  1. Sox are energized right now. Playing with a lot of confidence. On the other hand, the Yankees look demoralized. Almost expecting to lose.
  2. Diehard Red Sox fan Tommy Lykitis on the Sale trade. " I thought it was a great deal at the time. I thought Sale was washed and Grissom was at least a four star prospect. I was wrong. I admit it. No excuses. It happens. I still trust Breslow."
  3. In the week ahead, the Sox have three at home with the A's and three at home with K.C. The Yankees have three on the road with the Rays and three on the road with the Orioles. It is conceivable that the Sox could catch the Yankees by the All Star break.
  4. I don't usually criticize the announcers too much , but I have to say this: When Jansen went to 3-1 on Judge in the ninth, Karl Ravech actually said, " I wonder if he will give him anything to hit here. " One of the dumbest comments I have heard. It was a three run lead with two outs and nobody on base. The last thing you want to do is walk him. How is Ravech is getting paid to be a baseball announcer when he doesn't even understand something as basic as that ?
  5. Disagree. While the time off would probably be better for him, it is still an honor to be an All Star. I would bet that he was disappointed.
  6. You were right. Nothing against Clay Holmes, but I would like to know by what criteria he deserves to be chosen over Kenley.
  7. Now, I'm not a baseball expert or anything , not into advanced analytics at all, but it seems to me that the Yankees would have a team meeting before a Red Sox series and state firmly that " we are not going to let Devers beat us. " " You got that guys?"
  8. I don't know if the Rangers will be sellers, but if they are a Sox reunion with Eovaldi might not be a bad idea. And it should not take one of the top prospects to get him.
  9. True. As good as the next day's pitcher.
  10. Stealing bases is easier that it has been in the past. I think some pitchers have become more or less resigned to it and just mainly try to focus on the batter. Makes it very difficult for the catcher to throw out the faster runners.
  11. Being sellers at the deadline would be disappointing and disgusting. It would anger the clubhouse and alienate the fans. I am certain that Breslow realizes that.
  12. They name the rest of the All Star teams tomorrow. Which of the Sox will make it ? I say there will be four. Devers, Duran, Houck and Jansen.
  13. You have to be willing and able to top other teams offers. So, if you are going to make too many of your prospects untouchable , you are going to have trouble trading for the better pitchers out there.
  14. The Yankees find out that " Closing ain't easy." It will be tough for them to bounce back from such a devastating defeat. And their lack of hustle is not too good a look.
  15. Sox have been hot. Yankees have been struggling. Probably the biggest series of the season so far.
  16. Have to like Cora's attitude. When asked about the wild card race , he said " Let's get greedy and win the division." Or something to that effect. That is what you want to hear from everyone in the organization. Especially now as they head into what is probably the biggest series of the season to date.
  17. I don't know how to research it, but I very much doubt anyone else has done that. Pretty sure he is the only one.
  18. The Sox finished in last place three out of the four years that Bloom was in charge. I can't assume that his trade deadline deals, or lack of same, were the main reason for his firing. The overall performance just was not good.
  19. Hardly a day goes by without another pitcher going on the I.L.
  20. It is good to remember that ballplayers, like many employees, build their salaries from longevity, years of productive service. Sometimes they are getting a good paycheck when their performance is not what it once was. But they have little job security. Is that fair? You decide. Emmanuel Clase is a better closer than Kenley Jansen at this point. But should he be getting more money than Kenley? Should the much-coveted Mason Miller? Or do they need to produce at a high level for a couple or a few more years?
  21. Smith is a lefty.
  22. Why not try and stop being such a phony, pompous, know it all ? Your act is beyond annoying. What makes you think it is cool to talk down to people ? It's not. It just makes you look like a jerk.
  23. Not a good analogy. Here is a better one. Saying the bullpen was better except for the closer is like saying my new car is better except for the engine. As a fan of Dombrowski, I have always criticized him for neglecting the bullpen in 2019. Both before the season, during the season and at the deadline.
  24. The 2019 relief pitching was a big reason for the disappointing season. To say that it was better than the 2018 bullpen is so preposterous that I am just going to attribute that to you being a contrarian. No objective observer would ever make that statement. I don't need to rehash all of the details of the blown save rule. A blown save is not a good thing. Everyone knows that. And I certainly did say that injuries and under performance from the rotation was also a factor. End of discussion.
