  1. I hear David Price is pushing for Eckersley to be the interim manager
  2. No ban for the guy banging on the garbage can?!
  3. I don't think Jeter will get a 100% vote. Not that he doesn't deserve it in my opinion, but people will say that so and so didn't get 100% so neither should Jeter. The way I look at it: the people in the past who purposely didn't vote for Babe Ruth/Nolan Ryan/Griffey Jr so that they wouldn't get 100% of the vote are idiots. Why continue doing the same idiotic thing that they did? If all voters agree that someone is a clear-cut HOFer then the players should receive 100% of the votes. Having one person illogically vote against everyone else for no real reason other than to keep someone shy of 100% is just dumb. But I guess that kinda falls into the spectrum of American politics: should we continue to do dumb things for the sake of tradition?
  4. It's funny seeing some of the guys on that list with 0%. Like did Brad Penny and Chone Figgins really think they had a shot???
  5. We obviously want his bat in the lineup as often as possible since he could potentially be one of our top 3 hitters (if he doesn't regress from 2018). The problem is that there's not consistent playing time at any one position since the lineup is already pretty filled out. I think we just have to live with subpar defense at whatever position he plays, so might as well have him move around. Let him play LF when Stanton is DH, or 3B when Urshela gets a day off, or 1B when Voit get a day off, or DH when everyone else is playing. He at least has the arm to be an outfielder, and has more time to react out there (which seemed to be his issue at 3rd).
  6. Per ESPN's coverage: The use of the video room for sign stealing, which one Red Sox source described to The Athletic as "cheating," was a practice only during the 2018 regular season, according to the report. Multiple Red Sox sources told The Athletic that the system was impossible to use during the postseason because Major League Baseball had in-person monitors stationed in all video replay rooms during the playoffs.
  7. But where is the fun in that???
  8. That 2018 Sox team was probably the most dominant team of the decade, and maybe even of the 2000s. Unfortunately for them, that team will now have a shadow over it because people will wonder how much of that dominance was due to cheating. Especially when you consider that basically the same exact team was brought back for 2019 and had a terrible year without cheating (I know there were plenty of other factors as well).
  9. Domestic violence AND steroids?? We must be talkin bout Steven Wright
  10. There was finally a ruling on German's suspension today, and he will miss the first 63 games of the year (81 games in total, retroactive to 9/19/19) for domestic violence.
  11. If ellsbury went to a doctor without approval from the Yankees and then re-aggravated one of his numerous injuries as a result, I think he's not getting his $26m. Maybe they'll both settle at a lower number.
  12. The in-season tournament idea sounds cool and would probably be successful. I don't like reseeding the final four in the playoffs though. Those games are already entertaining as is.
  13. Will Nike also add their logo onto the Yankees' rings???
  14. With Montgomery, Garcia, Schmidt, and even Mike King, I could see the Yankees trading Happ and not looking to fill his role with anyone new (I did not include German because his status is an unknown at this point). Out of those four there's a good chance at least one shakes out as a viable fifth starter.
  15. I think that is a moot point since NY Media was calling for Coughlin to be fired for years before it actually happened, so it's not like the media even mattered. My father is a Cowboys fan and he listens to Dallas radio after every game, and he's told me that pretty much all fans that call in as well as the talking heads have been clamoring for Garrett to be fired for awhile. But Jerry Jones needs a coach with no balls who he can walk all over, so he's probably torn on whether he should fire Garrett.
  16. He played for the Stros, not the Royals or Nebraska Corn Chuckers. Houston is the 6th biggest city in the US so I feel like that does not hold water. Are you saying dem Southern boys are nicer reporters and don't ask tough questions? Instead they're asking Cole what are his favorite fixins' to pair with some baby back ribs? We'll see how he handles the bigger spotlight in NY. But at this point I am not worried.
  17. Those AL East games against the Rays might be kinda tough. But not the rest of those division games
  18. Cole makes the rotation a lot better and provides a bonafide ace, but it is still going to be hard to replicate the win total from last season. Despite all the injuries in 2019 a lot of things went right for us, like multiple players having career years and exceeding expectations. Cole should be great, but he's essentially taking German's spot and German pitched like an ace for us for more than half the season, so I don't see our win total drastically shooting up unless we have more surprise players emerge in 2020. Where Cole should truly help is in the postseason, where we were basically relying on our guys to go four innings and turning the game over to the bullpen.
  19. Cole is a Yankee @ 9 years and $324 million. Talk about an overpay. But he makes the current Yankees team a hell of a lot better
  20. Sucks to see Didi leave. He was a great Yankee. I also didn't wanna have to change my avatar.
  21. Watch the Yanks not sign any pitchers and end up with Rendon instead
  22. Fizdale canned today by the Knicks. No shocker there. The Knicks were expected to be terrible, but not THIS terrible. What a POS franchise run by the POS Dolans.
  23. I think the over/under for games he plays in this year is 0.5 I'd take the under, but it would be cool to see him out there again playing decent ball after everything that's happened.
  24. Unless the MLB is going to come up with real rules against sign stealing then I dunno what to say. Everyone apparently does it in some form, so the Astros do it better than everyone else? If it's illegal then make it illegal, otherwise it'll just keep happening.
  25. They could give him the A-Rod treatment and pay him his contract amount to essentially be a team "consultant".
