  1. FROM GLOBE: Twenty of the 26 players in uniform Sunday were acquired by Bloom, as are 11 of the 13 players on the injured list. This is his team, something made clear by watching Andrew Benintendi go 7 for 12 with three doubles over the weekend for the White Sox.
  2. This is it entirely, Bellhorn. *bigger expectations* and a feeling that the Sox should be up there with the big boys battling for a playoff spot. Not just a cheapie 1-game wild card.
  3. Themes, bad defense, errors in situations that kill the Sox...pitchers who are throwing great--then felled by injuries...Inconsistent hitters....not sustaining winning...You can't follow 6-game win streaks with disturbing 2-game losing streaks v. bad teams. This is the .500 Sox of 2023
  4. Lot of DH types are on the Red Sox...bad fielders galore
  5. Extended bereavement leave for Verdugo on a grandparent. It's a terrible loss, but the timing was terrible for Alex and Sox.
  6. Duran has been outstanding, Yoshida clearly a great signing--there I said something nice about Bloom.
  7. Very happy to see Sox on a roll. This will save a lot of jobs, including the Bloomster.
  8. I have to say the Kluber save is one of the most horrific statistics that shouldn't be recorded (automatic rule on last 3 innings) in the history of MLB. You should not get rewarded for getting bombed.
  9. Cora is only as good as what he has to work with and the team is turning it around, so maybe his approach isn't so bad. Not necessarily agree with benching Verdugo for his running gaffe (he already pulled him during that game), but Verdugo took it well and has been hitting tear ever since. Good managing? Maybe so.
  10. Love how 4th in the MLB Slugging is somehow not good enough. Nice.
  11. JD 2021 total season.. .286, 28 HR, 99 RBI, led MLB with 42 doubles...but hey, let's use the pandemic shortened season of 2020...good work....JD in 21 playoffs--you know when it counts--3 HR, 10 RBI, .344, .447 obp...he faded so badly.
  12. Love the fiction that goes on in here. Moon at least backs up his posts when he argues. He is a loyal Sox fan (once a Pilots fan).
  13. .303 .391 obp .596 .987 ops That's NOTORIOUSLY SLOW FINISHER IN POSTSEASON....
  14. JD is not paid to reach base, he is paid to hit extrabase hits (34), and drive in RBI (48)...if you want to include OBP, there is a long list of MLB players who suck at it. Different league, different times...
  15. JD Martinez 4th in Slugging in MLB, 15th OPS, 14th in RBI, 13th in HR. Justin Turner starting to heat up, that's great...but I don't want to hear anymore JD bashing when he has put up outstanding numbers for MLB.
  16. What does any of this have to do with Firing Bloom? He should still be fired for putting out a .500 product that only recently in the last few days showed some life.
  17. First doubleheader win at Fenway v. Yankees since 1976....wow...anyway, good for the Sox, good for the pitching, and good for some joy for the Sox fans for a brief weekend.
  18. Terms that I'm sick of--"sustainability"...Waiting for Guffman-Sale-Story-Duvall (back but the effects of the hitting tear he had is not or should be expected)...Holding on to Kluber...Announcing signings of journeymen utility guys...Sick of losing attitude--Fire Bloom, Fire Cora, Fire half the roster. It's the most unlikeable team I think in terms of how it is run. The players, I don't hold anything against them. They are just collectively a .500 team at best. That's on the Director of Baseball Opps.
  19. On a separate note, I remember when Moon made a giant case about the importance of catchers to a pitching staff, that a weak-hitting catcher who calls good games and increases the pitchers effectiveness is far more important--CWHIP...or something like that, but I have always felt that it was a good theory and not utilized enough in analysis of teams.
  20. "Is it really atrocious if they are above .500?!?!? Webster's defines atrocious as savagely wicked or cruel. It's not like we're Washington Nationals fans coming off a WS championship and going 172 - 278 (.382 %)." So you are okay with mediocrity. Seems like a bunch of fans, regulars, on this forum are incredibly apologetic for the Sox becoming a small market joke. Rationalizing one franchise's s***** record to make the Sox s***** record now for a number of seasons as if it's acceptable. Listen, John Henry et al get their free pass (04,07,13,18)--an incredible run of WS titles in a short span..and I always applaud that about the franchise...but there is a point where post 2018 has to be better than what has occurred--there is a point where Bloom and his decision making has to be called into question..and frankly it's time to also move on from Cora, who will always have 2018, but like John Farrell it gets old when the team is playing last-place baseball. So dump Bloom, dump Cora, find a new voice in baseball operations and managership and let's turn this ship around. Sign some stars--yes sign some stars to rebuild around Devers, and quit pretending the Sox don't have money. This Tampa concept works in Tampa, not in Boston.
  21. "Sox are 228-225 in the last four seasons, 112-119 in the last two seasons, have had only four home sellouts this year, and have been in last place all but 27 days since last July 26."....from Globe. This is absolutely atrocious.
  22. bad team, bad f'ing team...fire everyone
  23. Starting pitching has been team's strongpoint of late...it still doesn't mean I wouldn't rather have Wacha and Eavoldi
  24. Sox have lost more games than any team because of defense....that's the GM not taking defense into account. It's let's try to be cute and trying exotics instead of looking at what helps a team win. This is a bad team. Period. Winning 2 straight is almost impossible of late.
  25. I too will compliment the Sox on the recent good pitching...but team is .500...and winning 2 in a row has been like some sort of hardship for this squad.
