surprised if two of those guys are starting. Duval isn't a good option to start, giving his age and injury history he should be relegated to a platoon role. He fits the need of a RH-hitting bench bat that can play all three outfield positions. He's actually a good fit for the roster, but he has even splits, even reverse splits at times. That's fine, even preferable for an everyday player.......which Duval is not. All this makes the argument for keeping Verdugo, you need starters in the outfield.
  3. But he can't stay healthy for an entire season, I don't want to rely on him starting. Also, we have plenty of guys who can hit righties, it's good RHB this team is lacking.
  4. A good plan poorly executed looks an awful lot like a s*** plan. The Sox might think Breslow is just the Bloom that can actually do what Bloom said he was going to do. Or not.
  5. This is accurate, however. I always thought the "tampa north" branding was representative of that analytical mindset heavily employed in Tampa. Breslow is of a similar mind. They're more alike than they're different.
  6. Considering neither a full time player anymore, I'd put my money on the guy much younger. Bader vs. LHP is just as good as Duval, if used properly he'd be an upgrade.
  7. One word. Both words
  8. One word. Harrison Bader
  9. In that story, reportedly he went right back in the room and gave the presentation again in laymen’s terms and it went great. I’d say he’s a pretty quick learner.
  10. Breslow has MLB pitching experience, Bloom does not. That is why.
  11. maybe, I anticipate Breslow brings him along in some capacity.
  12. This has me thinking the problem was at least partially due to bad coaching, but on the other hand you can only coach guys up so much.
  13. Hey man, everyone doubted me last year when I said Verdugo would have a bounce back year with the glove. I'm calling it again. Casas will be legit on D nextyear.
  14. Trading isn't the only way to bring people into your organization, and Mayer isn't your only prospect. So again, I'd say there are just as many permutations to future success that involve Mayer on this roster. Perhaps even more.
  15. What role do we think Andrew Bailey will have in the organizational? Hard to believe Breslow won’t bring his boy in. Pitching coach?
  16. The answer to this question should be yes, I'd rather trade Mayer to have another shot at a ring. The problem with this question, is it doesn't point at that their are just as many, perhaps more permutations of the future that lead to Sox rings with Mayer at SS.
  17. I agree, I believe this. I just think it's also true they've talked the talk and not walked the walk before. It's like "trust but verify" I cautiously believe them, and optimistic wait with anticipation. But show me the money!
  18. Yup, I messed my years up, so he actually did trade for Kimbrel before his first full season here, but Sale came after one year. I expect Breslow to make changes, I just think the team needs something a lot bigger than trading for a closer, even if that closer was elite. The Sox need two elite starters. The circumstances are certainly right for me to be wrong and Breslow to be the exception, it would be pretty exciting if that's the case.
  19. It feels like everyone is a left fielder. And here we have a likely GG right fielder for one more year with an average offense. That's a rock on your roster. Not your #3 hitter but you plug him in RF and go look to upgrade elsewhere. I get the desire to trade him. I get the argument, and I don't 100% dispute it. I just prefer to keep Alex for one more year.
  20. Looking at the history of GM's don't be shocked if Breslow doesn't go all out, often they get into an organization for a year first. Even DD lived with Farrell for a year before he fired him, and he traded for Kimbrel and Sale after being here 1 and 2 years. then again nothing surprises me nowadays. I'm prepared for anything this offseason.
  21. Historically there’s a lot of action going on before then during the winter meetings. Regardless I wonder how many free agent signings elsewhere it takes until people start complaining about BresBlow doing nothing.
  22. I think the plan was for Story to play 2nd. When Bogaerts left the plan was for him to play SS for 1 to 1.5 years and then Mayer takes over.
  23. Blooms gone, we are talking about Bresblow now.
  24. I'm certain posters like OldRed are at least curious about putting Bloom back in the box and seeing how fun a nice shiny new Breslow toy feels.
  25. Maybe, maybe not, doesn't change that Breslow may or may not be given a longer leash to operate under when it comes to financial decisions.
