  1. Can someone tell John that Brock is batting .200?
  2. Brock Holt sucks.....non athletic little dude....what the f*** is he doing in majors? I
  3. I like the wait and see approach. It's possible that our hitters will return to 2016 level. Signing Nunez would be a significant improvement. DH role can be shared between Devers, Nunez, Hanley, Travis, Pedroia, even Xander. Having Nunez will allow us to shift players around. Season is too long and you need flexibility for injuries. I just don't want to commit to a long term deal unless you do a Chris Sale type deal, say someone like Votto. With Wright coming back, our SP unit should be deeper. There's also hope for Carson Smith being 100% and Thornburg becoming available some point doing 2018. Workman should also be be fully recovered so our bullpen for at least another year should be okay (Kimbrel's option year).
  4. Let's wait and see where Nunez ends up. Playing half of his games in Fenway should appeal to him somewhat. Obviously money will appeal to him lot more.
  5. Cubs in reality benefited from playing the last two games in Cleveland. DH rule came into play. Remember that Schwarber was hot. Giving the Cubbies extra bat was significant. Guardians already was set up as a DH hitting team.
  6. Yep, I'll take Devers over Holt any day of week. JF's loyalty to Holt is just too weird. Play your f***ing best players. The kid is twenty years old. How tired can he get?
  7. He has that 'natural' look swing..... He has a level swing, he doesn't bail, he hits where it's pitched....
  8. Sure seems silly now about giving him a shot. That's all I asked. I had NO IDEA HE'D SUCCEED. All I wanted was for him to get a look. He may still fail but at least we've giving him a look. Every player is different. There's old say in golf that his game can travel. Meaning that the swing is good enough to play on any course. Well, Devers has a swing that travels, meaning he can hit just about anybody. A, AA, AAA, Majors. Ball must at some point cross home plate and Devers knows what to do with it. He was born to hit.
  9. and Votto.....screw the luxury tax
  10. Brock Holt with OPS of .523 starting in place of Devers, because a lefty is on mound. I want this no talent gone. He just sucks. Skinny little dude with no athleticism. Yuck
  11. There's a reason DD went for Moreland and 1 yr. I doubt Duda and Hosmer are on his radar.
  12. so you've changed your views on him slightly because rest of team lack power? I get it. I want power from DH and corner positions.
  13. It would be nice to add a rookie every year.... 2017 Benitendi 2018 Devers Is Travis still in our plans to start 1B for next year?
  14. Really good stuff......if feels like doing homework and I'm getting headache... On a side note, I do like that we can chart every hit ball for a player. Then you can overlay onto another field. For Sox we are looking for guys with tons of fly balls to left field, someone like Nunez.
  15. Okay you are onto something........ Do we ignore the traditional baseball stats and value more what I call 'athletic' stats? That is contact rate combined with exit velocity and launch angle matters the most? End results thus are pretty much random at this point. But will that translate to 'winning'?
  16. Not sure, but he would need a bigger cup.
  17. I just hope his career won't be remembered as, "yeah he looked to become a good pitcher until that unfortunate incident sliding back to second base".
  18. As much as we try, it's difficult to capture statistically a bloop single vs hard line drive in gap caught for an out. Numbers initially say 1-1 vs 0-1. But if you witnessed both at bats, your memory tends to favor the guy who hit the line drive......thus begins "I don't care what the stats say" argument.
  19. Looks like Devers is learning to run bases from Hanley and Company.
  20. you mean it didn't have a backstop?
  21. Why is NESN announcer going on and on about the foul pop Vazquez caught couple of innings ago? My high school catcher can catch that. Is that really hard? Aren't these guys major leaguers? Oh wait, my high school kids make better decision on base paths.
  22. Hum...maybe I was wrong about Beni's power.
  23. What the f*** is wrong with Hanley? False Hustle......Dumbest base runner on the team and we have several of them.
  24. Moving forward, both E Rod and Pom needs to work on being more efficient, getting into 7th inning from time to time. Holding 3 innings in a tight game could become problematic.
  25. If we all shared same logic, then the board becomes pointless. We have a difference of opinion as to how much we are willing to pay for our 'good' SS. Our 'good' RF takes precedence over our 'good' SS. He's 8th in OPS among AL shortstops. And I hear that his defense is mediocre. Is he 'good' or does your logic give out trophies to average shortstops? Sox fans tend to logically over value their players.
