  1. Yeah Houston. Aside from the Dodgers they're probably the most complete team in baseball.
  2. Yeah s*** happens. Chapman was a little off but he made enough good pitches. Just had some bad luck hits - slap single the other way against the shift, jam shot that was lofted over second for another single, and lazy fly ball that carried over the short porch. I think his mistake was continuously pitching d'Arnaud away when everyone knows that he's trying to hit the ball oppo. Oh well. With that post I've officially moved on from this loss.
  3. The only thing I ever liked about Nunez (when he was on the Yankees) was how his helmet always went flying off his head when he ran to first, rounded the bases, etc. Dude was an awful fielder, had a decent bat, and was kind of a bonehead on the bases.
  4. Sucks to lose. Especially solely due to the bat of a scrub that not even the Mets wanted.
  5. Bad move. Could've gotten at least a 20 piece McNuggets for him.
  6. Cashner himself isn't very good, but when you look at what he'll be replacing every 5th day it should make a difference. There have been 16 games started/opened by Velazquez/Weber/Johnson/Hernandez/Smith this season and they've combined for a 6.79 ERA and 1.66 WHIP.
  7. Guess you gotta celebrate the few Yankees losses when you can
  8. Sevy would be a big weapon in the postseason if we can get him back by late Aug/early Sept. Even if he's just throwing a few innings at a time out of the bullpen. I think you still get him ready for 2019.. unless tomorrow's tests come back showing that he's still injured.
  9. Here's a pretty fun tool that lets you come up with trade scenarios using derived trade values for every player: https://www.baseballtradevalues.com/trade-simulator/ Based on this Wheeler would cost the Sox something like Casas and Lakins; and Roobie Ray would cost the Yanks something like Clint Frazier and Garrett Whitlock If anything this should at least help dispel the idea that you can trade all of your scrubs away to get a good player.
  10. As we all could have guessed, Deivi Garcia has shot up the prospect boards. He's thrown 68.2 innings across A+/AA with a 3.01 ERA and 114 Ks. He recently appeared in the Futures game and pitched a perfect inning while showcasing his full arsenal of pitches. He was also promoted to AAA yesterday even though he just turned 20. All of this has led to him being ranked the 25th best prospect in baseball by Baseball Prospectus in their midseason rankings. He is now a major league option for 2019 (likely the bullpen) when you consider that he's eligible for the Rule 5 draft next year so he'll have to be added to the 40 man roster anyway.
  11. I could see Mets management shipping Wheeler off to Boston at a discount just to spite the Yankees. And then they'll probably trade for Chris Davis.
  12. These rest days should be planned out a little better in my opinion. With the ASB coming up and trying to take the series from our closest competitor in the standings you'd think everyone would be available. The difference between a win/loss is 2 games in the standings. Who knows how things would have played out, but one would think having LaMahieu and Torres in the lineup yesterday would have significantly increased our chances of scoring more than one run.
  13. What's all this Bogaerts talk, I thought this was the Aaron Rodgers thread
  14. I am also a GB fan and watched every game last season. Rodgers definitely had a bad year by his own standards and was missing a lot of easy passes. But let's not forget he basically tore something in his knee week 1 against the bears and still played the whole year, behind a poor o-line (outside of bakhtiari and linsley) and throwing to an awesome davante adams + washed up jimmy graham and a bunch of 6th round rookies. These are all excuses sure, but even with all these factors he still managed what most other QBs would consider a good year.
  15. Aaron Rodgers' bad years are still better than most other QBs best years. 4400 passing yards, 25 TDs, 2 INTs, 97.6 passer rating (also almost 300 rushing yards and 2 rushing TDs).
  16. No tanks driving in front of the White House? What a ripoff.
  17. Sucks to lose late like that. Especially to the s***** Mets. But it happens, get em tomorrow.
  18. I don't think Estrada qualifies anymore. Could be wrong though. And yeah forgot about this year's draftees
  19. I wouldn't slot a 16 year old that high on the list even if he's being compared to Trout. My rankings are something like this: 1. D Garcia 2. Florial 3. Gil 4. Loaisaga 5. Seigler 6. Abreu 7. Schmidt 8. Pereira 9. Cabello 10. Whitlock 11. Breaux 12. King 13. Dominguez 14. A Garcia 15. Ryder 16. Myatt 17. Stowers 18. Sauer 19. Nick Nelson 20. Osiel Rodriguez
  20. Seems like a bit of a desperation move. When is Nate due back anyway?
  21. I wonder what happened. I saw that he posted something on Twitter within the past 24 hours. RIP. Edit: He was found dead in his hotel room in Texas (they were in town to play the Rangers). No foul play suspected. So then it was likely either a stroke/heart attack, drugs, or suicide. Very depressing.
  22. Probably one of the most noteworthy points in the article: The Sox have roughly $100MM committed to players who have combined for only +0.6 fWAR in 2019 It's hard to win when almost half your payroll is contributing nothing.
  23. The funny thing is that the players are the ones who voted for the reserve all stars and the picks still got screwed up.
  24. If you can't use your scrubby relievers in 11 and 8 run games then why bother having them on the team. They just need to do a less s***** job.
  25. I wonder if there's something about this time of day that makes it easier for hitters. This is right around yesterday's start time when 12 runs were scored early.
