  1. In 4 starts for Sept. E-Rod has a 1.78 era. Tonight is #5 hope he finishes strong. In 5 starts for Sept. Porcello has a 5.93 era.
  2. Nope. I know he's struggling a little now, but I still think in a tough situation, with men on, I like him. He seems to bear down, and gets big hits in key spots in the game.
  3. Big win! Nice.
  4. Nice article about Left of Arm of God. Saw him pitch against the Mets at Polo Grounds with my Pop. 1 hitter https://www.wired.com/2011/03/why-sandy-koufax-and-the-curveball-rule/ Side note: First victory for Tug McGraw was against Koufax, he was a starter then. In that 65 WS game he won it for Dodgers, he could not throw a curve anymore, threw that whole game with about 95% fastballs. Jeff Torborg has said he would love to see him on the guns today, he caught 1 of his No-Hitters.
  5. Familiarity that's all it is.
  6. When the Astros have Altuve in that line-up along with Correa, they are a Hitting Machine. See how the Sox Pitchers do against this Offense. Plus they are fast, put a lot of Pressure on Defense. They wont be afraid to run against Vazquez or Leon. Maybe not this series because of injury, but if we face them in Play-offs, they will run.
  7. Sale faced Toronto 3 times going into last night, they weren't so ill prepared for his herky jerky motion. You face anybody enough during the season expect 1 bad game. These are Professional Baseball hitters, they are pretty good. Especially when you face a Pitcher 3 times already.Don't always look at the Pitcher, look at your Opponent, they hit him, happens.
  8. In case nobody has noticed Astros are 11-3 since they got Correa back. Cleveland lost last night Astros 1 game back for best record, they might go all out against us, especially if Cleveland losses tonight and they win. Tonights game is big for us.
  9. Its not panic time, but its hurting us big time, to line-up starters, and give them rest. If Sale has to go Sunday to win it, this is the problem. Tonight's game is huge. Yanks don't have to do anything, they can just go 70-80 pitches with their Starters, if they win it great, if they don't, they already know its WC anyway. Keep your Starters fresh if you win the WC. That's the only pressure game for the Yanks. Pressure on the Sox not the Yanks, to end it.
  10. Like Lou Merloni's theory about Sale as season progresses. He faces team more than 2 times, and teams aren't so surprised at his stuff and his motion. It happened to him when he was in the Central Division. More you face a guy the more comfortable you are you can figure him out. Maybe slight decline, notice only slight is needed to catch up to pitcher like Sale, when you faced him multilple times. Cleveland faced him for years, not as ill prepared with his herky jerky motion. Relax he'll figure it out too good a Pitcher.
  11. SOS for final week. http://www.espn.com/mlb/huntforoctober
  12. I also think the Catcher was the guy who should be covering a base that he always covers. Had plenty of time to get there, once play was at 2nd base. I think everyone was watching. Who got the ball off of carom? Cant remember. I Think that's important.
  13. This is need to be continued thread. At this point I'm really liking this team. These come from behind wins show me something. I don't care teams you play against. It's the mentality, that I like. You can have we'll get them tomorrow, or you can keep trying. This isn't Football, it's really hard to come back in the Majors on the Road. Not nervous anymore facing either the Guardians, or Astros. Lets finish the job this year.
  14. This again ^^^ Brain Fart. How many times a play like this happens. Nobody prepared.
  15. This ^^^ Does the 2 extra days rest, let him pitch against Toronto? Don't want Sale facing Astros in this series. Don't want Astro hitters gaging on him for a start in the season.
  16. This team is something, come from behind against anyone is tough. They just don't quit. This is good stuff.
  17. When he's cleared to pitch providing no other problems, he'll be 21 how many innings will they put on him that year. 80 Tops. So now 22 next year 110, 23, 140. Clock is starting to tick at age 24. For him especially, by the time he hits FA he'll be about 30. That's why I bet they make him a Reliever. You think he comes back goes to Triple AAA, and they tell him to throw 150 innings, first year back from TJS? By time Espinoza makes the Majors, Pomeranz will be pitching for the Dodgers, making 20+ a year.
  18. What was the run differential from last years Sox to this years? Looks like about 100 runs from last years team to this years at seasons end. Tells you the importance of Pitching, and Defense. Papi and Hanley, Betts, were great last year, but getting Sale was huge. Thinking about it only 100 runs not that bad, with No Papi, Hanley stinking, and Betts down a bit. Sept 24 last year Hanley had 110 RBI's.
  19. Last 19 games every team except the Cardinals have played teams with an average under .500 winning percentage that was in contention. Sox, Guardians, Astros (at that time), Brewers (at that time), Dodgers, Yanks, Cubs, Diamondbacks, Rockies, Rangers, (at that time), and Royals, and Nationals. All contenders, have played teams with about a .486 winning percentage, at that time. Not just the Sox. Here's an update as it stands now. http://www.espn.com/mlb/huntforoctober
  20. Win on the road is hard, don't matter who. How many teams have a winning record on the road this year? 7 out of 30. Didn't we get swept by Oakland earlier this year on the road? Growing up the Old Managers used to say play .600 at home and .500 on the road and you will be in the hunt.
  21. Next weekend is going to be something, if Astros go for best record, and the Sox are still going for Division win. Might be Play-off Part 1.
  22. For that matter the Astros and Sox will be facing each teams Pitchers within a week, if we get them. Strange schedule.
  23. Then Sox better not Pitch Sale in the Astros series that's coming up. Face same Pitcher 3 times in a span of a few days not good. It could be the Astros. That's why I really hope we finish this against Toronto.
  24. Teams better not take the Sox lightly. On the Road, winning tough games, beating teams they must beat. To me they are the team that's peaking at right time. They still had to stay ahead of the Yanks. It was only 3 games when they started this trip, they will go home, with at least 3 games ahead. This, while the Yanks were at home. This is Play-off baseball, every game meant something. Still does, now finish the job. If they win tomorrow they finish season with a 45-36 record on the road, that's not easy.
  25. Fister has to be thinking he might be Pitching for a Roster spot, maybe not for us but another team next season. I expect a bounce back from him.
