  1. And Xander wants a raise? Let him opt out.
  2. Sale just needs to shut the f*** on his post game interview. He didn't do his job. His counterpart outpitched him. Just go have a seat Chris.
  3. Chris Sale is reduced to all talk and no action. Great trade. Horrible extension.
  4. Why did they bring him back out? Take the 1 run game and let him enjoy himself.
  5. The essence of Red Sox offense....biggest pile on group in majors.......They'll score 15 runs to win a game and then get shut out next two games. But we averaged 5 runs per game so there's that...great offense.
  6. My eyes tell me we want him to pitch 6 innings and hold the opponent to either 2 or 3 runs. Not to come into the 9th innings with one run lead.
  7. It just means he'll do better in longer stints than one inning stint for the entire season. He did not pitch in high leverage situation until the end. It means he's hittable. Not sure if Cora can simply ask him to strike out a guy when that's what's needed. I don't think he's that type of pitcher. If you don't get what I'm saying then we have nothing to talk about in this matter.
  8. I was on Whitlock bandwagon before many here, even before Moon. That said, I want to make a case for Whitlock being a starter. It's my view that he's not a closer. He doesn't have the shut down ability. He'll be better starting and trying to go as long as he can. I believe he's better suited to give the team Quality Start versus being a Closer. Not a knock on him, I just think he'll be better as a starter.
  9. Just as you use hyperbole from time to time, so do I.....
  10. Pivetta has thrown only 37 pitches in 3 innings.....chill out dudes....
  11. Lefties have trouble throwing strikes vs him...or it seems....
  12. Semien or Baez would be nice. They can play 2B until 2022, or we could trade Bogey to a team that lost their great SS to free agency- like HOU I like this idea......I'd do the same with Schwarber....it's only one year overlap with JD.....and he's better hitter than both Dalbec and Verdugo. I look at as direct trade off for Price's salary coming off after 2022. Probably similar amount of money. If we're going to go over for 2022 and I expect us to, then we might as well get the FAs one year early.
  13. Huge outing by E Rod. Pivetta will now start G4.
  14. Maxbialystock can relax a bit.....
  15. Moon keeps saying we don't need two DH's. Well hell, Schwarber is playing 1B and LF.
  16. Getting rid of Marwin almost covers it....$4M vs $3M.....
  17. Not a big fan of generalization...What the f*** is 'boatload of money"? Chris Sale 2017 $12.0M 2018 $12.5M 2019 $15.0M David Price 2016 $30.0M 2017 $30.0M 2018 $30.0M 2019 $31.0M If David Price was paid a boatload of money, then Chris Sale was not. For Sale, Sox inherited team friendly contract from White Sox. One can argue the extension so far has not worked well for Red Sox but the original contract assumed was team friendly. Giving up Kopech and Moncarda are another issue.....since they were only making league minimum, not sure we were paying boatload of money to Chris Sale. White Sox may still come ahead on the deal. Get your numbers straight.
  18. $10.000M M Richards $07.500M Kike $07.125M Ottavino $05.000M Perez $03.100M Renfroe $03.000M Marwin $01.200M Sawamura $27M plus Santana....$35M if E Rod walks. I'd say Bloom can do alot with $40M. In theory, Sale, Whitlock, Houck can replace E Rod, Richards and Perez.....not saying that's how it'll go down.... With the arrival of Arroyo, our position players pretty much stays intact. IF JD opts out, there's replacement in Schwarber waiting. We'll save money there regardless of who the new DH is.
  19. $262M to be exact.
  20. Fair enough...I get it. If Henry lets me, my order would be 1 Scherzer (we have always agreed on enhancing SP by picking a #1 and sliding down the rest) With him, Scherzer, Eovaldi, Sale, Pivetta, Whitlock, Houck, Sealbold.....#6 and #7 can go to the pen. 2 Siemen (he would also provide hedge vs Xander leaving or otherwise give us one hell of offensive infield) 3 Schwarber (my interest in him dates back to his IU days)...BUT I HAVE A CAP ON HIM AT $15M, I wouldn't pay him penny more, and again a hedge when $22M JD leaves 4 Relievers are fickle, I just trust Bloom to get the arms necessary without 'big name' relief pitcher. We already 'spent the big-name bullpen budget' on Barnes extension.
  21. I agree with you but you keep moving the goal post..... I rather have Semien than Schwarber obviously. But Semien will cost lot more than Schwarber. You need to lay out a plan for tax limit (assume $210M), $20M+ tax limit and $40M+tax limit. I'm having hard time pinning you down. Also what I want and what I think I'll get from Sox are two completely different scenarios.
  22. You the one always saying we may go over the tax limit next year. And I'm agreeing with you. With that all I'm saying is Schwarber/JD contracts will only overlap for one year. I'm pretty sure you're enjoying watching Schwarber hitting alongside JD, Kike, Devers, Xander, Verdugo and Renfroe.
  23. Cody Belinger is making $16.1M this in his arb 2 year. He has two more years of arbitration. Mookie earned $20M in arb 2 year (2019) before being traded to LA. Cody's agent is Boras. Looks like he'll eclipse $20M for 2022.
  24. Just having little fun with my buddy Moon.....Rays young players are hoping for good couple of years to get moved to a team that can pay them a fair wage.
  25. Chris Freakin' Sale. extension years... Chris Freakin' Sale. the trade...
