  1. I didn't realize how good Joe Ryan has been. Great WHIP #'s to go with strike out capabilities. He is 29 years old with 2 more years of team control. It would be worth it to trade away Duran for this guy. Duran has three more years of team control. Throw in a young pitcher, Fitts? That's pretty good haul for the Twins. That maybe an overpay for the Sox.
  2. Looks like our pitching is coming around. What a luxury to have Fitts sent down after pitching well. Bringing back Dobbins. We have an extra reliever in the pen. Great news is Bello is pitching better, getting swings and misses (ok, it's the Rockies). Also allowed the bullpen to reset with his masterful, complete game. We now have Crochet, Giolito and Bello pitching well. Dobbins and Fitts contributing. When or if we add another starter at trade deadline, we won't have to deal with Buhler any longer. Our pen has little more depth with Alcala, Murphy and Hicks. I would love to see Houck join the group and go hard one inning out of time. I still would like to see Weissert take 15 days off to get recharged, probably not in the card in the past maybe that option is available. Hell, you can invent an injury for pitchers. They are mostly hurt anyway. Please keep Chapman. Go get a proven, reliable starter.
  3. "He is still hitting the ball on the ground over 59% of the time, so it may take awhile for Anthony to frequently drive the ball out of the park, but for a player who recently turned 21, his recent output has been outstanding." He's doing great but my observation was correct. Hell Yoshida has this issue.
  4. With Story going over .700 ops mark, Sox has 10 hitters with OPS over .700. Given enough at bats, Mayer definitely will get there. Wong continues his pathetic offensive ineptitude. 0-4 with 2 Ks, ops down to .375. He needs to be replaced.
  5. We have 7 players starting with OPS>.714. Story has an OPS of .694. Then we have Wong at .392. What an embarrassment.
  6. I don't care what he does.....what ever he does in San Fran, he won't do it here. I'm a Sox, I don't give a damn about any non Sox guy.
  7. I saw a comment that Mr. Clarke was going to work with Devers on 1B defense. Unfortunately Devers was a no show without any explanation. Yep, Giants can have him.
  8. Geez, are we going to follow Devers for next 10 years. I wish the Boston media would just focus on 'their' team. I don't miss Devers one bit. Betts with the Dodgers, Xander with Padres, now Devers with the Giants. Let's just keep sending our guys to NL West. They can't all win the Division in any given year.
  9. Not likely but we can be plus 8 games at the All-Star break. I'll settle for 6-1 finish here.
  10. Runs W L Net 0-1-2 5 24 (19) 3-4-5 17 16 1 6+ 24 5 19 46 45 1 Some may say we're the ultimate .500 team. Score less than 3 runs, we lose, Score 6 or more runs we win. It's a coin flip scoring 3-4-5 runs. Unfortunately our record is better when we score 3 runs, 7-5, versus scoring 5 runs, 5-6. We're 5-5 scoring 4 runs. Another one of my meaningless stat.
  11. Give some credit to Breslow. His top 3 acquisitions all made the All-Star team. Every year we have a bad signing. This year it's Buehler.
  12. We should wait. We play at home 3 vs Colorado, then 4 vs the Rays. Then All-Star pause. Then we travel to Phillies and the Cubs for six games total. We then come home to face the Dodgers for 3 then off to Minnesota for 3. I agree with a poster that this Sox team can beat the best and lose to the worst. It's really not a consistent team. I'm hoping we catch a fire in August and September. I believe our bullpen is improving. I like the additions of Alcala and Hicks. We should get Justin back by August. Really not impressed with Whitlock and Weissert is fading fast. If we are going to make a run, we definitely need Chapman. It's not always about accumulating talent for future. It immediately sends a bad vibe to the rest of the team if you lose the best closer we've had in a while. Let's just see what we do in next 19 games in July. 12-7 makes us a buyer. I would love to see Bregman return vs the Rays. Play 3rd twice and DH twice.
  13. We are done scoring ever since piece of crap Wong kept his streak of leaving runners in scoring position for 22nd time.
  14. I like it that we have speed. Maybe he can play 2B. Played in OF yesterday.
  15. I like it that we have speed. Maybe he can play 2B. Played in OF yesterday.
  16. Same lineup as yesterday except Wong is catching. Playing fantasy baseball. Why not Have refs play for Duran and bat Narvaez at DH. Give Duran a day off. 8 right handed bats. Or not.
  17. Yankees will host the Mariners and the Cubs after Monday's off day. Rays will play the Tigers before facing the Sox for 4, like the Sox, they won't have an off day. We're only 3 1/2 games back of the Yankees and the Rays. We have a chance to narrow the gap before facing the Rays for 4.
  18. 88% chance of rain in Boston on Tuesday. It may be good for us to get a rain out.
  19. It's important that Bello pitches Monday vs Rockies so he can pitch the 4th game against the Rays on Sunday. Bello pitched in relief of Fitts. Hopefully Dobbins will be back to pitch the third game vs the Rockies. No days off until All-Star Games. Okay, just saw that Dobbins pitched or scheduled to pitch today so he won't pitch until Friday next week at the earliest.
