  1. Yep on couple of more runs. Then we can go with our B lineup in the pen.
  2. Story can opt out after 2025 season. Sox can force to negate the opt out by picking up Story's 2028 option. I doubt Story opts out and I also doubt that the Sox would pick up his 2028 option. It's time to trade him this winter regardless of what he does, UNLESS BREGMAN also opts out. Under that scenario, we keep Story at short and have Mayer play 3B. We can avoid all that by extending Bregman to 2028 with another opt out.
  3. Giolito and Croshet are both listed at 6-6, 245 Ibs. Big boys. Richard Fitts comes in at 6-3 and 230 Ibs.
  4. I'm okay with him giving up hits. Please no walk-a-thon. You know, throwing 50 pitches in 2 innings.
  5. One final thought before the game. There was a piece on MassLive talking about Devers playing 162 games because he is just a DH. Cora spoke about keeping Devers healthy and that seems to be his biggest concern with Devers. That concern maybe what's holding back Devers from playing the field. Lots of interaction with ball and players while manning 1B. No point in losing 30 games because of a pulled muscle stretching to dig a ball on an errant throw.
  6. I'd say give him an extra year at the same salary. Go ahead and give him another year of opt out. Basically he signed for 4 years at $160M versus 3 years at $120M. He doesn't lose anything because of another opt out. Basically we are saying that HE WAS WORTH THE MONEY IN 2025 SO LETS GIVE HIM EXACT CONTRACT AND PRETEND IT'S DAY AFTER THE WORLD SERIES. 4 YEARS, $160M is pretty good security.
  7. Yariel Rodriguez will be the starter. Bullpen game. He has pitched 2 innings on 2 occasions.
  8. We'll pick him up at $14M and then he'll get hurt again with our luck....$52M investment, ugh (sorry, just get cynical at times)
  9. I'm assuming 2.00 ERA is delusional and not the 135 innings pitched, correct? lo
  10. TBD is Jay's starter today. Their rotation took a hit with double header versus the Yankees on Sunday, using Bassitt and Gausman. Berrios started Friday so he could pitch today or tomorrow. Jays sent down Lucas (#5 starter) after back to back poor starts on 4/20. Maybe they'll bring up someone or go with the bullpen. I don't believe Scherzer is ready to pitch after his last injury. They look thin at starting pitching.
  11. If I am interpreting Cot's correctly, Giolito is pitching this year at $19M and will be entitled to mutual option of $19M in 2026 if he pitches at least 140 innings in 2025. I think at most he has 25 starts left in 2025. If he falls short of 140 innings, then the Sox has the option of returning him for 2026 at $14M. Is it wrong of me to wish him 135 innings pitched with a ERA of 2.00?
  12. I was checking out the heights of American League 1B. Carlos Santana is the shortest at 5' 10'. Devers is 6' tall and he's much more quicker than Casas. Considering that Devers' errors were mostly throwing, I would be ok with him at 1B. But that would mean we have given up on Casas at a time when his trade value is all time low. Hell I would be okay with Refsnyder DH'ing.
  13. It appears we have 3 solid starters right now in Crochet, Buehler and Bello. Houck is trending similar to Pivetta three years ago when he ended up in the bullpen. Let's just hope Giolito doesn't take two months to get it right.
  14. We have 3 players hitting over .900 OPS, most in AL East (not counting Refsnyder) Bregman, Abreu, Campbell
  15. What's wrong with the Orioles? Losing 9-0 against the Yankees in the fourth. Ugh They did win yesterday so that's a plus.
  16. Campbell leads Misner of Rays in Rookie of the Year chase, ops of .927 vs .920.
  17. The bullpen looks well rested. Slaten and Chapman available.
  18. At what point do you say enough is enough? What good is it for Mayer to spend more time in AAA? He had a hot spring training. Very slow start at AAA. Now he's become a hitting machine. He certainly can play 2B well enough and also give Story and Bregman some days off to keep them fresh. Sure his bat can cool. So what? It's no different than injured major leaguers going on a rehab assignment. No one pays attention to results. They just want to see Bello, as an example, get to the 5 inning level. Mayer is ready. Hamilton has 2, count them, 2 stolen bases. Sure he maybe more valuable this week if we were in a world series and he had one specific job to do. But this is a regular season. I know I've said Campbell should just stick to 2B. Hell move him to CF some. Get enough bats for Mayer. He is wasting time in AAA. Does it matter if he goes 1-4 or 3-4? He's the same player in AAA.
