  1. if JF hates Ross so much, trade the mother. I am so sick and tired of JF. What's his love affair with Holt? Get rid of him. We have too many 5-8 guys with no athleticism. He's a waste of roster spot. Can we get someone who is a manager and not a politician? Parsing of words, skating the issues. A former pitching coach who gets every pitcher hurt.
  2. Just wait until his skills are diminished..........his teammates will be snickering
  3. Will we ever score runs for Sale?
  4. id do it in a heart beat
  5. Well, JF can always put Wright in.....he's probably a better first baseman than a pinch runner.
  6. Not criticizing him for sitting out. I'm just pointing out the irony. A grown man wants love from an opponent that's going to put him on bench but throws his teammate under the bus. I will never forget it. "it's not me, it's them" cries our 2nd baseman....them are the Sox.
  7. Dustin not playing today. He's still mad at Barnes. But he loves Machado........enjoy the f***ing game sitting on the bench.
  8. Pedroia could been seen saying, "That's not me, that's them," implying he was angry that Barnes' pitch had gone behind Machado's head in the eighth inning. He's not my captain.
  9. My thought was use the other $20M on a pitcher. Can we not get a decent pitcher at that price anymore?
  10. I believe for many, the problem was that we got into some bad contracts with the signing of Crawford. That came from nowhere. Then when the Dodgers gave us a gift by taking away burdensome contracts, I'm sure everyone was relieved. Throw that with ownership group not wanting to give long term contracts to thirty something pitchers, I thought we were going to be fiscally responsible. Then Ben Cherington does this.......one would have been enough but two? It was almost as thought we were willing to gamble $40M in order to get production out of either Hanley or Pablo. Two years ago it was neither. Last year, it was Hanley. Think about it, we've received one productive year for $80M. What other job can you f*** up so badly? And I thought getting one good year out of 3 year $39M for Shane Victorino was a rip off. Good news, Yankee game is postponed.
  11. Healthy Carson Smith, Thornburg, Workman and now Taylor........we have some arms in the pen if we can hold it together for another month. And Kimmi is right. This is an area you shouldn't have to spend inordinate amount of money. How often do you hear about a pitching prospect analysis ending with a sentence "probably a future reliever"?
  12. People slammed me for questioning how much more of a ceiling Beni had....my point was he is a true professional when it comes to hitting even at a young age. When a kid is already good, how much can he get better? Will he hit .400? Unlikely. But I can see him hitting .340. And he's not that far away. Sure he'll have his struggles and period of adjustments. But he is ALREADY good at hitting. Pedroia won rookie of the year and MVP early in his career. I see the same thing from Beni as we saw from Dustin. He will have success at early age.
  13. Question about hitting into double plays.....any stats out there that penalizes batter for hitting into double play? You not only cost yourself an out but you negated On Base Percentage of another player (in theory).
  14. JF wants to hide Pablo's failure vs LHP with success he may have vs RHP and batting left handed. BUT WE ARE ON TO THAT-I DON'T CARE HOW GOOD HE IS FROM LEFT SIDE, HE CAN'T HIDE HIS WEAK BAT FROM RIGHT SIDE VS LHP. Does JF manage with his fingers crossed every time Pablo comes to bat vs LHP?
  15. But last year Toronto tied Red Sox for 2nd in ERA+.....again pitching rules? Despite +OPS of 100, league average.
  16. Thanks for the link, very interesting reading. For the 2013 Sox, OPS+ 113 (1st) ERA+ 109 (T4th) For the 2007 Sox, OPS+ 107 (3rd) ERA+ 123 (1st) 2nd place was not even close at 112, Yankees finished 1st OPS+ with staggering 116, but pitching wins. For the 2004 Sox, OPS+ 110 (3rd) ERA+ 116 (2nd) For the 2016 Sox, OPS+ 109 (T1st) ERA+ 114 (T2nd) BUT CLEVELAND ERA+ blew away Sox at 121. Looks to be the best indicator of success.
  17. by Christopher Smith Brandon Workman dominated again for Triple-A Pawtucket last night against Charlotte. He pitched two perfect innings, striking out five. Former Boston Red Sox prospect Yoan Moncada (traded for Chris Sale) was one of the five hitters who Workman struck out. All were swinging. He threw 26 pitches, 19 strikes (73 percent). So stats at Pawtucket have been sensational. He has allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out 10 over 7 scoreless innings. Workman is returning from Tommy John surgery he underwent June 15, 2015. The Red Sox wanted to see an increase in fastball velocity from spring training when he was throwing mostly in the high-80s. His fastball averaged 92.3 mph in 2013 (per FanGraphs.com). He reached 92 mph April 13, according to Brendan McGair of The Pawtucket Times. Red Sox manager John Farrell said here at Rogers Centre on Thursday that Workman has experienced a slight uptick in velocity. But the most important factor in his dominance has been more consistency and sharpness to his curveball. "That is the one pitch that has taken probably even more of a step forward than what we saw in spring training," Farrell said. "He's gradually putting himself putting himself right back in the mix to be a strong candidate here." He allowed just one unearned run in 8 2/3 innings during the 2013 playoffs. Another option for Red Sox? He's 6-5, 235, age 28. Prime of his career. In his first arbtration year.
  18. Beni hits to all fields, he takes the approach of hit it where its pitched. He is more inclined to hit into double plays. I rather see him lead off. Xander is comfortable going to right side on any pitch. I like the hit and run with him and Beni on first. Pedy has a mindset to drive in a run with runners in scoring position. He can hit in #5 spot for me. f*** THE RIGHTY/LEFTY STRATEGY.
  19. Pedroia said he hadn't spoken to Barnes about the pitch. "He's not trying to hit Manny in the head," Pedroia said. "It's just a bad situation, man. That's it. That's not baseball. That's it." Barnes tried to explain his side of the play. "People are going to think what they want," Barnes said. "All I know was I was trying to go up and in, trying to get some weak contact with (Adam) Jones on first. Unfortunately one got away from me, and like I said I would never intentionally throw at somebody's head. That's potentially life-changing and that's unacceptable." Manager John Farrell reiterated Barnes' sentiment. Dustin should have talked to Barnes first before throwing him under the bus.Of course Pedy didn't have anything to do with it. No one thinks that. If I'm Barnes, I tell Pedy to go f*ck off. Thanks for backing up your teammate. Yeah, go kiss Machado's ass. You can kiss it while you're out of line up for weeks.
  20. Moon, where in the hell is Rutledge? Isn't he back from his rehab? I also agree with you having Beni leading off. I rather have Xander batting 2nd with his attacking the right side approach. We can run more with Xander hitting behind him.
  21. Benintendi sat out Saturday's 4-2 loss. Baltimore clearly wishes he'd be given another day off. "After a day off, he looked refreshed and bounced back with a positive day," Farrell noted. The Red Sox finished with 14 hits, including three home runs after totaling only eight longballs in their first 18 games. They were the only Major League team yet to crack double digits on the season. "Everybody talks about how we haven't hit home runs," Benintendi said. "I don't see what the problem is. We're getting on base and scoring runs." Chris Sale disagrees with you Beni.
  22. Kelly just starting to warm up....3 straight walk....what the f*** is JF doing? He's at 100 pitches... I just can't f***ing understand him
  23. Get someone else in there....e rod is losing it.
  24. $200M tied up in Hanley and Pablo.....nice job by Ben
  25. This is on JF...he knew the conditions. Knuckleballer can't pitch in this type of weather. He needs to pitch in San Diego.
