  1. Dear John Can you make sure players you sign are healthy? Sincerely, Chris S.
  2. I thought the whole point of 2020 was to reset the luxury tax. I want see if there are any keepers out of new signings.
  3. Baseball season is a marathon. This year it's a mini. There's no reason to blow up this team unless you're willing to trade Xander and Devers.
  4. Agreed. $300M over 10 years is a reasonable offer. Pay him whatever he wants is not an option.
  5. I'm not making any political statement. In my state (Indiana), we are now subject to 6 months jail time for not wearing mask. Not sure how they can enforce it...but this picture does not help.
  6. Yep....and in a short series, you want to throw out as many professional hitters as you can in the lineup...even your super stars a la Betts can go on a 7 game slump...you're good hitter over a 162 game season...not necessarily during World Series.
  7. Mookie is singing "This is LA....All I wanna do is have a little fun before I die"
  8. It takes two to dance.....Betts turned us down.....there will be others...
  9. On paper, we had one of the best starting rotations.
  10. On the other hand we had to pay what we did for Price to get the ship turned around...looks like we got helped out by the Dodgers. We still owe $48M over the next three years starting in 2021. Trading half season of Miller for E Rod was one of the best moves for this organization. Would $300M for 8 years do the trick for Betts? It's a different ball game right now. I would not go anymore than that......
  11. I'm half messing with you.....it's just frustrating....Big Payroll, Big Budget, small return when it comes to starting pitching..
  12. Maybe because there's no science to pitching......can anyone really project out an 18 year old? And if there's secret to developing pitchers, why hasn't that guy made millions of dollars.....it's similar to guessing about our pandemic.
  13. Maybe we can steal a title in a 60 game season.....meanwhile We get a break on Price sitting out the year.... What we got from Betts are looking better....60 games of Betts for 15 contract years... No one is getting a $350M/10 year deals after this year....too much uncertainty... Will Betts sign a one year deal? Loss of Sale is not as painful with shortened season.....
  14. Let's look at this from humane perspective.... He needs to just stay home, take care of his family, cash the paychecks....his well being is more important but he needs to understand that...quit being selfish...think about the wife and the kids....I'm pretty sure they don't want to see him suffer with another setback which is bound to happen....
  15. Yep.... Am I right in thinking that 1) players will not receive full year's pay if the season is shortened? 2) our payment to the Dodgers for Price is reduced for 2020?
  16. I sure as hell wouldn't pay Mookie $28M for abbreviated season. Do the teams have insurance?
  17. While at it, if JD opts out, make Dalbec a two way player. He can DH and become the closer. For rule geeks out there, I'm assuming a DH can come in to pitch.
  18. If I'm Henry, I'd insist on surgery. He has millions invested in him. Why the f*** wait? If he has the surgery today, at least you know that he'll be back healthy at some point. To think he won't have to have a surgery during the duration of his contract is asinine.
  19. I know it won't happen but it would be nice if last year's Pedey's contract can be reworked. Retire Pedey. Get the money from Henry in another way.
  20. He became a dad recently....late arrival with permission....
  21. Part of the problem is you rarely see a staff where all five starters average five or six innings. Certainly not like the old days
  22. he probably hasn't seen that much cash available in years.....he's thinking 8 starters at $2M apiece.
  23. We're probably not done yet.
  24. He was shut down most of last year....I know it's Monday morning quarterbacking, but I wonder surgery was considered as an option last year. Probably hoping he'd come back for the playoffs in 2019.
  25. "Yankees right-hander Luis Severino has been recommended to undergo Tommy John surgery after experiencing soreness in his right forearm at the start of camp, general manager Brian Cashman said on Tuesday. Severino had been scheduled to celebrate his 26th birthday last week by throwing a bullpen session, but he traveled to Orlando, Fla., for further examination by team physician Dr. Christopher Ahmad. The righty made just three starts in 2019." You just never know about the health of a pitcher. Sincerely, it's too bad. I don't want to see anyone getting hurt.
