  1. For real. Looking at where our starting pitching is now, missing out on Keuchel for nothing but cash looks really bad.
  2. I still don't get how the Mets are always such s*** despite having one of the best rotations in baseball annually. Adding Stroman seems like a good move but it's the Mets, so I anticipate him losing a hand in the ball retrieval machine at a bowling alley.
  3. What a s*** series. Nothing like getting manhandled by your biggest rival to make you forget how great the season is going. Next series against them is in less than a week at YS, would be nice if they get s*** straightened out by then.
  4. They're definitely going through a rough patch. It happens.. it's just unusual that every starter is struggling at the same time. Before this past week Yankees' starters were ranked 8th in MLB in park adjusted ERA. This past week+ has caused that ranking to shoot up to 15th. Recency bias is causing everyone to exclaim that the rotation is utter dogshit, but they've actually been quite effective for most of the season. Either way I agree they need at least one more starter.
  5. Maybin was activated today. Tarpley was sent back down to AAA to make room. I understand the move but poor Clint Frazier. I'd be surprised if he isn't moved in some deal for a starter.
  6. The only good thing about getting stomped like that from the 1st inning is that it frees up the rest of your night.
  7. I haven't checked the score but I assume the Yankees came back and won by 10
  8. What the hell 7 runs after 1 inning.. Is this game being played in London???
  9. I think Gardner was IL'd more for roster flexibility. The bullpen is a little spent and they wouldn't have been able to call up Tarpley without someone going on the IL.
  10. That's pretty huge. He was just starting to pitch well again. So I guess the Rays will have two starters and three openers now?
  11. Last year the Yankees barely set the single season HR record with 267. The stars aligned with Torres, Andujar, Didi, and Hicks entering their prime; Judge, Stanton, and Sanchez continuing to be sluggers in their prime; and other power hitters offering various contributions throughout the year such as Voit, Bird, Neil Walker, Tyler Austin. This year, four teams are on pace to surpass 267 HRs (Twins, Dodgers, Brewers, Yankees) with two more on pace for about 265 (Astros and Mariners). The leader of the group, the Twins, is on pace for 311 HRs (44 HRs or 16% more than last year's record). What took a lot of things going right for the Yankees last year is now an accomplishment that the tanking Mariners are on pace to duplicate. The evidence of the juiced ball is obvious, not sure why Manfred continues to deny it.
  12. Word. The Yankees had what can be considered a great regular season last year winning 100 games. That would've been awesome to watch any other year. But I couldn't even enjoy it because we were always looking up at Boston in the standings. I'm sure the average fan probably thought Boston was fun to watch, but it didn't entertain me. It pissed me off. And it made me unappreciative of the Yankees' season. So I imagine that's a similar sentiment for Boston fans this season with the Yankees continually winning. Even though Boston hasn't been great, if the Yankees weren't playing this well and Boston was tied for the division lead would all of you be as critical of the Red Sox as you have been so far?
  13. 12:10 start time, what the hell is up with that
  14. Sanchez to the IL with a groin injury. Hopefully it's a short term stint. He had been slumping but looked to be snapping out of it with a couple of rockets yesterday (unfortunately none for hits).
  15. Fun stat: the Yankees are undefeated this season when allowing 12 or more runs
  16. What a stressful game. I'm going to be tired as s*** at work tomorrow
  17. I'd be okay with giving up that kind of package for someone like Luis Castillo. Would need to add even more for Cincy to accept though.
  18. Shoulda had more runs yesterday. A triple play and two double plays in critical moments killed a lot of the offensive momentum. 18 runners on base, we were threatening almost every inning. Just couldn't get that big inning.
  19. Cue Bruce Springsteen's "Glory Days"
  20. That's fair. A lot of times I feel like I enjoy Red Sox losses more than Yankees wins.
  21. The O's stink but I wouldn't be so quick to call them McNeely with John Means starting.
  22. I think Tanaka has been our ace this season. He's been durable, consistent (aside from the London game), and has pitched brilliantly in our biggest matchups. German has the stuff of an ace but we'll see how his arm holds up in the second half. He's already approaching his most innings in a season so I think his starts may be scaled down a bit, or he even may be sent to the pen and paired with an opener. Like Loaisaga, his biggest knock has always been his durability.
  23. On a side note your boy JDM is mucking up my fantasy team. To think I could've selected Yellich instead...
  24. Maybe if they improve. They're not scaring anyone with their play right now.
