  1. On a separate note, I remember when Moon made a giant case about the importance of catchers to a pitching staff, that a weak-hitting catcher who calls good games and increases the pitchers effectiveness is far more important--CWHIP...or something like that, but I have always felt that it was a good theory and not utilized enough in analysis of teams.
  2. "Is it really atrocious if they are above .500?!?!? Webster's defines atrocious as savagely wicked or cruel. It's not like we're Washington Nationals fans coming off a WS championship and going 172 - 278 (.382 %)." So you are okay with mediocrity. Seems like a bunch of fans, regulars, on this forum are incredibly apologetic for the Sox becoming a small market joke. Rationalizing one franchise's s***** record to make the Sox s***** record now for a number of seasons as if it's acceptable. Listen, John Henry et al get their free pass (04,07,13,18)--an incredible run of WS titles in a short span..and I always applaud that about the franchise...but there is a point where post 2018 has to be better than what has occurred--there is a point where Bloom and his decision making has to be called into question..and frankly it's time to also move on from Cora, who will always have 2018, but like John Farrell it gets old when the team is playing last-place baseball. So dump Bloom, dump Cora, find a new voice in baseball operations and managership and let's turn this ship around. Sign some stars--yes sign some stars to rebuild around Devers, and quit pretending the Sox don't have money. This Tampa concept works in Tampa, not in Boston.
  3. "Sox are 228-225 in the last four seasons, 112-119 in the last two seasons, have had only four home sellouts this year, and have been in last place all but 27 days since last July 26."....from Globe. This is absolutely atrocious.
  4. bad team, bad f'ing team...fire everyone
  5. Starting pitching has been team's strongpoint of late...it still doesn't mean I wouldn't rather have Wacha and Eavoldi
  6. Sox have lost more games than any team because of defense....that's the GM not taking defense into account. It's let's try to be cute and trying exotics instead of looking at what helps a team win. This is a bad team. Period. Winning 2 straight is almost impossible of late.
  7. I too will compliment the Sox on the recent good pitching...but team is .500...and winning 2 in a row has been like some sort of hardship for this squad.
  8. Betts, JD, Eavoldi, Wacha...I'm guessing the Sox would be challenging for the division title, not a game under.
  9. Which is why ripping Schwarber .175 but realizing that he hits HR, RBI and produces is stupid.
  10. I'm sorry, but again, this is where Bloom is just not very good...He gets a nice hitter (who let's face it was taking a real gamble as he never played a MLB game--think Rusney Castillo and that long ago waste of money), but he doesn't take into account there is more to baseball than just hitting...I'm happy Yoshida is one of 14 current MLB hitters above .300, but his upside in a s***** lineup is certainly knocked down by the other failing parts.
  11. History. He has been very good and certainly when he is on, he is one of the best power hitting DHs in MLB. Off season, doesn't mean he wasn't worth a 1-year extension. Also check out the current roster and other than Devers who is a power hitter? 92-year-old Justin Turner?
  12. And the anti-JD, love Turner crowd, JD is top 5 in the NL in home runs and RBI...ye of little faith.
  13. *The Red Sox not some small market team*....this is the problem with what is going on as well...they are asking fans to swallow mediocrity for way too long when if they made some smart moves they could have been a legit contender soooner than later. But hey, let's keep defending Bloom on here...apparently he is God now. HE IS IN CHARGE OF BASEBALL OPERATIONS...SO HE HAS TO TAKE THE CRITICISM THAT GOES WITH IT.
  14. Tapia got dropped after actually doing a few things...typical of Sox.
  15. True, but I'm saying the Sox have a great excuse now to just Fire Bloom--they can just use the poor judgment excuse that has fired many people in many professions over the last few years.
  16. Because Bloom is an insensitive moron. Both in baseball decisions and moral decisions...He doesn't get it, doesn't understand the timing of Dermody start...you have to be a moron to not realize the backlash comes whether Dermody threw a no hitter or got bombed. Further, you are a bigger moron for backing down to the wok crowd, and then explaining himself that it's a baseball decision. So he lied. Let's defend him by signing him, then throw the guy under a bus during Pride Week...unbelievable.
  17. To use Bloom's own words on Dermody..."It was a baseball decision." Well, fire Bloom for that alone, Sox
  18. Let Wokism be Bloom's demise anyway. Apropro
  19. On Dermody, if his history is of all these tweets, then that makes Bloom even more of an idiot. The Bruins signed a kid who committed an unspeakable act as a teen by putting a disabled kid head into a toilet and took the backlash and then released him 2 days later. Well, Bloom gets a free pass on this? Nope. This is one of the easiest firings ever. No one will cry for Bloom if he is fired today. Not a single person, but his family.
  20. Actually, true, really good point.
  21. You just made my case to Fire Bloom.
  22. It's not Dermody, it's the situation. The timing. Think about it. Why would you even bother to throw a journeyman (emergency or not) during "Pride Month"....this is like throwing a grenade from your trench and having it hit the top of the trench bounce back and blow you up.
  23. The Matt Dermody debacle is a good reason to fire Bloom now...look, he did the right thing and didn't let a stupid religious tweet (deleted, told to Bloom and explained and then took sensitivity training) get in the way of signing a guy...promotes him, so he starts him during Pride Week (this is on Bloom btw, not anyone else), then releases him the same night...this is the height of pussydom for Bloom and in all honesty doing the right thing, not standing by doing the right thing, giving in because we aren't allowed to apologize for mistakes anymore--cancelled! Then Bloom put Dermody in the worst case scenario, then designates him for assignment....Kluber meanwhile gives up 8 straight hits in relief...how bout just RELEASING HIS ASS, BLOOM! Fire BLOOM! Says it was a baseball move to drop him....bull to the s***.
  24. This 2003 edition is brutal....500 and on its way to .475
