    Sox have acquired Delino DeShields from Texas. Seems there are a few loopholes in the trade deadline rule.

    The Red Sox are ranked as the third most valuable MLB franchise. Worth 3.5 billion. Slightly behind the Dodgers. The Yankees are first. The ticket, concession and merchandise prices are borderline outrageous.

    People make things too complicated. Watch Houck pitch. You will see that he has excellent stuff and should be in the rotation.

    Verdugo was somewhat damaged goods due to a rather unsavory off-field incident. He apparently has been a model citizen in Boston, if a tad disappointing at the plate.

    I think a crapshoot means that every playoff team has a legitimate chance. But not necessarily an equal chance. We should be able to agree on that.

    It's a baseball forum. It's supposed to be about an exchange of ideas and opinions. True , some folks get a little too smug and all knowing about theirs, but that's okay. Have a nice day.

    Run differential tells you something about a team's strength, but it doesn't mean everything. Every game is a new day , a new contest. How many times after winning a blowout do you hear fans say , " Why can't we save some of those runs for tomorrow?" Unfortunately, that is still not permitted.

    Somewhere in Carolina: B. Swiman sits on the dock, lazily fishing. Along comes Caleb. Caleb: " Hey Swi." Swi: " Hey Caleb." Caleb: "Hey Swi , how they bitin '? ". Swi: " Hey Caleb, Gettin ' a few . Not too many today. Gonna head on home." Caleb: " Okay, Swi. Catch you later."

    Just when they thought it couldn't get any worse, Gerrit Cole has tested positive for Covid.

    We can never resolve the clutch argument. We can't even really define what is " clutch" . Players who play for years face so many so-called " clutch" situations that they become somewhat routine and are not really clutch at all. It's just a futile argument.

    Baseball can drive you crazy. Yankee fans entered the Stadium tonight in high spirits. Rejuvenated. Then they watched their team get shut down by a guy who was 2-12 , with a 6.19 ERA. The fans left dejected. Again. That's baseball , Susyn.

    I have seen Rizzo play a lot. He is a good , quality player. Nothing glitzy about him at all.

    An aggressive reporter interviewed Sox chief medical officer, Dr. Vinnie Boombatz as to the status of Sale and Schwarber. Reporter: " Dr., when can we expect Chris Sale back and will he be 100% ? ". Dr. Boombatz: " Well , Tommy John surgery can be tricky , so it's kind of hard to say for sure." Reporter: " Okay, thanks. How about Kyle Schwarber? ". Dr. Boombatz: " Well , he is coming back from a hamstring injury. Those can be kind of tricky. So, it's kind of hard to say for sure." Reporter: " Thank you for your expert analysis, Doctor." Dr. Boombatz: " Any time. Always glad to help."

    The loyalty to Bloom is impressive . Almost as if he can do no wrong. Personally. I would like to see him actually win something first.

    Sometime after the parade in 2018 , John Henry made a statement that he was tired of spending too much and losing money on the team. Nothing that has happened since then has indicated that he has changed his mind very much , if at all. I know we still have a high payroll, but there obviously is a tighter grip on the old debit card.

    Which shirt you are wearing, whether the fans are optimistic or pessimistic , and whoever starts the game thread really has no effect whatsoever on the outcome of the game. And there is no such thing as magic or mojo. But it's always a good idea for the manager to call a team meeting before a game where you are more likely to win. I guess it works that way with games threads too.
