  1. Roansy Contreras seems to be turning the corner as well. After a rough first few months, he has a 1.93 ERA over his last 7 starts. This includes his gem last night (7 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 10 K).
  2. YS right field is a hitter's wet dream, can't disagree with that. But what's the counterpoint, that Fenway's left field isn't super hitter friendly because it knocks down some line drives that could be HRs? It also gifts some pop fly HRs and doubles that would be outs in most other stadiums. There's a reason most hitters take aim at it, because even a not-so-well struck ball can get you a hit off the backboard. Anyway, my point is "kettle calling the pot black" or whatever the hell that saying is.
  3. Smallest Outfields in MLB 1. Fenway Park (Red Sox) 2. Progressive Field (Guardians) 3. Citizens Bank Park (Phillies) 4. Great American Ball Park (Reds) 5. Yankees Stadium (Yankees) https://community.fangraphs.com/complete-outfield-dimensions/
  4. Once the baseball makes contact with the bat it will activate little propellers on the ball
  5. Even if he flames out he'll always have one of the coolest MLB names.
  6. The one thing the Yanks have been missing this year is someone new stepping up in the bullpen. It has seemingly happened every year (Holder last year, Green the year before, Warren before that) but everyone they've brought up this year has been a dud or below average at best (Tarpley, Harvey, Adams, Barrett, Cortes, the two random dudes who pitched last night). Cessa has been okay but is pretty undependable in a big spot. Maybe Loiasaga can be that guy once he gets off the IL.. but it would certainly help to have another dependable one-inning arm in the playoffs when Boone SHOULD have a quick hook for our starters.
  7. I think it's because he's the only other pitcher on the 40 man roster who isn't injured. I imagine Loaisaga will replace him once healthy.
  8. There hasn't been a tie game in almost 30 years. I'm guessing they send both teams out there regardless of their records. Why would these teams/MLB pass up the chance to make some more money???
  9. I mean the Orioles are straight trash, but it's pretty insane how many runs the Yanks' AAAA team put up this series.
  10. A lot of memorable things have happened this season but this is definitely up there as one of my favorite plays of the year: https://twitter.com/BrendanDUB/status/1158913023228227586?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1158913023228227586&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.12up.com%2Fposts%2Fvideo-slo-mo-clip-of-orioles-outfielder-dj-stewart-getting-hit-in-head-is-unfortunately-hilarious-01dhmxnne659
  11. Just saw stats showing that Mike Tauchman has a 1.8 WAR (6th on the Yankees, 95th out of all position players in the MLB) despite only playing 59 games w/ 190 PAs. His slash line is .294/.368/.541 with a 137 wRC+ Pretty wild. I remember Yankee fans wondering what he was doing on the roster at the beginning of the year (myself included), and now he's a core part of the current team.. or at least until everyone gets healthy. I don't think his play is sustainable but it's been fun to watch.
  12. Defense saved tanaka from 3 additional runs all in separate innings. Masa didn't look good after the lineup turned over just once. Luckily the murderers row of tauchman, ford, valera, and romine combined for 4 HRs and 7 RBIs.
  13. I think Weber just looked good compared to Price. DP had absolutely nothing yesterday. He managed to make career minor league hitters look good. Although that two-seamer Weber was throwing did look really nice at times.
  14. Word on gleyber is that it's a core issue. Test results forthcoming. This is what I get for that optimistic post I made about our injury situation a few days ago.
  15. Full of optimism until Rodgers' knee gets broken in 5 places by week 3
  16. A Sunday night game on ESPN ughhh.
  17. Hicks with a f***ed up elbow now. At this rate Tyler Wade will be our cleanup hitter in the ALDS.
  18. EE with a broken wrist. Let's see who else hits the IL by tomorrow night.
  19. Sox definitely got hosed by the umps. Maybe Sale boinked Estabrook's wife
  20. Could be a tough matchup. McKay is a consensus top 20 prospect in baseball. He's had a handful of starts in the bigs this year with mixed results, so I'm curious to see which version shows up.
  21. Porcello??? More like POOR SMELL OH!!!!! Gosh I am really bored at work.
  22. The only reason I can think that Frazier is still in AAA is to manipulate his service time and get an extra year out of him. Which is f*cked up but seems to be a pretty common occurrence around baseball.
  23. Alright there's been too much negativity lately in Yankees universe, let's get some positive news going: DJ LeMahieu went through pre-game warmups yesterday with no issues. They've been holding him out as a precaution but he'll likely be available against Boston. Brett Gardner was able to run and hit after getting a cortisone shot in his left knee over the weekend, and is looking on track to return tomorrow when first eligible to come off the IL. Gary Sanchez ran inside and hit in the cage on Tuesday. He's progressing ahead of schedule but is not expected back this weekend. Could possibly return towards the end of next week if all continues going well in his recovery. Luis Severino and Dellin Betances threw from 90 feet yesterday. While they're still far away from returning, it is positive that they're no longer sitting around in recovery mode. Jonathan Loasiaga and Mike King began rehab assignments on Tuesday. This is important as they are our best minor league depth should any other starters get injured. And lastly, despite no significant trades yesterday one thing we can be happy about is that Clint Frazier is still on the team and capable of injecting some pop into the lineup should we need him down the stretch. My guess is that he's called up at some point in August and plays a lot of DH with Edwin spending more time at 1st base.
  24. Can't argue with the stats. But just to defend my memory.. Greinke with: LAD: 2.38 ERA MIL: 6.48 ERA AZ: 7.27 ERA Don't mind me, I'm just trying to convince myself that the Astros will be worse with another ace on their team.
