  1. I am just stating the facts. The bottom line realities. Others can give the spin , the opinionated possibilities, the what ifs , maybes , could haves, and might haves. The excuses and extenuating circumstances. But none of that changes the bottom line reality. And that is that Dombrowski took over a struggling team , and turned it around immediately.
  2. Keep in mind that Dombrowski took over a team with serious pitching deficiencies, both starters and bullpen. And there was no apparent pitching help on the way in the ( well stocked and thriving) farm system. Not the mention that the team had finished last the previous two seasons and the fans were getting restless. How is that for an " oversimplification " ?
  3. Dombrowski's Red Sox won the A.L. East three consecutive years. That had never happened before. And it may be a while until it happens again. That's a pretty big deal.
  4. It was a classic steal home situation. Two outs , left handed pitcher, left handed hitter , fast runner , Kershaw takes that big , over the head stretch. I don't blame him for trying , but he was clearly out. I do think that Snell vs Gonsolin favors the Rays.
  5. You can't count the Rays out yet. They are fighting so hard. They have a favorable pitching matchup for Game 6. This is not over by any means.
  6. My biggest complaint with Dombrowski is his ignoring the Sox bullpen prior to and during the 2019 season. The injuries to , and underperformance by , the starting pitchers were just one of those things that happen. The bullpen problems were predictable and should have been seen coming a mile away.
  7. That is basically just a cheap shot at the Red Sox , disguised as a comment on Betts signing with the Dodgers being a good thing for the Sox.
  8. Congrats to Bard. I agree. I always pull for the former Sox players. Except when they are competing against us , of course. I don't get it when people say , " I root for the team , not the players." The players ARE the team. Very few of them play their whole careers for the same team. That's the way the game is today. But if a player has contributed to the Red Sox success , I will always appreciate it. Good job , Daniel Bard.
  9. That's why guys like Mariano and Eck are in Cooperstown.
  10. That was one exciting baseball game. All credit to the Rays. They repeatedly came from behind and wound up shocking the Dodgers. And as I have said a thousand times , " Closing ain't easy. "
  11. Yeah. But you have to admit that " No No Nannette " was a heckuva good play. Sometimes you just do what you have to do.
  12. Yeah , but we didn't even beat Baltimore. The Baltimore " freaking " Orioles beat us.
  13. If the Sox don't do well next year , you will hear " It's only been two years. And besides , it's not Bloom's fault, it's somebody else's fault. " And so forth in 2022. He will have a long leash.
  14. Okay. I am trying to be optimistic. Hoping for the best , and hopefully sooner rather than later. I do know that Chaim Bloom is highly regarded by many . I also know that he has been in baseball all of his adult life , and so far has just a room full of " Participation Trophies " to show for it.
  15. The " BLOOMIES" are giving Chaim much love and an extremely long leash. That is commendable, but keep the scoreboard in mind. We did finish dead last , after all.
  16. Yankee fans were , and still are , often very obnoxious and overbearing. That has certainly been a factor in many folks hating the Yanks. To be perfectly honest , the obnoxiousness level of Red Sox fans has gone up considerably in recent years. However, it is not yet near the level found in New York.
  17. Harm , I have to say that your memory is remarkable.
  18. I like the universal D.H. rule. I would keep that. I do not like the runner on second extra innings rule. I would definitely scrap that one
  19. For some reason , teams always seem to interview a couple of guys that they have no intention of hiring.
  20. Tapia throws very hard , but he has never really had the success that you would like to see . No longer a kid either.
  21. Nobody can accuse the Gold Glove committee of lacking a sense of humor.
  22. Don't underestimate the influence of TalkSox.
  23. Let the good times roll, I always say . ( Well , I don't always say it , but sometimes I do say it. )
  24. Not to mention, Looney birds on TalkSox.
  25. Two years ago we were celebrating " the greatest team ever assembled ". Now , we are debating whether to sign Pillar or Marisnick.
