The Rays have lost 11 out of their last 16. Everyone knows Tampa's real goal is to spend as little money as possible, so if they continue freefalling in July I'd expect them to sell off as many parts as they can, including their nice bullpen pieces.
Stanton was healthy almost all of last year and carried the offense for much of the season. Not sure what to say about 2019. I still think he'll be productive in the 2nd half. And i think the Marlins are eating a portion of his contact too.
Whereas Sandoval and Rusty are being paid richly by the Sox to stay far away from Fenway, thus prohibiting your team from getting the bullpen help it needs, or as you said, crippling it.
It looked like he was tipping his pitches somehow, or wasn't hiding the ball long enough during delivery. The grand slam was on an 0-2 count I believe and it was off of a fastball high and out of the zone. Every hitter was on every pitch he was throwing.
I think Holder has reached the end of his leash. He's given up 13 runs in his past 5 innings of mop up duty. Send him down and let him re-earn his way back up to the bigs (like Chad Green did).
Boone really mixing things up with today's lineup:
1. Aaron Judge RF
2. Gary Sanchez C
3. Didi Gregorius SS
4. Giancarlo Stanton
5. Edwin Encarnacion 1B
6. Brett Gardner CF
7. Gleyber Torres 2B
8. Gio Urshela 3B
9. Cameron Maybin LF
P James Paxton
Hicks out again, supposedly he's dealing with a shoulder issue now. I hope he does not become the next Ellsbury. I'm also surprised they did not make a move to add another reliever. With Green and Hale unable to pitch today, they'd be shorthanded if this game went into extras or Paxton shits the bed.
Florial, Deivi Garcia, Gil, and Loaisaga are all around Top 100ish. Probably none of them would be in the top 50 though.
Pereira, Seigler, and Cabello have a shot at being top 100 by year end depending on how they perform the next few months.
Scherzer's contract makes it so the Nats won't get very good prospects back in return. I think about $100M of his salary is deferred until the year 2028 or something like that, no team wants any part of that s***. Unless the Nats eat a chunk of his salary then trading Scherzer would not net them much.
No word yet on who gets booted for Judge. But if I had to guess I think Hale gets DFA'd and Nestor gets sent down for Judge and Chance Adams. They need another long man in the pen.
I'd say it was more about Snell imploding. Yanks only had two hits on him (single and a short porch HR). He just couldn't find the plate, and the reliever they brought in behind him allowed all three inherited runners to score.
Sevy to start throwing off a mound next week. Which means he probably won't get into sim/rehab games until mid July, so early August is probably a realistic return date barring any setbacks.
For luxury tax purposes (which is what seems to matter the most) the Yanks will only be hit with $3M this year and $5M next year (assuming they decline the team option).
