  1. Valid....just deduct them from total base for CS and pucked off. Just rambling after going 4-2 and showing off our speed.
  2. Suppose Houck continues to pitch well for a forseeable future. I am curious as to what his arbitration numbers add up to before becoming a free agent. Compare that to extending him now. I guess what I am asking for is is it better to just go through the arbitration procees then be the highest bidder for his services knowing a pitcher can break at any time? You know "Just pay the man. Give hime the money in 3 years".
  3. D Ham leads the team in SB with 18, one ahead of Duran. Shouldn't steals count towards total base? What difference does it make if a player gets a double or a single and a steal? He is counted as a RISP...... Duran uses his speed to stretch a single into double. Just love watching D Ham run around the bases.
  4. To the fan who didn't enjoy the game I'm not sure what to say. We're closer than what we think. This group can be fun to watch.
  5. But he's always a physical specimen.
  6. I always put CC for C so my lineup tabs up better......too dumb to find another solution. I'm a lotus 123 guy so my technical skills are very limited.....some of you know what I'm talking about...Remember the day when you used an entire row to put _______ and --------?
  7. Couple of more bad outings Bello may need to sit and work it out.
  8. What's troubling now is that Pivetta, Kutter and Bello are giving up the long ball.
  9. Good post by Notin on all the failed contracts.
  10. How about this lineup for next year? LF Duran 2B Hamilton DH O'Neill 3B Devers 1B Casas SS Story RF Abreu CC Wong CF Rafaela Pretty athletic lineup with exception of Casas.....I haven't seen anything from Grissom thus far.....
  11. Do we have another gem in D Hamilton? I love his speed. He sure looks better than Grissom at the plate right now. I'd like to see him play 2B when Rafaela is playing short.
  12. Bello is making $1.667M this year. And he's pitching like he's only making $1.667M this year. Although much higher than what Houck is making. If Bello pitches well in next couple of years, he'll be extremely tradeable since his contract is backloaded. Teams such as Dodgers and Yankees would love it. They have the 'cash' to pay him but it won't count against the luxury tax payroll as much as what they are paying him.
  13. He's a classy guy. Deserves the extra s.
  14. Everything I read points to Sox dumping Janssen. Reading between the lines, they'd want to see Hendriks fill that closer's role. To me, they see Liam following O'Neill's medicals history. Of course the problem is O'Neill despite his hot start, got hurt again and looks very susceptible to injuries. Well see how Liam does when he returns in August/September. It seems we are always 'hopeful' when players are coming off injuries. To think we could go through 25' on the cheap by starting Houck, Kutter, Bello, Whitlock, Criswell and Fitts. I bet that gets JH excited. LOL
  15. My point was Story, Giolito, Whitlock and Liam are all sunken costs. Their payroll is already baked in the $106M figure I mentioned. Your last comment is very valid and one we'll find out this winter.
  16. Reminder. We are $106M under $240M cap for 2025. We lose Janssen, Martin, Pivetta and O'Neill. Without spending another penny, we return Giolito, Story, Whitlock and Liam (assuming he doen't pitch much this year). Maybe the budget is $220 M instead of $240M. How can we not be competitive if we're allowed $80M for new aquisitions?
  17. Can D Ham play 2B? He maybe better suited defensively at 2B. Struggles at short.
  18. At least Dalbec can play some 3B....ugh. Cooper?
  19. I was talking only about Pivetta, Martin and Janssen. No way we can trade Yoshida.......who'd want him?
  20. Janssen and Martin can be replaced by Hendriks and Whitlock in 2025. Unless we try again with Whitlock starting. So the task becomes making the following line up better and coming up with starting pitching. CC Wong 1B Casas 2B Grissom SS Story 3B Devers LF Duran CF Rafaela RF Abreu DH Yoshida Like I say it's a starting point. We should get something in return for Janssen, Martin and Pivetta. Hell we don't even need to get any money back. We're under the tax so we can 'buy' prospects/return.
  21. We are under the cap by $106M for 2025 with following FA to be gone. Janssen, Martin, Pivetta, O'Neill, Smith/Cooper, McGuire are 'major' payrolls coming off. We have Giolito and Liam Hendriks/Whitlock coming back. And let's not forget Story. There will be some arbitration money that will eat up some of that cap space. I've said this before, the budget for 2025 will tell us all about our organization's intent going forward. This was year of discovery, and I think we've all seen enough to come up with the core group. We need to add pieces to make us playoff bound, no not contenders. We need to join the major players in AL East, New York and Baltimore. Hell, we have $100M to do it.
  22. I don't think I can 'buy' what they're selling. We need 3 Tanners and that ain't it.
  23. With Casas returning at some point and Story next year, I think our offense will be effective, just need to find a right handed bat for DH. I'm just not sure how we're going to assemble our starting rotation. There's only three ways to do it, trade, free agency or promote from within. Current regime appears not to be interested spending big money on a free agent. At the current rate, we have following. 1 Tanner 2 3 4 Bello/Kutter 5 Kutter/Bello The team won't be any better unless we fill in the blank. (I know, I know, I'm stating the obvious)
  24. I think he's a good offensive player. It's his defense that concerns me. My thought is he is better than Valdez and he should be playing 2B (easier position in my book than short) to mitigate his defensive shortcomings. Or maybe he can play in the outfield, you know, get more lefty bats in the OF. There's no denying his speed and I like that about this team.....Rafaela, Duran, Hamilton, Abreu, Wong, Story, Refsnyder, they can all run. Casas and McGuire are the slow guys.
