    Suppose Devers come out of ST to be our full time 3B. He struggles early. He gets demoted. Is he finished? Is his career over? Is Moncada's career over? No. So what's the difference between now, September or April 2018 call up? Do you honestly believe another 200 bats will be a big difference maker? He can't do any better than Marrero? The guy with WORST OPS in the minors last year? I just don't understand the logic.

    Devers may surprise the management. It baffles me that they will look under every rock for a starting pitcher but they settle for a guy with the WORST minor league OPS at 3B. Unless DD intends to trade Devers and does not want him 'exposed' to other teams at the major league level there's NO downside in trying him at 3B.

    Betts, Pewee, Xander combined 0-12.....PATHETIC Why does Betts gets a pass on being criticized? He hasn't done jack last two months.

    Lin made couple of nice plays at 3B.....I can't believe we were duped into thinking Pablo can come back.....lol I'd like to see him start in front of Marrero......how can he be any worse?

    Betts, Pee Wee and Xander 0-9......they've sucked today. Take away his 2 4 hit games, Betts is 16-80 in June...May was even worse. And people think he's a MVP candidate? yeah right.

    I think Kimbrel decision should be a closed topic by now. What if fictional Sox closer had blown few saves this year? Fans would be screaming. We don't win the Division without Kimbrel this year. Loved the Sale trade, would do it every time. What's incredible is that we did in a roundabout way 'saved' some of $60M we spent to sign Moncada by getting a discount (read lower Sale's SALARY). I'm sure Henry is pleased.

    Doesn't Moon also have to account for the draft pick we would have lost had the Sox signed Kimbrel as a FA? So it's not FA money plus prospectS. It's prospects less first round pick, no?

    At least it's not a $9M guaranteed contract with another $4M in incentives....Masterson? We piss away money like my teenage daughter. She actually told me to go to a bank machine when I told her I didn't have any money. I think she was 6 at the time. Ben got two credit cards and maxed out both in couple of days.

    They were less concerned about him throwing off the mound than being able to run and making cuts. What if he has to cover a bunt and make a quick pivot on a throw to first...that sort of things.

    To me, Hanley looks to be hurt. I hope the Sox hang on to Travis. Let him play 1B and give Moreland some rest at DH. I like that combo.

    We think so much of Pablo that we're willing to let Vazquez play 3B? Sure let's do something about 3B when we get down by 10 games.

    The downturn in production of Ramirez this year -- his slugging percentage is just .405 -- suggests that perhaps Moreland and youngster Sam Travis could coexist on the Red Sox roster next season and beyond. Moreland deflected the idea of negotiating a contract extension during the season -- “Right now we’ve got more important things to take care of,” he said -- but gushed about his experience with Boston so far. “I loved it from the minute that the Red Sox called,” he said. “It has probably exceeded my expectations as far as the group of guys, an unbelievable group of guys. I’m excited about the next few months.” I'm not only one thinking this scenario...

    I agree. Let's not wait until we're falling in standings to do something about it. Do something now. 3B is a definite problem. Quit wasting time on Pablo. Don't be a nice guy. We're here to win. I always go back to the theory that you have 25 MEN using up one of their precious seasons. You can't simply derail that because you want to be a nice guy for ONE player. You owe it to other 24. I would give Devers a quick look before doing anything else. If he fails and if he can't handle that, then he's not a major league material. Find out what he's made of . Anyone here think Moncada is FINISHED as a major leaguer because what happened when he was called up?
