  1. Weird, is it just me or are you all seeing outside advertisements directly in other people's posts?
  2. I saw a blog post advocating for the Yankees to sign Pomeranz in place of Chapman. I thought it was a joke, but as a reliever Pomeranz was actually really good last year. It could be SSS flukiness but his stuff played up out of the pen (avg FB velocity increased by over 2MPH to 94.3). 28.2 IP - 1.88 ERA, 1.67 FIP, 47.2K% Relying on Pomeranz to repeat this is kinda risky but they could probably sign Pomeranz AND bring back Betances for the same price as re-signing Chapman, maybe even less.
  3. How about negative values for losing seasons too? Losing 82 games - (-1) point Losing 91 games - (-1) point Losing 101 games - (-1) point Otherwise a team who finishes one year with 82 wins and then another with 50 wins would have a higer score than a team that finishes with 80 wins two seasons in a row.
  4. This will be Greg Bird's breakout year, I can feel it! He's already playing down in one of those Latin leagues and is sporting a robust .150 average.
  5. I get what he's saying but there were several bad calls on both sides. It just happened that this one was more memorable because the pitches/plays after it led to runs. Had Soto struck out or Kendrick hit that ball foul would anybody even think about that one blown strike call? It's not like that call directly led to a run. Now having said all that, I am very much in favor of robot umps. Either that or take away the strike box for TV viewers.
  6. So who is the MVP if this score holds? I'd say Rendon or Strasburg.. but maybe Kendrick if they have short term memory?
  7. I hope it's as fun as last night's game (minus the s***** umpiring).
  8. It's okay, we still have Ellsbury. And I bet he's plenty fresh after that 33 month hiatus!
  9. I avoided this thread while I was still emotionally healing from that nut stomp of a walk-off HR. But now that I've regrouped, I think the biggest reason for our loss against the Astros was our hitting. Yes I realize the starters didn't pitch deep into games which forced the bullpen to be overworked, but overall the Yankees still held the Astros deep lineup to 22 runs in 6 games. Playing against a juggernaut of a team like them with 3 games in their own stadium as well as 3 in a hitter friendly YS, I don't know if you could have asked much more going into the series. On the hitting side though, the Yankees were atrocious when they had men on base. Their batting line with RISP? .171/.310/.286. Houston wasn't much better in those situations but they were able to come up with a few more big hits than the Yankees. So in summation, our pitching wasn't perfect but kept us in almost every game whereas our hitting is what I feel really cost us. I will now revert back to football mode. Go Packers.
  10. Happ could be good again if they revert to the pre-juiced ball. He actually looked pretty good in the postseason.
  11. I can at least live with them fighting back to tie the game and then losing. That LaMahieu at bat was one of the best I can remember, unfortunately it will just be a footnote for this game.
  12. Just prolonged the pain. Go packers.
  13. Oh baby I think I just had a mini stroke
  14. Historically, teams that have fallen behind 3-1 in a seven game playoff series have come back to win the series 15% of the time. Not good odds at all, but not impossible either.
  15. Yanks will win three straight one run games. Book it! OR they'll get blown out tonight. I'm teetering between the two scenarios.
  16. A-Rod at least was putting up respectable numbers through age 39. In my mind Ellsbury is the worst contract in history just because he hasn't even played.
  17. Maybe Jeter knew what he was doing after all
  18. Paid out my ass to freeze my dick off in the upper deck just to watch my team get s*** stomped and then spend 90 minutes on a piss soaked subway car just to get home. But would do it again because I am a degenerative psychopath.
  19. I mean technically this is about the Yankees, but it feels like this belongs more in the Sox section
  20. At $180 bucks for a seat in the upper deck, I'll be going home a little sad either way.
  21. I'll be at the game tonight. I hope we take an early lead and then pile on so I can enjoy the game rather than be stressed out. I'll also try to limit the amount of trash I toss onto the field.
  22. He probably meant he could dominate the Babe in a Spring Training game
  23. It was a low-class move for sure by those fans, but are we judging whole fanbases by their worst fans now? If so I'm pretty sure the Red Sox would win the title for most racist fans in baseball (just ask Adam Jones). BUT I'm not going to apply that moniker to a whole fanbase because obviously those few *******s don't represent the majority.
  24. Glad I was working. Ottavino is anti-clutch
